Abstract

Pelatihan Tour Guide ini dilakukan untuk menumbuhkan kemampuan masyarakat desa wisata Kurau Barat dalam berbahasa Inggris untuk mempromosikan kekuatan wisata yang ada di Desa Kurau Barat. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, perlu dilakukan pelatihan Tour Guide berbahasa Inggris untuk masyarakat desa wisata Kurau Barat. Program ini dilakukan di Desa Kurau Barat, Kabupaten Bangka Tengah dengan peserta berjumlah 15 orang selama 8 minggu. Pengurus Desa Kurau Barat sangat mendukung dengan adanya pelatihan ini. Tujuan dari kegiatan yaitu peserta menerapkan praktik Tour Guide untuk mempromosikan wisata di Desa Kurau Barat. Keberhasilan peserta pada pelatihan ini dilihat dan diukur dari hasil praktik dalam mempromosikan wisata dengan menjadi Tour Guide serta mampu meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan keberanian dalam mempromosikan wisata desa. Hasil akhir dan saran sesuai dengan evaluasi peserta merasa puas dan bersedia mengikuti kegiatan apabila diselenggarakan pelatihan ataupun kegiatan pengabdian lainnya selama itu bisa memberikan manfaat untuk masyarakat.

Abstract

Live learning experience bagi siswa di tingkat sekolah dasar dengan menggunakan media visual mampu menambah wawasan dan pengalaman belajar. Namun kegiatan tersebut tidak dapat dilaksanakan di masa pandemi COVID-19 karena mayoritas sekolah menerapkan pembelajaran daring. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, terdapat beberapa keterbatasan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring. Selain itu, penggunaan media pembelajaran sains masih kurang diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dan mengingat pentingnya meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris bagi peserta didik, maka dipandang perlu untuk mengadakan suatu pelatihan guna meningkatkan keterampilan mengembangkan media pembelajaran visual pada pelajaran sains yang terintegrasi dengan Bahasa Inggris bagi guru sekolah dasar. Kegiatan ini bertujuan agar guru sekolah dasar mampu membuat media pembelajaran visual yang mudah dibuat dan digunakan pada saat pandemi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah pelatihan online melalui aplikasi Zoom. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta mampu merancang dan mengembangkan media pembelajaran sains terintegrasi bahasa Inggris yang efektif dan inovatif.

Abstract

After doing an observation and interview with teachers, the researchers found that English and science were taught in a conventional method and were not thoroughly learnt. Hence, the teaching was not effectively conducted, and learning often ended up in boredom, which resulted in ineffective teaching and learning atmosphere. The objectives of this research were to create a combined English language and science pop-up book learning media for animal and human movement organs and to acknowledge its feasibility. The 4D development steps developed by S. Thiagarajan et al. were used in the research design, consisting of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The participants included in this research were the 5th-grade students of SD N 26 Belinyu, consisting of 35 students. Out of 35, 20 were female, and 15 were male. Two senior female teachers in the same school were also included in the interview. Data were collected by documentation, expert validation sheets, feasibility test sheets and user response questionnaires. Expert validation was conducted by two expert judgments, while language validation was justified by two language experts in Bahasa Indonesia and English. The results showed that the benefits students gain from using pop-up book media include seeing, opening, and shutting images on the pop-up book, which helps strengthen children's motor development.

Abstract

Based on the students’ needs analysis of the two senior high schools in the coastal area of Bangka Island, Bangka Selatan regency, developing higher-order thinking skill for English materials product is as a standpoint in crucial necessity. This paper pinpoints the issues of R&D about formulating the HOTS – based English materials for the tenth-grade learners of coastal schools in Bangka Selatan. The students at the tenth grade in two senior high schools (SHSs) in Bangka Selatan as the subjects of this research with the total number of the subject were 65 students. This research design used ADDIE from Lee and Owens (assessment or analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). Questionnaires were distributed to find the data. Then, the collected data were examined using a descriptive quantitative method. The final result revealed that students respond positively to the HOTS-based English materials as well as the product is beneficial and valid to use. It gains students creativity to solve high order thinking skill activities that are arranged in the product tasks. Keywords: HOTS, English Material, Ten Grade
