Abstract

Di era industri 5,0, penggunaan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran merupakan sebuah kebutuhan. Bagi siswa, penggunaan teknologi sudah merupakan sebuah gaya hidup (lifestyle) karena karakteristik mereka sebagai digital natives 5.0 (tumbuh dan dewasa di era digital). Oleh karena itu, guru dituntut untuk memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengintegrasikan penggunaan aplikasi teknologi dalam mengajar, salah satunya mengajar bahasa. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan aplikasi  Edpuzzle yang dapat digunakan dalam mengajar yang berbasis video di Kecamatan Pasirkuda, Cianjur, Jawa Barat. Ada tiga tahapan dalam program pengabdian ini. Tahap pertama, sesi pelatihan Introduction to application. Tahap kedua, sesi pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Edpuzzle. Tahapan ini diakhiri dengan sesi pembuatan media Edpuzzle.

Abstract

In the current COVID-19 era, teaching and learning process is mostly conducted through online. On the point of that, this situation effects the practice of mini thesis writing supervision. Based on the research background, this research is aimed at finding out students’ perception of the implementation of online mini thesis writing supervision. The questionnaire format used in this research is adopted from Kintama, Larasati, and Yuliana (2021). Limitation of this research was on choosing five criteria. The criteria were students’ readiness, types of supervising session, students’ understanding, internet facilities readiness, application used during online supervising session, and duration of students’ mini thesis revision. The questionnaire was distributed to 32 students of English Education program who deal with mini thesis supervising session. The data were collected by distributing questionnaire to the participants using google form. Descriptive qualitative was used to analyze and present the data. The results showed that the students get positive responses towards the implementation of online supervising session.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the person and spatial deixis used in Adele's song lyrics. Descriptive qualitative techniques were used to collect statistics. They categorize them into deixis forms based on their standards, and their findings are that types of deixis, such as individual deixis and spatial deixis, use song lyrics by using Adele. From the study results, it can be concluded that character deixis and spatial deixis of placement and dialogue are present in all song lyrics, personal deixis is most commonly found in 299 phrases, namely the words “I, you, me, and you dominate all songs. Spatial deixis is located in a 16-phrase. This can be seen from the character deixis from the final evaluation results and spatial deixis, which may be found in many of the six-song lyrics. It is the writer's great hope that this research can assist readers in studying the types of persons and spatial deixis.

Abstract

English language students frequently encounter challenges in comprehending recount text, and tend to lose interest when the reading material is presented without visual support. To address this issue, the study aims to develop a Comic Strip using Canva as a learning tool to teach eight-grade students how to read and comprehend recount text. The applied design was Research and Development (R&D) using ADDIE model. It involved 42 eight-grade students at SMP Budimulya as research subjects, along with two lecturers and one English teacher serving as expert validators. Instruments used to collect the data consisted of interview, observation, questionnaire and reflective journal. The results revealed that the comic strip was developed through five stages, from need analysis to evaluation. The developed product underwent a series of revisions made based on the observations from the small-scale trial. The product obtained an overall validation score of 87.15%, categorized as ‘Very Feasible’, while the student response questionnaire reached a score of 83.63%, falling within the ‘Very Positive’ category, with students showing particularly strong agreement that the visual illustration supported their comprehension of the recount text. These findings imply that comic strip developed with accessible design tools such as Canva can serve as a practical alternative learning media for supporting reading comprehension in EFL classroom contexts.

Abstract

Writing recount texts remains a challenge for senior high school students in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL), due to limited ability in organizing ideas logically, inaccurate use of past tense, and inappropriate use of cohesive devices, while the available teaching materials remain conventional. This study aims to develop a Padlet-based module grounded in the Genre-Based Approach (GBA) for teaching recount text writing to tenth-grade students, examining its development process, feasibility, and students' responses to its usage. It employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The participant were tenth-grade students, involving 15 students in the limited trial and 40 students in the field trial. It also included three expert validators: two supervising lecturers and one English teacher. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, questionnaire, and observation. The developed module underwent a series of revisions based on feedback from the limited trial. The findings showed that the module was rated "Very Feasible" by experts, with an average feasibility score of 87.72% covering content, language, and graphic aspects. Student responses fell within the "Very Positive" category, with an average of 81.50% in the limited trial and 83.88% in the field trial. These findings suggest that the Padlet-based module with a GBA approach can serve as a feasible and potential alternative learning medium to support recount text writing instruction in EFL classroom.
