Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk memberikan pelatihan peningkatan motivasi berwirausaha pemuda melalui Karang Taruna Desa Doho Kecamatan Dolopo Kabupaten Madiun untuk memberikan solusi permasalahan yang ada pada Karang Taruna Desa Doho Kecamatan Dolopo Kabupaten Madiun. Adapun permasalahannya yaitu 1) masih minimnya ilmu pengetahuan tentang wirausaha bagi anggota karang taruna, 2) peran karang taruna yang belum optimal dalam meningkatkan motivasi berwirausaha bagi anggotanya, dan 3) peran karang taruna yang belum optimal dalam menyediakan sarana prasarana berwirausaha bagi anggotanya. Solusi yang diberikan adalah dengan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman mereka dalam peningkatan motivasi berwirausaha pemuda melalui Karang Taruna Desa Doho, Kecamatan Dolopo, Kabupaten Madiun.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran kepada guru-guru Yayasan Dharmawanita Desa Tanjungsari, Kecamatan Panekan, Kabupaten Magetan tentang pemanfaatan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Barang bekas adalah benda-benda yang pernah dipakai (sisa), yang kegunaannnya tidak sama seperti benda yang baru. Sedangkan media adalah semua bentuk perantara, termasuk manusia , materi , atau kejadian, yang di gunakan oleh manusia untuk menyampaikan atau menyampaikan ide atau pendapat sehingga siswa mampu memperoleh pengetahuan , keterampilan , atau sikap. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga bagian, yaitu: metode ceramah, metode diskusi dan metode praktek. Selain itu, kerangka evaluasi disusun dalam dua bagian. Yang pertama, evaluasi dilakuakn selama proses kegiatan. Sedangkan bagian evaluasi kedua dilakukan pasca pelatihan. Indikator yang digunakan untuk mengukur keberhasilan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah mulai munculnya kesadaran dari para guru akan potensi bahan bekas sebagai media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Hal ini akan diikuti dengan inovasi-inovasi dan kreatifitas mandiri yang dilakukan oleh para guru untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka di masa depan.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan memberikan bekal pengetahuan tentang parenting menghadapi tantangan RI 4.0. Program parenting ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi bagi permasalahan yang dihadapi orang tua santri TPQ Nurul Ahsani Desa Wonojoyo, Kecamatan Gurah, Kabupaten Kediri, yaitu pengetahuan parenting terkait dengan komunikasi, teknologi, kedisiplinan dan manajemen waktu, serta pola asuh anak dalam berbagai faktor dalam menghadapi tantangan revolusi industri 4.0. Hal ini semua demi terwujudnya kualitas pendidikan keluarga yang diharapkan meningkat. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk penyuluhan atau pendampingan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan simulasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini bisa dilihat dari hasil sebelum dan sesudah pre test dan post test materi juga dari hasil simulasi materi parenting yang diberikan serta antusias para orangtua santri dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Ke depannya, perlu diadakan penyuluhan dan pendampingan serta monitoring lebih lanjut dari tim PkM agar bisa lebih konkrit hasilnya pada pola asuh para orangtua santri TPQ dalam menghadapi tantangan revolusi industri 4.0.

Abstract

Listening is one of the skills that must be possessed by learners who learn a language. Listening becomes very important skill because it supports other skills that is speaking. The skills must always be trained to improve. Listening courses are currently done by manual, which students answer on a piece of paper and lecturers check the test result manually. The research used Research and Development method. The output of research is an application that is still in the form of prototype. With this application, lecturers more easily in organizing listening test questions and facilitate scoring test results. From the results of the validation of media experts and material experts, 68.75% were obtained. From these results, the application still needs revisions. From the results of testing to students, the results obtained 92% and can be categorized into valid criteria. Research can be continued to test its use while on learning process so that it can be used as teaching material that is suitable for use in the listening courses in the following semester.

Abstract

The main aim of the research was to find out the improvement of the students’ writing skill through a clustering technique. This study was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was done in three cycles by following the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of the research were 26 students of English Study Program in Madiun State Polytechnic. The data collected were in the forms of qualitative and quantitative. The researchers used quantitative data taken from the scores before implementing a clustering technique (pre-test) and the scores after the implementation (post-test). Besides, quantitatative data were taken from the interview and observation to reveal the improvement after the implementation of a clustering technique. The results showed that the students were interested in writing by using a clustering technique. As a result, most of the students gradually improve their writing skill in composing a paragraph at the end of each cycle. The current study provides an insight for teaching writing for EFL students especially in developing good paragraphs.

Abstract

In this study, which began with an initial speaking score of 60.5, the main objective was to enhance students’ English-speaking skills through structured dialogue by applying Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The research was conducted using a Collaborative Classroom Action Research approach, which followed four key stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. These stages were carried out in distinct cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. Data were collected through several instruments, including structured dialogue tasks to measure speaking performance, questionnaires to evaluate students’ perceptions of PBL practice, and field notes to capture classroom dynamics. The participants of this study were fourth-semester students of the D3 English Study Program at the State Polytechnic. The findings indicated a significant improvement in students’ English-speaking performance across the two cycles. In Cycle I, the total score achieved was 1,500, with an average of 75 and a success percentage of 70%. In Cycle II, the total score increased to 1,700, with an average of 85 and a success percentage of 90%. This shows a substantial enhancement not only in terms of numerical achievement but also in students’ active engagement and confidence during structured dialogue activities. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the PBL approach in facilitating learning also improved notably. In Cycle I, the average effectiveness score was 6.4, while in Cycle II, it rose to 9.4. These findings suggest that integrating structured dialogue with PBL provides an effective strategy to foster students’ speaking proficiency. It also highlights the potential of collaborative classroom action research in promoting reflective teaching practices and sustained learning improvement.

Abstract

This classroom action research (CAR) aims to improve the level of students' English proficiency, specifically emphasizing their writing abilities.  The researchers aimed to investigate whether diary writing could elevate the writing abilities of second-semester students enrolled in the English Study Program at State Polytechnic of Madiun during the academic year 2024/2025. This research was carried out at Madiun State Polytechnic during the 2024/2025 academic year within Class A.  The researchers collected both qualitative and quantitative data.  The qualitative data collected from the scores obtained before the research and during its course, while quantitative data is utilized to compare the outcomes before and after the research, based on observations and interviews. The results of this study indicate that diary writing centered on visiting tourist attractions, memorable experiences, and national catastrophes can improve the writing proficiency of students enrolled in the English study program.  The impact of the increase is observable in the average scores of the pre-test and post-tests for each cycle, with values gradually ascending across cycles: pre-test 61, post-test cycle I 64, post-test cycle II 67, and post-test cycle III 71.
