Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the growth and productivity of male bred Ettawa goats that are fed with different animal feeds. The study was conducted for 4 months, from January to April 2016, at the village of Ranomentaa in the sub district of Toari, Kolaka regency. The used involved 12 male bred Ettawa goats, aging between 4-6 months and placed in 12 individual cages. The study used the Complete Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 4 repetitions, including Treatment 1 (P1), P2 (50% of mulberry leaves, 50% of gliricidia leaves), and P3 (100% of gliricidia leaves). Parameters under observation in the study were increase of body weight (PBB), weight of slaughtered animal, weight and percentage of carcass, weight and percentage of non-carcass. Results of the study showed that the average of PBB of P3 (26.98 g/day) was significantly different (P<0.05) from P2 (22.83 g/day) and P1 (22.42 g/day), whereas P2 and P1 were not significantly different. This was in line with the average of slaughtered animal weight from the highest to the lowest, namely P3 (13.29 kg), P2 (11.21 kg), and P1 (10.37 kg), followed by the average of carcass weight which was significantly affected (P<0.05) by the treatment. The average of carcass weight was P1 (4.17 kg), P2 (4.42 kg), and P3 (5.38 kg), whereas the average of carcass percentage had no significant different (P<0.05) due to the treatment with the range of 38.43–39.43%. Similarly, the weight and percentage of non-carcass were within the range of 50.73–55.09%. Based on the results of this study, it could be concluded that while feeding goats with gliricidia and mulberry leaves had a significant effect on the increase of body weight, weight of slaughtered animal, and weight of carcass, it had no significant effect on carcass percentage, weight of non-carcass, and percentage of carcass. Keywords: gliricidia leaves, mulberry leaves, growth and productivity of male PE goats

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the performance of body size at the age of 205 days and 365 days of cross-breeding offspring from Bali cattle and Brahman bulls. This research was conducted from March to September 2021, which took place in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The materials used were 50 cows that were artificially inseminated by Brahman bulls with Balinese cows. Parameters observed were body length (cm) aged 205 days and 365 days, chest circumference (cm) and shoulder height. The research results are; The body length of a cow aged 205 days was 96.04±2.4 cm and the body length of a cow aged 365 days was 106.28±1.82 cm, the chest circumference of a cow aged 205 was 125.78±2.94cm and a chest circumference of a cow aged 365 days was 143 ,78±4.09 cm, shoulder height of 205 days old cow 96.1±2.69 cm and shoulder height 105.74±2.17 cm. The conclusion is,, The performance of body measurements (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) cattle aged 205 days and 365 days from cross-breeding of Brahman bulls with Balinese mothers through artificial insemination programs is better than the marriage of Balinese bulls with cows. Bali. Crossing the Indicus (Brahman) cattle with the Sondaicus (Bali) cattle can improve the performance of the body size of the cattle.

Abstract

One of the problems that exist in the community is the lack of identification of the reproductive performance of prospective brooders of Bali cattle that are artificially inseminated. The researcher conducted a research to determine the reproductive performance of Bali Cattle inseminated with Brahman Cattle Semen in SECP (Special Effort for Cows to be Pregnant Program) Program in Kolaka Regency. The parameters observed in this study were; artificial insemination's first age (Years), How many times the artificial insemination (AI) was pregnant (S/C), Length of pregnancy (months), Calving Interval (CI) (months), Birth weight (Kilograms), Correlation of AI's first age with birth weight. Sources of date used in this study are primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques carried out in this study were observation and interviews. The date obtained was analyzed descriptively, analysis of variance, average, and to calculate the relationship between variables was analyzed by correlation. Reproductive performance of Bali Cattle inseminated with Brahman Cattle Semen in SECP Program in Kolaka district include; first age AI 23.63±1.99 months, Service per Conception (S/C) 1.56±0.55, gestational age 9.03±0.38 months, Calving Interval (CI) 12.24±0 .52 months, birth weight 27.85 ± 2.96 and the correlation between AI prime age and birth spacing was 0.77.

Abstract

Processing local food sago is a hereditary activity carried out by some people in the East Kolaka Regency. This activity has been able to provide additional income for the community, so that it has an impact on increasing household income. However, differences in technology and the ability to provide raw materials from each processor ultimately affect differences in the income that can be generated. This research aims to determine the welfare of the local sago food processing community in East Kolaka Regency based on the level of per capita income and income distribution. This research was conducted in August 2023. Location determination was carried out purposively with 68 respondents. The data analysis used is per capita income analysis, which is formulated from the income analysis equation and Gini ratio analysis. The results of the research show that the local sago food processing community in East Kolaka Regency is in the high welfare category, where the per capita income generated by respondents is IDR 7,440,136.-. Gini ratio analysis shows that the Gini ratio coefficient value is 0.58, which means that the level of income inequality in local sago food processing communities in the East Kolaka Regency is in the high category.
