Abstract

The objective of this particular research and development is to produce the supplementary sociolinguistic materials to encourage the students’ critical thinking in hybrid class. Based on the preliminary study conducted by the researcher, it was discovered that most of the learner lacked motivation to understand the core book of sociolinguistic. Then, the lecturer should be creative in hybrid class. Because of this situation, the researcher design the hybrid learning process toward YouTube channel to solve the students’ problems. The researcher use Research and Development with some steps conducting need assessment, material development, validation product, implementation of product, and final product. The product designed with Productive Reading Technique which has the similarity activities with standard KKNI curriculum. The researchers are going to collect the relevant information with guided questionnaire for the students, the lecturer’ interviews, and the checklist form and the suggestion from the expert validations. The data result is described the strongest and the weakness of Sociolinguistic material development. The implication of this product was divided into three points namely, the students could achieve the reading skill with average 81%, the students’ motivation average 91% and around 83% of the student could give the responses base on the critical thinking.

Abstract

Abstrak: Productive  Reading Activity yang di desain  dalam Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Kolaborasi merupakan revolusi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan mengkombinasikan seluruh skill pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, yakni berbicara, mendengarkan, membaca dan menulis. Hal ini merupakan menjawab danmengarahkan tantangan dunia pendidikan, agar dapat menstimul proses berfikir kritis mahasiswa melalui serangkaian proses pembelajaran berdasarkan pada Higher Thinking Order Skill (HOTS). Temuan yang dihasilkan dari penelitian ini adalah  (1) Pengurangan  ketidak efektifan membaca buku saintifik yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran, dan mengubah pemikiran mahasiswa bahwa membaca adalah kegiatan produktif, bukan receptif, (2) Stimulus yang diarahkan pada mahasiswa tidak hanya berfikir kritis tetapi juga membuat mahasisiwa lebih aktif dan kreatif, (3) Productive Reading Activity tidak hanya dapat diaplikasikan oleh dosen dalam subjek pembelajaran sosiologi tetapi seluruh cabang linguistik lainnya.Abstract: Productive Reading Activity designed in Collaborative Class Action Research is a revolution in English learning by combining all English learning skills, namely speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This is to answer and direct the challenges of education, to be able to stimulate the critical thinking process of students through a series of learning processes based on higher thinking order skills (HOTS). The findings resulting from this study are (1) Reducing the ineffectiveness of reading scientific books carried out by students in the learning process, and changing students' thinking that reading is a productive activity, not receptive, (2) Stimulus directed at students not only critical thinking but also making students more active and creative, (3) Productive Reading Activity can not only be applied by lecturers in sociology learning subjects but all other linguistic branches.

Abstract

Morphosyntax is nice material in the learning process with various activities. This study was described as Collaborative Action Research (CCAR), it proposed brain mapping based on freedom of learning as the strategy for English students to solve the students’ problems in understanding reading Morphosyntax material such as (1) lack of vocabulary mastery, (2) unrich reading subskill, (3) lack of critical reading, (4) afraid to share ideas based on what their read and background knowledge. Brain mapping toward pre-implementing, implementing, and result implementing of brain mapping could be reaching the target of the goal reading skill in morphosyntax materials with an average score of 81. Studying English with freedom of learning has a positive effect on students. Most of the students could understand what they read in morphosyntax material, so they could share their ideas, and students’ participation in the classroom was highly positive.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui produk pengembangan media comic strips sebagai media pembelajaran writing berbasis kearifan lokal untuk siswa sekolah menengah pertama.Strip komik (Comic Strips) merupaka media pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk berbagai macam skill, salah satunya adalah Writing. Strip Komik berbahasa inggris banyak sekali dibuat oleh para native atau orang-orang asli pengguna Bahasa Inggris sehingga bahasa yang digunakan cenderung kompleks dan sulit dipahami oleh Siswa yang masih dalam proses belajar. Strip komik yang dalam pembelajaran Writing digunakan untuk menstimulasi Siswa agar dapat mempelajari grammar (tata bahasa), mechanics (cara penulisan), content (pengembangan ide/ isi), organization (urutan/ kronologi ide), dan vocabulary (penggunaan kata yang efektif).Dalam penelitian pengembangan ini, peneliti mencoba memenuhi kekurangan-kekurangan yang belum dapat dipenuhi oleh media strip komik yang sudah ada dengan menggunakan metode penelitian Research and Development (R n D). Ada sepuluh langkah yang dilakukan dalam penelitian RnD ini berdasarkan pada teori Borg dan Gall (1989: 783-795). Pada tahap penelitian pendahuluan dan pengumpulan informasi peneliti melakukan observasi dan dan wawancara terhaap guru dan siswa untu mengungkap kebutuhan guru dan siswa dalam kegiatan writing. Selain itu peneliti juga melakukan kajian terhadap hasil penelitian terdahulu yang pernah dilakukan terkait dengan penggunaan comic strips sebagai media pembelajaran writing. Dari hasil observasi dan wawancara maka didapat sebuah perencanaan untuk mengembangkan comic strips berbasis kearifan lokal sebagao media pembelajaran writing untuk siswa sekolah menengah pertama. Dalam tahap pengembangan, peneliti membuat konsep comic strips yang kemudian diilustrasikan ke dalam panel-panel yag berisi tokoh dan dialog. Setelah draft selesai maka diakukan penilaian atau validasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media. Adapun hasil uji kelas kecil menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai pre-test dan post-test yang ditujukkan dari nilai signifikan 0.00< 0.05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan comic strips bebasis kearifan local ini efektif untuk pembelajaran writing di sekolah menengah pertama.

Abstract

Experimental research was conduct toward this study. The researcher doing this research as the continue research from last study, to know the effectiveness of using Saintific Method for others subject. There are any differences between student’s reading comprehension skill before and after being taught by using Saintific Method in the eleventh grade of Math and CIVICs Students. So, the Saintific Method is effective to teaching student’s reading comprehension. Based on the observation in the experimental class for non English- Students was good result. It shows the students get score average in pre-test 66,66 and post-test was 80,55.
