Abstract

The development of boat technology and traditional fishing gear, which is still predominantly used by fishing communities in Indonesia, appears to be running slowly. This study aims to determine the adaptations and technological innovations that have been applied in fishing communities for the development of capture fisheries technology in Tomini Gulf. Data and information about fishing boats and fishing gear in the form of types, functions, sizes, structures, pictures, raw materials, and changes in shape, changes in function, as well as adaptations and technological innovations that occur are obtained by field surveys conducted in fishing villages. Other data were obtained through in-depth interviews with fishermen and community leaders using interview grid instruments. Adaptations and innovations that occur in fishing boats include the use of bodi hull types on ketinting (long-tail outboard engine) boats and the use of fiberglass and PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) pipe as substitutes for wood and bamboo as raw materials for hull and outrigger buoys. The lampu suntik (waterproof lamp of LED sircuit in a used syringe plastic tube) is an innovation made on the totabito squid fishing gear. Adaptation and innovation in fisheries technology occurs part-by-part (partial) and requires proving success to gain wide acceptance. Keywords: adaptation; innovation; techology; fishing boat; fishing gear; traditional.

Abstract

Estimasi nilai parameter pertumbuhan dengan metode Von Bertalanffy Sparre et al (1999) diketahui nilai L∞ jantan 22,3763, L∞ betina 21,8673, K jantan 1,6348, K betina 1,1958 t0 jantan-0,2659, t0betina-0,1674. Terdiri dari tiga kelompok umur dengan panjang rata – rata (L1) jantan 21,9406, (L1) betina 22,1273, (L2) jantan 22,5122, (L2) betina 24,5673, (L3) jantan 28,2093, (L3) betina 34,0451. Persamaan Von Bertalanffy Sparre et al (1999) untuk ikan layang jantan yaitu Lt=22,3763 (1-e, ( ( , )). Ikan layang betina diperoleh persamaan Lt=21,8673(1-e, ( ( , )). The growth and age structure of Decapterus russelli landed at the Fish Landing Base in Gorontalo City are analyzed in this paper. The study was conducted in April - June 2015. Sampling was conducted once a week at random. Estimation of the value of growth parameters by the method of Von Bertalanffy Sparre et al (1999) found the value of male L∞ 22.3763, L∞ female 21.8673, male K 1.6348, female K 1.1958 t0 male -0.2659, female t0 -0,1674. Consists of three age groups with an average length (L1) of males 21.9406, (L1) females 22.1273, (L2) males 22.5122, (L2) females 24.5673, (L3) males 28.2093, (L3) female 34,0451. Von Bertalanffy Sparre et al (1999) equation for male Decapterus russelli is Lt = 22,3763 (1-e, ( ( , )). Female Decapterus russelli is obtained by the equation Lt = 21,8673(1-e, ( ( , )). Katakunci: ikan layang; Decapterus russelli; pertumbuhan; struktur umur. Keywords: Decapterus russelli; growth; age structure.

Abstract

Nike fish (Awaous melanocephalus) is a tiny-kind of fish harvested lunar-monthly in the estuary of BoneBolangoRiver in the City of Gorontalo. The fishing activity is showing steady increase recently as thecommodity finds its way to the international market. Fishermen are putting more efforts by escalating thecatching capacity of their gears. Meanwhile, mercury used by the artisanal and small-scale gold mining(ASGM) in the headwaters for amalgamation put another aspect to the A. melanocephalus  fishery whenit wasted into the river down to the estuary. This paper describes A. melanocephalus  fishery and thethreat of mercury contamination in the habitat and the fish itself. Field research was conducted in theestuary of Bone-Bolango River to observe the technology and methods of A. melanocephalus  fishing.Samples of water and fish were taken for mercury content examination with Atomic AbsorptionSpectrophotometer (AAS). Secondary data on production and distribution were obtained fromgovernment offices. The result showed that the water and A. melanocephalus  samples contain mercuryat levels exceeding the quality standards determined by government. Keywords: nike, mercury, food security, sustainable fishery

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of mangrove ecosystem degradation to the diversity of the catch in the affected coastal area of Pagimana District. Surveys were done from July 2019 to February 2020 to collect data with questionnaires. Data is analyzed by quantitative descriptive analysis and NASA Arset analysis (GIS). Results of the study show that: (1) extensive damage to the mangrove tend to fluctuate from year to year; (2) the extent of damage is small to cause significant impact on fish catch; (3) diversity of the catch is still relatively high and the state of the waters is still relatively good. Keywords: Mangrove; ecosystem; degradation; catch; diversity.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze environmental friendly fishing technoligies of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis Linneus) fishery. This research was conducted from April to Juni 2022 in Teluk Tomini Sea, Gorontalo Province. Data collected by surveys, observations, interviews and questionnaire. Environmental friendly aspects were analyzed with function of values provided by Monintja (2000) and Mallawa, et.al. (2019). Result shows that fishing technologies such as drag line, hand-line, purse-seine, and payang (mini purse-seine) are consecutively environmentally friendly.
