Abstract

Abstract: The analogical reasoning is needed to solve the mathematical problems, such as in cube problem. The study purpose to describe the analogical reasoning to solve the problem about similarity of elements and area of cubes. The research used the descriptive method that included giving the analogy test to 30 students, rreducing, classifying, and analyzing the answers, crosscheck through in-deep interviews of 3 students selected, describing the meaning of the patterns and concluding. The test of analogy was an essay of similarity of the elements and areas of cubes problems. The data were presented by bar charts, tables, and pictures. The research finding, there were two patterns of students' answers to solve the similarity of cube elements problem: (1) that there were some students master applying analogy only, (2) the other master encoding, inferring, mapping and applying analogies. There were four patterns of students' answers to solve the cubes area problem: (1) that there were students didn't master all of the analogies, but the other students masters of (2) encoding, applying, (3) encoding, inferring, mapping, and (4) encoding, inferring, mapping, applying analogies. Keywords: applying, encoding, inferring, mapping, cube.

Abstract

This program aims to provide knowledge and skills for students who are writing a thesis at the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP University of Palangka Raya. The achievement target is that students are able to write scientific articles on research results in their thesis. Partners and the target audiences are 16 students who are writing a thesis at the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP University of Palangka Raya. Technical guidance will be held for 3 days from 08–11 October 2021 online using the Google Meet platform. Activities carried out during the stages of socialization, technical guidance, clinical guidance, and evaluation of manuscripts. The evaluation of the manuscript uses the assessment sheet for the relevant scientific journal articles, and the scientific journal accreditation guide (Arjuna). The results of providing technical guidance are as follows. Of the 16 articles, there are 4 articles whose findings are adequate and contribute to the development of science and technology. There are 6 draft articles that have been made by students, which consist of 3 draft articles with all the sub-chapters written by students waiting for the final exam schedule. Almost all draft articles have not met an adequate number of references for a scientific journal article. While the other three are draft articles that have met the requirements to be submitted for publication in scientific journals.

Abstract

Low mathematical literacy among Indonesian students, as indicates by PISA results, highlights the need for innovative and contextual learning media that connect mathematics with real-life situations. This study aimed to develop and examine the feasility and praticality of E-Colands (Electronic Comic of Peatlands) as a mathematics learning medium for junior high school students in Central Kalimantan. The research employed a research and development method using the ADDIE model, limited to the Analysis, Design, Development, and Implementation stages. E-Colands was designed as a digital comic integrating matematical literacy tasks with peatland contexts encountered in students’ daily lives. Product feasibility was assesed through expert judgment by material and media experts using Likert-scale validition instruments. Practicality was evaluated through student response questionnaires administered to 75 students from grades VII, VIII, IX selected through purposive sampling. The results showed very high level feasibility, with validation scores of 91.25% form material experts and 89.29% from media experts. Students responses indicated good practicality, with an overall score of 80.49%, expecially in language clarity, media design, and ease of use. These findings suggest that E-Colands is a valid and practical learning medium to support contextual mathematics learning and enhance students’ mathematical literacy.

Abstract

The importance of reflective thinking skills in mathematics learning stems from in their demand for students to analyze, evaluate, and reconsider problem-solving strategies. The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe students' mathematical reflective thinking abilities based on discovery learning activities, and (2) to identify the factors that influence students' mathematical reflective thinking abilities. This study employed a mixed-method approach with an explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data were obtained through observations of the implementation of discovery learning, while qualitative data were gathered through tests and interviews with two students. The results show that students who effectively followed the stages of discovery learning tended to demonstrate a high level of mathematical reflective thinking. The research subjects were able to exhibit all three indicators of reflective thinking (reacting, comparing, and contemplating). Factors influencing students’ reflective thinking skills include cognitive aspects based on Bloom's taxonomy: knowledge (C1), comprehension (C2), application (C3), analysis (C4), and evaluation (C5).

Abstract

This research aims to Identify each type of plant that has the potential to be used as medicine in Petak Puti Village; Describe the use and processing methods of plants that have the potential to be used as medicine. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research design. Observation, to obtain information about the initial stages of the research, was conducted to seek information about traditional medicine that utilizes medicinal plants in Petak Puti Village. The informant selection technique used the purposive sampling method, carried out by selecting informants for certain considerations, in this case, the person who is considered to know the most about the situation in the village. The determination of informants purposively is assumed that the selected informants represent a homogeneous community, consisting of main informants (key informants) to be interviewed such as the village head, traditional leaders and immigrants who are married to village residents. While the basic informants are village members, traditional members and residents outside the village who have knowledge about the village. The local wisdom of plant species is very significant in the views and perceptions of the community in meeting basic human needs. The Dayak Ngaju Katingan community is highly dependent on natural resources to meet various daily needs. Most of the community's income comes from forest plant products. The diversity of plant species can provide food products for the community, produce various types of plants for consumption as a supplement for the Dayak community and generate alternative sources of income, such as used as food, medicines, fermentation, tonics, cosmetics, building materials and other materials, which can provide important nutrients and vitamins as supplements for the community, and can provide a buffer in times of food shortages. In addition, existing plant species have great potential to be developed and cultivated into new plants and provide genetic resources and conduct selection.
