Abstract

Lead Apron is a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) against the effect of Ionizing Radiation such as X-ray. It is essential for the radiation worker to wear Radiation Protection Equipment during commissions involving ionizing radiation. In Pekanbaru, Indonesia the most common radiation worker is Radiographer which help in hospital for diagnose. In this study the Lead Apron analyzed were 6 apron which suspected to have fault due to its inappropriate tend using NDT radiography methods. Radiography methods have advantage of graphic presentation of object unlike any NDT-methods. The image produce from radiography were analyzed using Computed Radiography (CR) and measured the defection of the material. There was only 3 of 6 Lead Apron appropriate for radiation protection.

Abstract

On abdominal examination, obstructive ileus was performed in 3 positions, namely Antero Posterior (AP), half sitting and Left lateral decubitus (LLD). LLD projection aims to show free air in the intraperitoneal cavity in cases of acute abdomen, so that the patient remains on the examination table in the left lateral position for 10 to 20 minutes before abdominal radiography is performed. While the abdominal examination of the LLD projection at the ER Radiology Installation at the Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, did not use the exposure waiting time, so there was a difference between theory and the field. The purpose of this study was to determine the procedure for radiographic examination of the LLD projection of the abdomen in cases of obstructive ileus at the ER Radiology Installation at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, by not using the exposure waiting time, to establish a diagnosis. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach through library research, field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research was conducted at the Radiology Installation of Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province from May-June 2020. The procedure for radiographic examination of the LLD projection of the abdomen in the case of obstructive ileus at the ER Radiology Installation at the Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province by not using the exposure waiting time, was able to establish the diagnosis but the resulting radiographic results, namely air fluid levels were not maximal

Abstract

Radiation is a form of energy and heat transfer without transfer medium. These kind of energy and heat transfer found with the sun. Many types of radiation are varied with their spectrum. Radiation Spectrum is depends on its energy and wave length. Radiation with longer wavelength has low energy. The high energy radiation could cause the electron emission within the atomic orbit that called as ionizing radiation. These radiations could give effects to human body such as cancer and fatality. Radiation could be found in the daily life, eg: sun ray, radio wave. Wifi, etc. These radiations are within the safe range spectrum, but any dangerous radiation also could be found exposed the society without realize. Ionizing radiation also could be found in foods such as vegie and fruit that contaminated by radionuclide from mine and factory waste. Ionizing radiation inhaled to human body constantly by radon inhalation that surfaces by the crack of earth crust. The lack of awareness of radiation hazards bring this community services to emerged. The method is by giving lecture to the student of Al Fath Health Focational School in Siak. Lecture delivered with attractive media, games and doorprize, so students could focus more to the lecture given. At the end of the Lecture, the participant given the questioner to evaluate their comprehension of the lecture. The result is objectively the participant comprehend the radiation’s hazard in daily life. After this community service, the Student of Al Fath Health Focational Schoold could comprehend the existence and danger of radiation in everyday’s life.

Abstract

In 2020 WHO gave the status that Corona Virus Disease -19 (COVID-19) became a Global Pandemic. Health workers who handle cases of COVID-19 are responsible for protecting themselves and others to break the chain of spread of COVID-19. One of the medical personnel involved in handling COVID-19 is a radiographer. The role of radiographers in handling COVID-19 in hospitals needs to be socialized more, considering its very important role in evaluating patient health and requiring radiographers to have direct contact with positive patients. For radiographers, the source of danger at work is not only COVID-19, but ionizing radiation is also a source of danger that must also be taken into account. The public must also be aware of the risks and challenges faced by radiographers in their work during this pandemic. The method used in this community service is by presentation or extension or education. This Community Service is carried out to introduce the role of radiographers in hospitals when there are patients with COVID-19 cases, so that these health workers can be more recognized by the general public. The target audience for this community service is SMA (High School) students with the aim of cultivating an interest in the younger generation to become radiographic health workers. As a result of this community service, participants were given knowledge about radiology, starting from workers (radiographers), the tools used to their role in the health world. The results of participants' understanding of Community Service activities, all participants understood the role of radiographers in treating COVID-19 patients in hospitals and 91% of participants understood what a radiographer was, and as many as 64% of participants were interested in becoming radiographers, and the remaining 36% of participants were not interested. be a radiographer. Community service activities regarding the role of radiographers in hospitals have been carried out well. Participants become more familiar with the duties of workers in the radiation field.
