The objective of the study is to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in descriptive paragraph writing enhancement of secondary students who were taught through shared writing and those who were not. This study was conducted by using an experimental method. The sample of the study was 35 eighth grade students taken by using convenience sampling technique, 18 students belonged to experimental group and 17 students belonged to control group. The data were collected through pretest and posttest. In order to maintain validity, content validity was applied. Then, two raters were used to maintain reliability of the result. The experimental group was taught for twelve meetings by using Shared Writing. The result showed the students in the experimental getting the mean 14.67 with standard deviation 2.058 and control group getting the mean 12.00 with standard deviation 1.414 got a significant improvement in the posttest. There was a better significant improvement in descriptive paragraph writing in the experimental group who are taught by using Shared Writing if compared to the students in the control group.

Membimbing siswa untuk menguasai tata bahasa Inggris sesuai dengan yang mereka butuhkan merupakan tantangan untuk para guru. Terlebih lagi dalam situasi pandemi saat ini pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara daring. Banyak siswa/i masih mengalami kesulitan untuk memahami tata bahasa Inggris dasar. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan solusi media pembelajaran dan pelatihan kepada siswa/i untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tata bahasa Inggris dasar melalui website grammar. Kegiatan diawali dengan pengumpulan data, pengembangan website grammar dan pelatihan kepada para siswa/i. Teknik yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data yang dibutuhkan adalah dengan observasi dan survei analisa kebutuhan siswa/i dalam pembelajaran tata bahasa dasar dipadukan dengan diskusi dan tanya jawab. Kemudian, tim pelaksana mengembangkan website grammar yang dibuat khusus untuk para siswa/i SMA Muhammadiyah Gading Rejo. Lalu, dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan penggunaan website grammar kepada para siswa/i dalam bentuk ceramah, diskusi, dan tanya jawab. Berdasarkan hasil pengabdian masyarakat dapat disimpulkan para siswa/i lebih bersemangat, termotivasi, dan lebih menyukai pelajaran tata bahasa Inggris dasar dengan memanfaatkan website grammar karena mereka dapat mengakses materi menggunakan website grammar dimanapun dan kapanpun karena dapat diakses setiap saat dengan mudah Sehingga, proses pembelajaran dapat dilaksanakan lebih efektif dan efisien.

The use of English textbook does not only become a guide to the teachers when delivering the materials, but also presents necessary input through various explanations and activities. On the side of the learners, it also influences their attitudes and performance to the materials. This phenomenon challenges the writer to conduct research-based article concerning textbook evaluation to analyze the tasks and the distribution (simple to complex) of tasks presented in English textbook used in senior high school. The findings show that the English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X Semester 1 has interesting tasks which meet the objectives in curriculum 2013 and a good distribution of tasks across chapters and the whole book.

DEVELOPING BILINGUAL WEB-BASED SCHOOL INFORMATION SYSTEM AT SMA MUHAMMADIYAH GADING REJO. This study aimed at developing a bilingual web-based school information system as a medium to promote and deliver school information to students, parents and community. This system is equipped with school profile information, school facilities, school achievement and documentation that can provide an overview of the school. As a result, parents can select the best school for their children in accordance with their talents and interests. The research method used is a research and development through preliminary research, design and realization. The system is developed by using PHP language and MySQL. All components of the application, which include the user interface, processing scripts and database reside on the server. The website is http://smamuhammadiyahgadingrejo.com.

Pembelajaran aktif atau active learning merupakan salah satu strategi yang efektif untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris karena sifat pembelajaran bahasa itu sendiri membutuhkan interaksi satu sama lain. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan di MA Ma’arif 9 Kotagajah, Lampung Tengah bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan kepada para siswa di sekolah tersebut untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris secara aktif dan terlibat secara langsung dalam setiap aktifitas pembelajaran. Terdapat empat sesi dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini, yaitu: 1) penyampaian materi dan motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris, 2) tips and trik, serta best practice dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris, 3) penerapan active learning dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, dan 4) motivasi lanjut studi setelah menguasai Bahasa Inggris. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa para siswa yang pada awalnya memiliki motivasi yang rendah dan persepsi kurang baik terhadap pelajaran Bahasa Inggris mengalami peningkatan motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris setelah mengikuti kegiatan pendampingann pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan respon positif siswa selama mengikuti kegiatan dan hasil kuesioner terkait persepsi siswa terhadap kegiatan. Kegiatan serupa sebagai kelanjutan proses pembelajaran juga diharapkan guna tercapai tujuan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris secara menyeluruh. Motivation is something that encourages someone's willingness to do something to achieve what they want. In this study, the motivation in question is motivation in the field of language learning, especially learning English. This study aims to discuss what kinds of instrumental motivation are encouraging students in learning English. In conducting this study, the researcher used Descriptive Qualitative Method. The data collecting technique used in this study was to conduct a survey using Google Form 'Questions (questionnaire) with the number of questions in the Google Form are six questionnaires with four answer choices (Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree). The subjects of the research are coming from the students of English Education major in Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, especially students from PI18A class. The object of this research is students' perceptions about what kind of instrumental motivations that motivate them and how high the motivation they have when learning English. The results of the study indicate that the majority of participants have high instrumental motivation in learning English.

