Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of Animation Videos and Flashcard Games in Improving Knowledge about Adolescent Reproductive Health among Students of State Junior High School 2 Batu Layar in 2024. The research method used  quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent two groups design on 51 respondents using Proportionate Random Sampling technique. Animation videos and flashcard games were provided for 3 sessions per week. Data collection on knowledge was conducted using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of 95% (α = 0.05). Before the intervention, respondents had sufficient knowledge about adolescent reproductive health, with 14 respondents (54%) in the animation video group and 10 respondents (40%) in the flashcard game group falling into the category of insufficient knowledge. After the provision of animation videos, the majority of respondents, 14 individuals (54%), reached the category of good knowledge. The dependent variable in this study is sleep quality, while the independent variables are age, gender, helath status, stres, coffe consumption, smoking, environment and screen time. The data was processed desriptively and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The research results obtained were that the sleep quality of the dominant respondents in the bad category was 61 people (72,6%). The factors that contribute to students sleep quality are health status (ρ=0,046), stress (ρ=0,027), coffe (ρ=0,030) and and screen time (ρ=0,000) while factors that do not contribute to quality students sleep quality are age (ρ=0,421), gender (ρ=0,258), smoking (ρ=0,713), and  environment (ρ=0,178). Screen time is the most dominan factor with an Exp (ꞵ) value of 7,546.  The conclusion is that there is a relationship between health status, stres, coffe consumption and screen time with student`s sleep quality while age, gender, smoking and environment factors have no relationship with student`s sleep quality.

Abstract

Background: Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) should be introduced from elementary school age because poor PHBS implementation may increase the risk of environment-related diseases. A preliminary study at SDN 3 Rarang showed that students rarely received PHBS education and some students still did not wash their hands with soap and disposed of waste improperly. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effect of health education through a matching game on students' knowledge and attitudes regarding PHBS. MethodsThis study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population consisted of 64 fourth- and fifth-grade students at SDN 3 Rarang, and 39 respondents were selected using proportional random sampling. The intervention was conducted on February 14, 2026, through health education and a card-matching game focusing on handwashing and proper waste disposal indicators. Data were collected using knowledge and attitude questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: Handwashing knowledge improved from mostly poor (87.2%) to sufficient (64.1%) and good (35.9%). Knowledge of proper waste disposal improved from mostly sufficient (48.7%) to good (94.9%). Positive attitudes toward handwashing increased from 33.3% to 53.8%, while positive attitudes toward proper waste disposal increased from 41.0% to 64.1%. The Wilcoxon test showed p < 0.001 for all variables. Conclusion Health education through a matching game influenced students' knowledge and attitudes regarding PHBS and may be recommended as an educational medium in school health programs.
