Abstract

The main objective of this study is to find forms of matter that exist in the EnglishNational Examination of Senior High School (SMA) before. It is expected that theresults of research will provide a deeper understanding of the forms of matter inthe national exams in English, which can help students of Senior High School(SMA) in preparation for the English National Examination that are likely still beheld. In addition, the results of this study implied benefits also expected toprovide new knowledge in analyzing test items, to know about the character of agood test items, and the establishment of good questions of the subject matter tobe tested.In order to achieve the objectives of this study researcher found outdocuments and identified English National Examination ranging from type text inany text reading material about the making of the root, finding out the kinds oftests form were used in national exams. Each item was identified and analyzed thetest one by one to achieve the objectives of this study. The populations in thisstudy were documents of English National Examination papers in ranging from2011 to 2012. The selected samples were documents of English NationalExamination academic year 2010/2011 packet 58 and 2011/2012 packet B15.The results showed that the form of the tests item that were in the EnglishNational Examination is always different every year, although there were somethat remain the same. The dominant reading texts on the English NationalExamination were recount, descriptive, report, hortatory exposition, procedure,and discussion text. The dominant type of test used was the type of multiplechoiceitems on testing reading comprehension, and testing vocabulary. Thematerial most commonly used were " text mainly tells / discusses", and "meaningof the word".

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out the teaching styles that are used by the Western English Teacher at SMAN 2 Rantepao, Toraja Utara. and described students’ perception toward teaching styles of the Western English Teacher. The researcher employed qualitative description method for the study. The data resources for the research were thirty students at the tenth grade, they chose in randomly and one Western English teacher from Netherland. The instrument for the research consisted of observation, questioners and interview. In analyzing the data, the researcher employed a descriptive method.The result showed that, there are five teaching styles that used by the Western English Teacher in teaching English. Based on average accumulation data covered: (1) expert in teaching style is 3.902% it is categorized moderate level (2) formal authority in teaching style is 4.594%, it is categorized moderate level (3) Personal Model in teaching style is 4.289%, it is categorized moderate level (4) facilitator in teaching style is 4.391%, it is categorized moderate level and delegator in teaching style is 4.355%, it is categorized high level. From five teaching styles mention here, one of them is categorized high level.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out The Teaching Strategies in Learning Speaking Skill in Covid-19 era. In analyzing the data of this research, the researcher employed qualitative method to analyze data using theories from Miles and Huberman. The subjects of this study were the speaking lecturers at English Study Program of FKIP UKI Toraja. The data of this research was collected by interview. The result of the research shows that there are 4 (four) strategies in teaching English speaking in covid-19 era are Self-study Strategy, Use of YouTube application, Use of WhatsApp application, Question and Answer strategy.
