Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of descriptive norms and personality traits in predicting contraflow riding behavior among motorcyclists. A correlational study was conducted to 156 riders who have the active riding licenses, aged 17 to 51 years old. Participants was given validated scenarios to measure descriptive norm and the contraflow riding behavior, and the Indonesian adapted version of the Big Five self-report to measure extraversion and conscientiousness traits. The results show that descriptive norms have a significant role in predicting contraflow riding behavior. Age has also a significant role in predicting contraflow riding behavior.  When the riders perceived that many riders perform contraflow behavior and the younger their age, they are more likely to perform the contraflow riding behavior. Based on this study, the policy makers should make a serious effort in developing the descriptive norms to reduce contraflow riding behavior, especially among young motorcyclists.

Abstract

Aceh in the northern part of Sumatra island - Indonesia has experienced the most severe destruction by tsunami in December 2004. This study aims to find out whether there are differences in the resilience of Acehnese young adults and late adolescent survivors, as well as to identify the protective factors underlying the resilience of Aceh young adult survivors. Quantitative and qualitative approaches were conducted to identify the resilience of tsunami survivors using the characteristics of resilience proposed by Wagnild (2009). Results showed that resilience score of young adults were higher than resilience score of late adolescents. The meaningfulness, equanimity, existential aloneness, and perseverance were growing to support the resilience of young adult survivors. Moreover, Aceh cultural values were also identified as protective factors contributing to the participants’ resilience. The implication of this study is important for the healing programs for the tsunami survivors. Aceh di bagian Utara pulau Sumatra-Indonesia telah mengalami kerusakan yang paling parah oleh tsunami Desember 2004. Tujuan studi ini adalah menemukan apakah ada perbedaan dalam daya pulih antara penyintas tsunami dewasa muda Aceh dan penyintas tsunami remaja akhir, demikian pula untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor pelindung yang mendasari ketabahan para dewasa muda Aceh. Pendekatan kuantitatif maupun kualitatif dipakai untuk mengidentifikasi ketabahan para penyintas tsunami dengan mengacu pada karakteristik daya pulih yang dikemukankan oleh Wagnild (2009). Hasil-hasil menunjukkan bahwa skor daya pulih para penyintas dewasa Aceh lebih tinggi daripada skor daya pulih para penyintas remaja akhir. Kebermaknaan, ketenangan hati, kesendirian eksistensial, dan ketekunan bertumbuh untuk mendukung daya pemulihan para penyintas dewasa muda Selain itu nilai-nilai budaya Aceh juga diidentifikasi sebagai factor-faktor pelindung yang berkontribusi terhadap daya pemulihan para partisipan. Implikasi studi ini penting untuk program-progran penyembuhan para penyintas tsunami.

Abstract

Assessors play a central role in assessment center (AC) but few educationally grounded tools exist to evaluate or train rating accuracy. Therefore, this research aimed to develop a simulated AC designed for assessor learning and examining social-cognitive judgment processes. The development followed the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing and six structured stages, integrating principles from Funder’s Realistic Accuracy Model (RAM). The simulation targets two dimensions assessed through written and oral presentation exercises. The task content was derived from real assessee performances, transformed into standardized scenarios, and performed by trained roleplayers. The simulation was piloted with 23 psychology graduate students serving as novice assessors following expert review. The results showed that there was a significant dimension-by-exercise interactions in rating accuracy in line with RAM’s emphasis on cue availability and interpretation. The simulated AC offered a fidelity-based tool for advancing understanding of assessor cognition and strengthening training practices.

Abstract

Decision to move to other job (turnover) is a complex process as the individual needs to consider some alternatives before he/she decides whether to keep or leave his/her current job. This study is done to get a picture about (a) the process of decision making to move to other job based on Mobley's model of decision making process (1977), and (b)their satisfaction as a result of the decision. Quantitative method is used (as dominant component) in combination with qualitative method (as less dominant component). Attitude scale and questionnaire were used in the quantitative method whereas focus interview was used in the qualitative method. From the participants (N=40) involved in the quantitative method, 3 of them were taken for the qualitative inquiries. The result shows that only 55.5%of the participants pass through all levels of Mobley's model of decision making process. Those who follow all the level of decision making process feel satisfied with their decision to turnover to the new job. Putusan untuk pindah kerja (turnover) merupakan suatu proses yang kompleks, membutuhkan berbagai alternatif dan pertimbangan untuk sampai pada putusan apakah akan tetap bertahan pada pekerjaan yang sedang digeluti, atau pindah kerja. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai (a) proses (tahap-tahap) yang dilalui individu dalam mengambil putusan pindah kerja dengan mengacu pada model proses pengambilan putusan pindah kerja yang dikemukakan oleh Mobley (1977), dan (b) kepuasan yang dirasakan sebagai hasil putusan pindah kerja Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengombinasikan pendekatan kuantitatif (sebagai komponen dominan) dan pendekatan kualitatif (sebagai komponen kurang dominan). Untuk pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan pengukuran dengan skala sikap dan kuesioner, sedangkan untuk pendekatan kualitatif dilakukan wawancara terfokus. Sampel (N=40) untuk pendekatan kuantitatif , 3 orang diantaranya dilibatkan dalam pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwahanya 55.5% subjek penelitian yang melalui semua tahapan pengambilan putusan pindah kerjayang dikemukakan Mobey (1977). Mereka yang mengikuti semua tahapan proses pengambilan putusan pindah kerja cenderung merasa puas terhadap putusan untuk pindah kerja.
