Abstract

Cement is an adhesive material for concrete mixtures in addition to water, fine and coarse aggregates. One of the main ingredients of cement is silica (SiO2) which is originated from the earth's crust. Silica is also available in plants such as corn stalks. This research is aimed to utilize the corn stalk ash (CSA) as an alternative substitution for some cement in concrete for the rigid pavement of road construction. According to the Indonesian standard, the flexural tensile strength should be exceeded at least 4.5 MPa. The flexural tensile strength has also a correlation due to compressive strength. The concrete materials consisted of the coarse aggregate (river crushed stone) from Kampar River and Danau Bingkuang sands from Kampar District of Riau Province, and Portland Composite Cement from Semen Padang. The CSA was made by burning the dried corn stalks in a steel cylinder can over 24 hours. The content of CSA was varied by 0%, 5%, 7% and 9%. The compressive strength design of concrete was 31,3 MPa. Testing procedures were based on the Indonesian Standard for concrete. The tested specimens have consisted of cube specimens (150 mm x 150 mm x 150 mm) for compressive tests, and beam specimens (150 mm x 150 mm x 600 mm) for flexural strength tests. All specimens were tested on 28 days-age. The results show that CSA can be used as a partial substitution of cement in concrete. The addition of CSA tends to increase the compressive strength of concrete instead of its flexural tensile strength. The optimum content of CSA was 7% and resulted in an 8.0% and 6.9% increase in compressive and flexural tensile strength due to design respectively. Compressive and flexural tensile strength fulfilled the standard. Flexural tensile strength is obtained by 15% of the compressive strength. Cornstalk ash can be used as a substitution of cement for rigid pavement concrete. It can reduce the utilization of cement and will be potentially cost efficiency.

Abstract

Peradaban adalah suatu susunan masyarakat yang kompleks yang dicirikan oleh pembangunan perkotaan, stratifikasi sosial yang diterapkan oleh elit budaya, sistem komunikasi simbolik (misalnya, sistem penulisan), dan pemisahan yang dirasakan dari dan dominasi atas lingkungan alam. Peradaban Islam adalah peradaban yang dibangun di atas dasar aqidah Islam, bertujuan sesuai maksud-maksud (maqashid) syariah, dan diwujudkan dengan mencontoh perbuatan (sunnah) Nabi Muhammad, para shahabatnya serta rambu-rambu halal dan haram. Islam berada di puncak peradaban saat sistem Khilafah masih tegak, meski mengalami pasang surut. Pada tulisan ini dibahas kondisi dunia sains dan teknologi terkini di Indonesia dan dunia, komparasinya dengan sistem Islam saat berada di puncak peradaban, dan tawaran solutif pengembangan sains dan teknologi saat ini.

Abstract

The road is designed in order to achieve the service life of the plan, but the fact on the ground many roads suffered damage before the life of the plan service was reached. Environmental factors such as high rainfall with poor drainage conditions can cause puddles on the pavement surface of the road. Standing water for a long duration and plus the load of traffic at the point of standing water on the road surface can cause damage to the road. The purpose of research how the durability value and characteristics of asphalt concrete due to rainwater soaking. Experimental research methods are laboratoryized with the Cantabro method under long-term process conditions (Long Term Oven Agin (LTOA)). Test objects that have undergone the LTOA process are then soaked with rainwater and test Marshall's characteristics. Irs value of rainwater soaking duration of 7 days by 63%, IDP value of 32% and IDK of 30%. Marshall's characteristic value decreased as the duration of rainwater soaking increased. The lowest stability value of rainwater soaking duration of 7 days amounted to 1852 kg and the highest stability value without soaking of 3015 kg.

