Abstract

Labor pain was an emotional experience and involves both physiological and psychological mechanisms during labor. Effects of labor pain includes inflammation in uterus and labor dystocia. Effleurage and counter-pressure massage were complementary treatment to relieve pain. This study aimed to analyze effectiveness of effleurage and counter-pressure massages for reducing labor pain in stage 1 of active labor phase. This study used quasi experiment design with pre-post test non-equivalent control group. Research subjects were 68 mothers in stage 1 of active labor phase, which were divided evenly to two groups. Sampling collection technique used consecutive sampling. Independent variables were effleurage and counter-pressure, while dependent variables were decline of labor pain. Instrument to assess labor pain was Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney. Labor pain before and after intervention in effleurage group were 9.26±1.05 and 6.88±1.22, respectively (p=0.00). Meanwhile, the respective numbers in counter-pressure groups were 9.00±0.98 and 6.59±1.28 (p=0.00). Average labor pain decline in effleurage and counter-pressure groups were 2.38 and 2.41, respectively (p=0.74). There was no significant difference between effleurage and counter-pressure in reducing labor pain. Keywords: Labor pain, Effleurage, Counter-pressure

Abstract

There have been many learning innovations that have been carried out by lecturers, but there are still many that only emphasize the low-level cognitive domains and not the high-level cognitive domains (analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and creation), the affective and psychomotor domains. The learning model has not been used many facilitate students to learn actively. As a result, learning is more dominated lecturers so that student activities are less than optimal. The purpose of this study is to develop learning tools and textbooks maternity nursing courses with a research-based learning approach. The resulting product are (1) learning tools in maternity nursing and (2) textbooks with research-based applications. The research was conducted on 40 undergraduate students of STIKes Bina Sehat PPNI Mojokerto, who carried out the academic learning process of maternity nursing. The method used refers to the 7 stages of the research-based learning process, with the validation of consultants and education experts. The main framework above is used as a basis for developing learning tools. Then the expert test of theoretical validity was carried out on the implementation of the RBL learning tool, with the result that the value of r = 0.909 (high reliability). The test results are widespread, not much different from the expert test results. While research-based textbooks are the results of research outputs, used as a guide for students to be able to build critical thinking, analysis and structure based on evidence. Abstract

Patient’s satisfaction is crucial for a hospital, and nursing as an integral part of health care in hospitals also determine the level of patient’s satisfaction. At the order of the clinic nurses deal directly with the public as their client. A direct relationship between the nurse and the client need a behaviour that can be accepted by the whole society. Caring as one of the basic values of nursing, is a phenomenon that affects the way to think, feel and relate to others. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the nurses caring with patient’s satisfaction by using cross sectional design. Population of this study was patients who were treated in Internal Medicine Unit of Dr. Soetomo Hospital in November 2015. The sample size was 75 people, who were selected by simple random sampling technique. Data collection was done by filling out the questionnaire, then anayzed by using Chi-square test. Results showed 57.33% of the patients gave judgment of satisfactory to nurse caring behaviour and 42.67% gave a good assessment. 62.67% of the patients said they were satisfied with the caring services. There was a significant relationship between nurses caring with patient satisfaction. Keywords: Nurses caring, Patient satisfaction

Abstract

Introduction: Leukemia is one of the conditions of chronic disease in children. Families of children with chronic health conditions often feel helpless in meeting their child's health care needs. Powerlessness experienced by the family will affect the ability of families in providing care to their children. Many factors can affect the empowerment of families in providing care to their families. Method: This study aims to analyze family factors that affect family empowerment in treating children with leukemia leukemia. The research design used is explanation survey. The population in this study were families with children suffering from leukemia in Pediatric Ward RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Result: The results showed that there was the influence of family factor to family empowerment in caring children with leukemia equal to t: 3.801. Discussion and Conclusions: Family factors need to be taken into account in family-centered empowerment, so families can improve their ability to care for leukemia children. Increased family-based health involves the strength and ability of families in coping mechanisms, the role of nurses, to encourage families to provide support in health care. More research is needed on family-centered empowerment models in the ability to care for children with leukemia. Factors that affect family empowerment in caring for child leukemia, can be considered nurse in giving nursing intervention especially child nurse in empowering parent at the time care of child leukemia.Keywords: Leukemia, Children, Family, Factor, Empowerment

Abstract

Acute Coronary syndrome is one of the syndromes that often caused a sudden death, so it is an emergency problem that needs fast response. Knowledge is the result of knowing and it appears after someone observing to a certain object. The purpose of this research was to find out the correlation between nurse knowledge about Acute Coronary Syndrome with precise action to help according to Acute Coronary Syndrome SOP. The method that been used in this research was analytic correlation with cross sectional approach. The sample of this research was all 26th nurse at ICCU of Sidoarjo hospital. Data collection was questionnaire form to observe the nurse knowledge about Acute Coronary Syndrome and observation form to observe the precise action done by the nurse to help. The result of cross tabulation showing the knowledge of “good” categories was 12 people, 11 people was doing the right help and 1 people was wrong. The nurse knowledge on “enough” category was 13 people, 8 people doing the right help and 5 people was wrong. Knowledge on “poor” category ws 1 people and does not giving the right help. The result ws showing that there was correlation between the nurse knowledge about Acute Coronary Syndrome with the accuracy of giving help according to the SOP. It was proven that knowledge can raise the precise action done by the nurse in helping patient according to Acute Coronary Syndrom SOP. Keywords: Accuracy, Acute Coronary Syndrom, Nursing knowledge

Abstract

Models of learning and creative thinking ability are important factors that must be considered in improving student learning outcomes. The research development aims to develop research-based practice learning models to improve learning achievements in the development of assimilation and application of student knowledge. The study was conducted on undergraduate Nursing students who were carrying out the clinical practice. The method in this study was the Research Development (RD) method and the second stage was the RBL model trial. The development of RBL models in this study began with the preparation of models, expert tests, empirical tests on practical students, and continued empirical tests on students. Then the model was improved and the final product was determined (final model). Students are involved in the implementation of learning and learning reflection. This research involved 500 students. Data was collected using a student rating or self-evaluation scale consisting of 27 items. The analysis technique used  Partial Least Square (PLS). Research output is research-based practice learning models. Research-based learning can improve students’ skills in solving problems, thinking critically, scientific work skills, the mastery of physics concepts, students’ generic abilities, the science process skills in physics, and students’ science literacy. Keywords: research based learning; practice learning; knowledge
