Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah bagi organisasi Ikatan Pelajar Putri Nahdlatul Ulama’ (IPPNU) Kecamatan Dolopo, yang secara umum perlu ditingkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuannya dalam menulis artikel ilmiah dikarenakan anggota-anggota dari IPPNU adalah anak-anak terpelajar yang masih sekolah dan kuliah yang merupakan salah satu unsur penting dalam pengembangan keahlian mereka dalam tata tulis karya ilmiah. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk (1) memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang cara-cara menulis karya ilmiah, (2) membantu anggota-anggota IPPNU menghasilkan karya ilmiah berupa naskah artikel tentang pendidikan sesuai bidang dan program keahlian mereka masing-masing. Pelatihan ini diawali dengan penjelasan disertai contoh-contoh (dari judul, latar belakang, metode, hasil, pembahasan, kesimpulan, implikasi, dan referensi). Solusi yang diberikan adalah dengan adanya pelatihan penyusunan karya ilmiah bagi organisasi Ikatan Pelajar Putri Nahdlatul ’Ulama’ (IPPNU) untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman anggota organisasi Ikatan Pelajar Putri Nahdlatul Ulama’ (IPPNU) Kecamatan Dolopo, Kabupaten Madiun tentang cara menulis karya ilmiah yang baik sehingga dapat menyelesaikan yang dihadapi dengan dibuktikan adanya hasil pre-test dan post-test tentang cara penulisan karya ilmiah yang mana peserta hanya mampu menjawab dengan nilai 70 sebanyak 3 0rang (30%), dan nilai 60 sebanyak 5 orang (40%) , dan nilai > 60 sebanyak 2 orang (30%). Hal ini berarti bahwa sebelum pelatihan penyusunan karya ilmiah bagi organisasi Ikatan Pelajar Putri Nahdlatul Ulama’ (IPPNU) Kecamatan Dolopo Kabupaten Madiun masih kurang memahami. Setelah pelatihan dan pendampingan dilakukan hasilnya sebanyak 2 orang (10%) mendapatkan nilai 90, mendapat nilai 80 sebanyak 3 orang (30%), nilai 70 sebanyak 4 orang (50%) dan yang mendapat nilai 60 sebanyak 1 orang (10%).

Abstract

The new paradigm on the position of English in the world has shifted as now English was no longer the property of native speakers. This shifting paradigm challenge the traditional assumption of English teaching world on whether English teachers should incorporate local or target culture in their teaching materials. This is a qualitative research using critical literature review method. This article provides a discussion about the issue of representation of local content in English teaching materials in Indonesia context. The issue is analysed from various perspectives, they are: world Englishes, English as International Language, culture and identity, materials development and how they shape the idea of how English teaching materials in Indonesia should be developed. Conclusion and a few recommendations about the issue of local content in teaching materials in Indonesia are presented and discussed in the end of the paper.

Abstract

This article discusses Indonesian State Polytechnic students understanding and reasons towards silence and lack of oral participation in class. It is a qualitative case study conducted with two students from English study program. The authors conducted semi-structured interview and then analyzed the data using a constant comparisons method. Both students realize that they were one of the quietest students in the class. It is revealed that the causes of their silence are lack of speaking skills that related to their study program, shyness in the classroom and lack of background knowledge related with their fields. Their silence in classroom could not be interpreted as their unwillingness to contribute in class, rather than a process they should go through whenever they use English at class orally. Besides indicate the need to find a more suitable teaching approach to help students in class, this finding also suggest that teachers or lecturers need to understand the reason behind students’ silence better.

Abstract

Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dengan memberikan bekal pengetahuan tentang manajemen organisasi bagi Pengurus pengurus masjid AL Hidayah Wonojoyo Gurah Kediri, yang secara umum perlu ditingkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuannya dalam organisasi pengelolaan masjid dalam bentuk pelatihan / penyuluhan. Hal ini dilaksanakan agar pengurus masjid ALHidayah bisa mencapai tujuan organisasi dengan bekerjasama secara efisien dan terencana dengan baik. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk (1) memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang manajemen masjid dengan mengantisipasi perkembangan yang terus berubah dalam kehidupan masyarakat yang maju dan berkualitas, (2) membantu Pengurus Masjid Al Hidayah menjalankan organisasinya demi mencapai suatu tujuan secara efektif dan efisien dengan usaha kegiatan sekecil mungkin dan memperoleh hasil yang maksimal sesuai seksi mereka masing-masing. Pelatihan ini diawali dengan penjelasan akan pengertian sederhana tentang manajemen disertai empat fungsi manajemen yang disingkat POAC, yaitu (1) Planning, (2) Organizing, (3) Actuating, dan (4) Controlling. Melalui pengabdian ini diharapkan proses berjalannya manajemen, pengurus organisasi, deskripsi tugas ketua dan anggota organisasi, serta prinsip-prinsip managemen organisasi masjid AL Hidayah Wonojoyo Gurah Kediri bisa lancar. Dalam pengabdian ini, kegiatan lebih menekankan pada pelatihan yang konkrit sehingga ketua dan anggota Pengurus masjid AL Hidayah Wonojoyo Gurah Kediri mengetahui melalui berbagai pengalaman yang mereka lakukan sendiri dengan mempraktekan managemen organisasi.

Abstract

English is used globally as a means of communication. In the business context, BELF is used as the framework on how communicating using English among speakers from multicultural background should be done. Since English is a foreign language in Indonesia and was taught in education system, the purpose of the study is to understand teachers or lecturers’ beliefs in BELF. BELF is specifically formulated in the context of business English. Therefore, the participants of this study were those who have experience teaching it. The result indicated that all of the participants teaching practice share the same characteristics with BELF even though they were not familiar with BELF as a term

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to gain insights into how English lecturers perceive and integrate generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their teaching, an increasingly relevant topic in education. Guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the research involved two lecturers from a higher education context. Findings reveal a shift in perception: although both participants were initially reluctant due to unfamiliarity and concerns about learning quality, they gradually embraced AI after firsthand experience. They now recognize its potential to support teaching while maintaining careful oversight to ensure it does not compromise the learning process. Their evolving views highlight the importance of adaptability and critical awareness in incorporating AI into English language education.
