Abstract

Problems of forage management in the integration of livestock into oil palm and rubber plantations in Indonesia are declining of light as the canopy of the plant increases and acid soils containing low available P, Cu, and Zn. The objective of experiment was to study the effect of shading and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculations on the production and content of P, Cu, and Zn of Pueraria phaseoloides (Roxb.) Benth (puero). The experiment was arranged according to the split plot design with three replicates in a green house. Treatments tested were shading as the main plot (0%, 25%, 50%, and 75%) and AMF inoculations as sub plots (indigenous AMF, Glomus manihotis, indigenous AMF + G. manihotis and no inoculation). Root biomass was affected by shading level while leaf stem ratio was affected by both shading level and AMF inoculations. Inoculations with G. manihotis and indigenous + G. manihotis indicated higher herbage production and P contents than inoculations with indigenous AMF. Effectiveness of AMF inoculation on improvement of production and P uptake varied according to shading conditions. P. phaseoloides was tolerant to shading up to 50% and its production and P content as responses on inoculation of AMF were affected by soil conditions and shading intensity. Inoculation of G. manihotis and its combination with indigenous AMF improved production and P content of Pueraria phaseoloides in shading level upto 50%.

Abstract

Carbon emissions is one of the activities of agroecosystem impacts of oil palm on peat land as a result of the making drainage and plant growth. This research was conducted in the area of oil palm agroecosystem on peat land landscape, Ogan Komering Ilir District, South Sumatra with the aim of estimating reserves and carbon emissions on the land. Contribution of carbon emissions on the land with plant age 5, 3 and 2 years without drainage channels are respectively 12.027; 11.262 and 9.783 tons CO2/year, as well as plants age of 5 years with the drainage channel is 14.723 tons of CO2/year. Contribution of carbon emissions from the making drainage channel reaches 2,696 tons of CO2/ha/year and greater than the contribution of carbon emissions from the aging plant palm oil annually, amounting to 0.383 to 1.479 tons of CO2/ha/year.

Abstract

Yohanes N, Yakup Y.  2022. Effect of planting media and liquid fertilizer dosage on oil palm growth in main nursery. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang  27 Oktober 2022. pp. 641-650.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).One of the advancements in oil palm cultivation is seeding techniques and the development of superior seeds. This study aimed to investigate the effect of manure on growing media and bio fertilizer is best to growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. This research was conducted in the village of Suka Sari, District Alang-alang Lebar, Palembang. This research used Randomized Factorial Design (RAKF) with 3 replications. The first factor is manure treatment that consisted of three treatments P1 (0%), P2 (25%), P3 (50%), and the second factor giving biofitalik with three treatments and three times the B1 (5 cc/l), B2 (10 cc/l), B3 (15 cc/l). Observations were obtained concentrations of manure significant effect of the number of leaves, and no significant effect on plant height increment, increased girth, plant weight, root fresh weight and dry weight of roots. In general liquid fertilizer has not significantly influenced all parameters were observed. Interaction between treatment of manure and liquid fertilizer biofitalik no real effect.

Abstract

Marine tourism has become one of Gorontalo’s key attractions, particularly through the whale shark sightings in Botubarani Village. However, existing branding efforts and digital promotion have not yet captured the region’s local strengths effectively. This community engagement program was carried out to formulate a branding strategy that highlights conservation, cultural values, and the unique character of Gorontalo’s shark tourism, while also enhancing the community’s digital promotion skills. The study employed a participatory qualitative approach through outreach activities, training sessions, focus group discussions, and mentoring involving 40 participants from various community groups. Data were collected through observation, simple questionnaires, and documentation, and were analyzed using a SWOT framework. The results show that a strong destination brand can be developed through three main pillars: whale shark conservation, strengthening local culture, and advancing coastal MSME products. Digital training significantly improved the community’s ability to produce photo, video, and narrative content, making the village’s social media more active and well-directed. The SWOT analysis produced practical strategies that stakeholders can apply to reinforce the destination’s identity. These findings emphasize that conservation- and culture-based branding, supported by digital marketing, can enhance community participation and strengthen the competitiveness of marine tourism in a sustainable manner.