The use of media can encourage students to learn English more interestingly. Students are less motivated to learn English in the classroom by using textbooks, but they are more interested in learning English by watching English movies. The purpose of this study was to investigate students' perceptions of learning English through movies as well as students' obstacles to learning English through movies. A case study was used to conduct this research. It was carried out in one class of eleventh grade students of a private senior high school in Bandar Lampung. The information was gathered through questionnaire and interview. The data were analysed by data collection, data disassemble, data reassemble, data interpreting and conclusion. Based on the findings, students have positive attitudes toward learning English through movies. Students benefited from watching English movies in a variety of ways, including improving their pronunciation skills, learning the proper way to pronounce English words, and increasing their vocabulary mastery. Students can benefit from watching English movies to become acquainted with basic conversation and expressions that they can use to begin conversing in their daily lives. Meanwhile, students face some challenges when learning English through movies, such as feeling difficult when the speakers speak very quickly and feeling complicated when they find uncommon words in the movies.

Nowadays, online learning that is conducted by students requires them to work harder to carry out the learning process. It is undeniable that students at various levels of education have used online platforms to help the learning process, including vocational high school students. Therefore, it is interesting to investigate students' voices about the implementation of online classes in their schools. In this study, researchers focused on the use of Google Classroom among vocational school students attending online writing classes. This study uses a case study design by selecting eighty students in Bandar Lampung. To collect data, researchers distributed questionnaires through Google Forms and interviewed students. The results showed that students had positive and negative perceptions about the implementation of Google Classroom, namely: (1) There are issues with connecting Google Classroom to the internet; (2) Students do not comprehend the writing materials provided by Google Classroom; and (3) Students' laziness and lack of discipline in carrying out or collecting assignments (5) Students have difficulty expressing themselves and responding in the writing class via Google Classroom. Furthermore, several challenges were discovered for students in online writing classes via Google Classroom, including: (1) Student indiscipline due to being too bored to do online assignments; (2) students' lack of understanding of writing material in class; and (3) Students' lack of interaction with teachers in Google Classroom.

ABSTRAKKegiatan pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris Siswa melalui Game-Based Application Kahoot. Masih banyaknya siswa yang beranggapan bahwa Bahasa Inggris merupakan mata pelajaran yang sulit. Oleh karenanya, penggunaan aplikasi pembelajaran berbasis game dapat menjadi salah satu media untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris sehingga kemampuannya pun akan ikut meningkat. Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris ini nantinya akan dapat menjadi modal bagi siswa untuk melanjutkan ke Pendidikan tinggi dan masuk ke dunia kerja. Peserta pelatihan terdiri dari 36 siswa kelas XII SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Agung. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner dan observasi di lapangan, para peserta pelitahan menunjukkan antusiasmenya dalam proses pelatihan dan di akhir pelatihan, mereka mendapatkan pengetahuan baru dan pengalaman baru dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, serta peningkatan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris terutama dalam hal speaking dan reading.Kata Kunci: aplikasi pembelajaran; Bahasa Inggris; Kahoot; pelatihan ABSTRACTThis training activity aims to improve students' English skills through Kahoot Game-Based Application. There are still many students who think that English is a difficult subject. Therefore, the use of game-based learning applications can be one of the media to increase student motivation in learning English so that their abilities will also increase. This English skill will later become an asset for students to continue to higher education and enter the world of work. The training participants consisted of 36 students from class XII of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Agung. Based on the results of questionnaires and field observations, the participants showed enthusiasm in the training process and at the end of the training, they gained new knowledge and new experiences in learning English, as well as improved English skills, especially in speaking and reading.Keywords: English; game-based learning; Kahoot; training