Abstract

This community service activities was aimed to give preventive solution due to drainage channel inundation of As-Salaam Utama street in Yepupa Utama Permai housing area, Air Dingin Village, Bukitraya District, Pekanbaru City. Thus preventing the potential area to become a source of disease and a nest of mosquito larvae and can provide residents convenience. There were 3 points of inundation problem, namely Location 1 in the conner of As-Salaam Utama street was resolved by replacing the rectangular culvert and adjusting its elevation. Location 2 was a inundation of As-Salaam IV street was also resolved as Location 1. Location 3 was in the same condition as Loacation 2, and was handled by making a new drainage channel across the road with adjusting its elevation. The results of the activities achieved at Location 1, the inundation of water during heavy rains have been handled quite well because water can flow towards the South quite smoothly. The water flow from the North of the channel can flow smoothly to the South to the outlet after handling Location 2. Location 3 was no more puddles on the road when it rains heavely after handling. The traffic during heavy rains remains smooth and reduces the potential pavement damages.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide counseling on how to pollute household waste that occurs in the Village of Empat Balai Kec. Kuok Kab. Kampar, thus preventing the potential to become a source of disease and damage to the environment due to household waste that is simply dumped into the environment such as household liquid waste and garbage that is directly dumped into the river without thinking about the impact on the environment, health and economy. The target to be achieved is to make the public aware of the importance of preventing environmental pollution due to household waste, reducing the potential for environmental pollution due to household waste and producing a clean and safe environment from household waste so as to create a clean and comfortable environment. By doing this outreach, it can help the surrounding community as well as provide comfort for the community in the occurrence of household waste water pollution. For the next program, it is important to conduct outreach by surveying directly the place where water is polluted due to household waste.

Abstract

Puddles such as peat water on the surface of the bending pavement can accelerate the aging process, disintegration and cause damage. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the aging process due to peat water soaking on the durability of the AC-WC mixture penetration 60/70 based on the Cantabro test. Research methods are laboratory tests that start from the design of asphalt concrete mixtures, determining KAO, LTOA tests, peat water chemical element tests. Soak asphalt concrete with peat water for 0, 1, 2, 4, and 7 days, CL Test and Marshall test. 7-day duration CL value 23.6%, stability 1805 kg, IDP 37%, IDK 34%. The chemical reaction element that causes LTOA is the oxidation reaction of asphaltenes due to the increase of the element oxygen that removes nitrogen (N) and alkyl chains (R). The chemical reaction element that causes aging due to peat water, namely organic substances affect the pH value depending on the number of lignin compounds. Lignin produces H ions that can accelerate aging. The pH value of peat water is 3, Na 78.81 mg/l, Fe 0.47 mg/l, organic substances 148.52 mg/l.

Abstract

Sistem Pelat Terpaku merupakan sistem perkerasan kaku yang terdiri dari pelat dan tiang-tiang yang dipasang di bawahnya dan dihubungkan secara monolit. Dalam penelitian sebelumnya, Pelat Terpaku tiang tunggal menggunakan modulus reaksi subgrade ekivalen izin dan diperoleh hasil lendutan yang cukup tinggi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perilaku lendutan Pelat Terpaku tiga baris tiang menggunakan modulus reaksi subgrade ekivalen izin dengan variasi faktor aman global (SFG). Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder dari hasil uji skala penuh perkerasan Sistem Pelat Terpaku terhadap beban tekan pembebanan repetitif. Nilai modulus reaksi subgrade ekivalen izin (k’a) dengan variasi SFG (1,0; 2,0; 2,5; 3,0). Lendutan izin ditentukan menggunakan lendutan pengamatan dan lendutan izin maksimum. Tahanan ujung tiang diabaikan karena berada pada tanah lunak. Lendutan pelat dianalisis menggunakan metode BoEF (Beam on Elastic Foundation) dengan bantuan program “BoEF.xls” Program versi 1.4. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa besaran faktor aman global (SFG) mempengaruhi lendutan pelat. Lendutan meningkat dengan meningkatnya SFG pada modulus reaksi subgrade ekivalen izin (k’a). Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa desain menggunakan pendekatan yang digunakan lebih aman, dimana hasil hitungan cenderung lebih besar bila dibandingkan dengan lendutan pengamatan. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem dapat diaplikasikan di lapangan.
