Abstract

A study on growth rate of male rabbit fed different levels of fermented coffee pulp was carried out at Gulingan village, Mengwi, Badung regency, Bali province from August to October 2013. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatments and eight replicates in each treatment was used in this experiment.  The treatment were diet  without coffee  pulp (R0),  diet with 10%  unfermented coffee pulp (R1), diet with 20% unfermented coffee pulp (R2), diet with 10% fermented coffee pulp (R3), and diet with 20% fermented coffee pulp (R4). Each treatment consisted of 8 male five week old local rabbits as replication. Variables observed were final body weight, weight gain, feed intake, water consumption, feed efficiency, dry matter, energy and protein digestibility. The results showed that rabbits  given ration with 10% fermented coffee pulp (R3) revealed has higher dry matter energy and protein digestibility. Further, that had highest final body weight, weight gain and highest feed efficiency. From the result of the experiment can the  concluded that the use of 10% fermented coffee pulp in the diet produced the highest performance (P<0,05)  compared to other treatments. The use of fermented coffee  pulp 10% could be recommended to farmers for substituting rice brand in rabbits diets.

Abstract

Upaya peningkatan produktivitas ternak sapi di daerah Bali itu dihadapkan pada keterbatasan jumlah hijauan pakan ternak khususnya di musim kemarau, sehingga perlu dicarikan pakan alternatif untuk mensubstitusi rumput lapangan/HMT. Salah satu alternatif untuk penyediaan pakan yang murah dan kompetitif adalah melalui pemanfaatan limbah pertanian terutama jerami padi. Untuk meningkatkan kandungan nutrisi jerami padi perlu dilakukan pengolahan/fermentasi. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan jerami padi terfermentasi terhadap produktivitas sapi bali dara. Penelitian menggunakan18 ekor sapi bali betina umur 12 bulan yang dibagi dalam 3 perlakuan yaitu: P0: sapi diberikan pakan HMT (kontrol), P1: sapi diberikan 50% HMT + 50% jerami padi terfermentasi + dedak padi 1 kg/ekor/hari+ probiotik Promix 200gr/100 kg konsentrat, P2: sapi diberikan 50% HMT + 50% jerami padi terfermentasi + dedak padi 1 kg/ekor/hari + probiotik Starbio 250gr/100 kg konsentrat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan P2 memberikan peningkatan berat badan harian tertinggi (0,34kg/ekor/hari), selisih skor kondisi tubuh ternak(1,4), angka service perconception terrendah (1,25), serta berat lahir pedet (17 kg/ekor). Umur kebuntingan terendah terjadi pada kelompok kontrol (286 hari). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan pemberian pakan HMT+jerami padi terfermentasi yang dikombinasikan dengan dedak padi dan probiotik mampu maningkatkan produktivitas sapi bali.
