Abstract

PISA problems are based on real life context. It can be also enriched with Islamic value integration. The aim of this reseacrh is understanding the effect of posing PISA-like problems to students. The research was carried out qualitatively. The problems which are designed with context of Islamic value integration was posed to students. Then, the students filled in a questionare and have been interviewed about their responses on the problems. The results show that all subject being more motivated in doing a good deed suit on Islamic values. They told that they gained new understanding upon Islamic values from the context presented in the problems. They became aware that they will get reward when they practice an Islamic teaching. Some of them think that the problems are quite difficult and even unfamiliar for them. In the other hand, they feel happy because they finally know that the practice of Islamic teaching their doing so far will be rewarded.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Take and Give terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik pada materi trigonometri. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen berbentuk One-Shot Case Study. Penelitian ini menggunakan satu kelas sebagai sampel penelitian untuk diberi perlakuan dengan model pembelajaran Take and Give kemudian dilakukan observasi hasil melalui postes. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dengan bentuk soal uraian sebanyak 5 butir soal. Data hasil postes dianalisis menggunakan uji-t. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran take and give berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik.

Abstract

Abstrak Calon guru matematika wajib memiliki kompetensi profesional dan kompetensi pedagogik. Salah satu irisan kedua kompetensi tersebut adalah keterampilan mengajar. Sebanyak 12 mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika dilibatkan dalam implementasi desain perkuliahan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI). Desain perkuliahan dikembangkan menggunakan model design research. Perkuliahan didesain berfokus pada keterampilan mengajar sekaligus diperkaya dengan 5 karakteristik PMRI. Angket respon diberikan kepada mahasiswa untuk menilai respon mahasiswa terhadap proses perkuliahan. Butir respon dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif. Hasil angket menunjukkan 6 dari 10 pernyatan mendapatkan dukungan sangat kuat, sementara sisanya mendapatkan dukungan kuat dari mahasiswa. Dukungan paling kuat ditujukan untuk tiga aspek yaitu penggunaan Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) dalam perencanaan pembelajaran, pemanfaatan alat peraga, keseluruhan desain perkuliahan dianggap membantu mengasah keterampilan mengajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the problem-solving skills of olympiad mathematics based on sensing and intuitive personality types. The study was conducted at a private junior high school in the city of Surabaya. The subjects of this study were 2 students with sensing intuitive personality taken from students who were given the Mathematics Olympiad training, namely 1 student with sensing personality and 1 student with intuitive personality. Olympiad questions are given to explore the skills of both subjects in solving problems. The results of research students who have sensing personality (S1) are less able to define a particular topic on the question, S1 is able to work with a structure based on what is recognized, S1 has difficulty with the related topics that are being solved with other topics. S1 has difficulty in determining other solutions related to the problem being solved. Students who have the intuitive personality (S2) are able to define the meaning of a particular topic on the problem, S2 is able to link the topic to the problem with other topics, S2 is able to explain other solutions to the problems solved, S2 is able to present a more structured solution.

