Abstract

Breast milk is the best source of nutrients for infants. Its content was strongly influenced by the intake of the nutrients consumed by the mother. When the mother’s nutrient intake is fulfilled, the quality of her breast milk will be good. This study aimed to analyze the nutritional intake of breast milk and the fat content in breast milk, and the association between the fat content and the growth of infants aged six months. This quantitative and observational study used a cross-sectional design. The population was nursing mothers with infants aged six months. The Posyandu was selected by purposive sampling, while the samples were selected by consecutive sampling. Based on the correlation test, the samples in this study were 56 people. The study was conducted in the three Puskesmas areas in Bandung. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there were 37,5% nursing mothers with energy intake appropriate with RDA and the rest of them (62,5%) had energy intake below the RDA. There was an association between energy intake of nursing mothers with fat content in breast milk (p = 0,01). There is a relationship between fat content in breast milk with WAZ (p = 0.00). Fat content in breast milk had no association with HAZ (p=0,12) and WHZ (p=0,42). Low energy intake affected fat content in breast milk, which will eventually affect infant growth.

Abstract

Toddlers are a group that is prone to anemia. One of the efforts to prevent anemia in a toddler is by fulfilling nutrients such as protein and iron. Chicken and haliling are high protein and iron foods that can be used to prevent anemia in toddlers. This study aims to determine the level of protein, iron and hedonic scaling (color, aroma, texture, and taste) of chicken nuggets and haliling as a snack for a toddler to prevent anemia. The method used in this study was a pure experimental design with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications with the proportions of chicken and haliling P0 (100%:0%), P1 (90%:10%), P2 (80%:20%), P3 (70%:30%). The research panelists consisted of 25 untrained panelists. Analysis of protein content using the Kjeldahl method and iron using the visible spectrophotometric method, analysis of protein content data using Kruskal Wallis, iron using One Way Anova and hedonic scaling using Friedman. The results showed that there was an effect of the proportion of chicken and haliling on protein content (p=0.016), iron (p=0.001), color hedonic scaling (p=0.004), aroma (p=0.001), texture (p=0.001) and taste (p=0.001) on nuggets. The highest protein content at P3 was 11.27 g/100 g, the highest iron content at P3 was 2.2 mg/100 g, and the hedonic scaling for nuggets containing the proportions of chicken and halilings for color, aroma, texture, and taste was highest at P1 with an average of 3.2, 2.95, 3.25 and 2.85

Abstract

Teenagers are residents in the age range of 15-21 years. Physically, adolescent women need to be prepared in terms of knowledge regarding the beginning of pregnancy to birth. The nutritional problem that often arises in adolescents is the fulfillment of nutrition before marriage. Through the 1000 First Days of Life (HPK) movement, it is hoped that it can provide interventions to provide knowledge about pre-marital nutrition. Good nutritional status in expectant mothers during the preconception period is a determinant of the quality of human resources. Having good and proper knowledge about nutrition before marriage, as well as how to maintain their health, is expected to make teenagers more responsible. Educational activities are carried out by first asking questions to respondents before the implementation of education (pre-test) and returning questions after the implementation of education (post-test). The results of the educational activities showed that there was a change in adolescent knowledge regarding reproductive health, in this case regarding pre-marital nutrition, when viewed from the average scores obtained by students before and after the educational activities. The results achieved experienced an increase in knowledge as seen from the results of the pre test and post test. The increase in the percentage of students' knowledge before being given education by 52.1% increased to 78.5% after being given education. Educational activities regarding reproductive health like this are best given to teenage students and can be carried out periodically by school teachers to class X students in fulfilling the knowledge of adolescent students in preparation for entering the reproductive period.