Abstract

AbstrakSiswa bergaya kognitif visualizer cenderung mengolah informasi dalam bentuk visual. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses berpikir siswa bergaya kognitif visualizer dalam menyelesaikan masalah TIMSS non geometri. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu 3 siswa bergaya kognitif visualizer kelas VIII SMP swasta di Surabaya. Ketiga subjek mempunyai tingkat kemampuan matematika Tinggi, Sedang, dan Rendah. Instrumen penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri dan dibantu dengan instrumen pendukung yaitu angket gaya kognitif visualizer dan verbalizer, soal tes TIMSS non geometri, dan pedoman wawancara. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu berupa tes gaya kognitif, tanya jawab dengan guru di kelas, tes soal TIMSS non geometri, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian siswa berkemampuan matematika tinggi pada tahap persiapan, inkubasi, dan iluminasi sangatlah baik, namun pada tahap verifikasi bisa dikatakan cukup dalam menyelesaikan soal TIMSS non geometri. Siswa yang berkemampuan matematika sedang dari empat tahap sudah cukup baik, namun masih belum mampu memahami soal yang abstrak seperti aljabar. Sedangkan siswa yang berkemampuan matematika rendah pada tahap persiapan dan tahap inkubasi cukup baik, namun pada tahap iluminasi dan tahap verifikasi masih kurang. Student’s of Cognitive Visualizer Thinking Process in Completing Non Geometry Timss ProblemsAbstractStudents with cognitive visualizer styles tend to process information in visual form. The purpose of this research was to determine the student’s thinking process. The purpose of this research is describe student’s of cognitive visualizer thinking process in completing non geometry TIMSS problems. The type of this research is desciptive qualitative research. The subjects in this research were three students of cognitive visualizer grade eight from private junior high school in Surabaya. The three subjects had high, medium, and low capability in mathematic. The research instrument in this study was the researchers themselves and assisted by some supporting instruments questionnaire cognitive visualizer and verbalizer, question of TIMSS non geometry, and interviews guidelines. The data collection technique used were a test of style cognitive, interview whit teacher,  TIMSS non geometry test, and interview. The data analisis technique used were data reduction, presentation of data, and conclusion. The result of the research was the high-skilled at the stage of preparation, incubation, and illumination well, but in the vierification stage it can be said to be sufficient in solving non geometry TIMSS problems. Students medium-skilled mathematic from four stages are good enough, but still not able to understand abstract questions such as algebra. While students with low-skilled mathematical at the preparation and incubation stages good enough, but at the ilumination and verification stages still not enough.

Abstract

AbstrakHasil penelitian literasi matematika di Indonesia tidak secara spesifik mengungkap literasi matematika siswa dengan mempertimbangkan latar belakang keilmuan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan literasi matematika siswa IPS dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA. Literasi matematika yang diungkap berfokus pada pemahaman siswa IPS terhadap konteks saintifik. Penelitian deskriptif ini melibatkan 3 siswa IPS di salah satu SMA di Jawa Timur. Setiap subjek penelitian yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan matematika berbeda diberikan soal tes kemampuan literasi matematika kemudian diwawancarai. Hasil tes dan wawancara dianalisis menggunakan kerangka kerja PISA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa IPS memiliki tingkat pemahaman yang baik tentang konteks saintifik pada soal PISA. Dari 3 soal yang diberikan, siswa IPS hanya terkendala di satu soal sehingga tidak semua indikator pemahaman terhadap konteks PISA dapat dipenuhi oleh dua siswa. Mathematical Literacy of Social Studies Students in Solving PISA Questions in the Scientific ContextAbstractThe results of research on mathematical literacy in Indonesia do not specifically reveal students' mathematical literacy by considering students' scientific backgrounds. This study aims to describe the mathematical literacy skills of social studies students in solving PISA questions. The mathematical literacy revealed focuses on the social studies students' understanding of the scientific context. This descriptive study involved 3 social studies students in one high school in East Java. Each research subject who has a different level of mathematical ability is given a mathematical literacy ability test question and then interviewed. The results of the tests and interviews were analyzed using the PISA framework. The results showed that social studies students had a good level of understanding of the scientific context on PISA questions. Of the 3 questions given, social studies students were only constrained in one question so that not all indicators of understanding the PISA context could be met by two students.

Abstract

Abstract: This is a quantitative research which aims to determine whether there is an influence of students’ perceptions on mathematics learning outcomes. The population in this study is all students at tenth grade in one of State Vocational Schools in Surabaya. Sample selection is done through simple random sampling. The research instruments consist of students' mathematics perception questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. The obtained data are tested using statistical t test. The result reveals that t-count is 5.15 and it is compared with t-table using significance level up to 0.05. It indicates that t-count > t-table, so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, students' perceptions of mathematics learning have a significant influence on learning outcomes.Keywords:Learning Outcomes, Mathematics, Perception.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how student mathematics teacher candidates use context in learning mathematics. A qualitative approach is used as a research method with supporting instruments, namely questionnaires and interview guidelines. The subjects of this research are mathematics education students who program PMRI courses. Data collection techniques are documentation of student reports, giving questionnaires and interviews about the context of mathematics. Data were analyzed by coding to develop descriptions and themes to answer research questions. The results showed that students understood the context as limited to problems related to everyday life. Students have not been able to implement PMRI because there are students who focus on solving mathematical problems by students. In conclusion, students have not utilized the potential of the context so that students can learn to reconstruct mathematical concepts and hone mathematical thinking processes through problem solving.
