Abstract

Traditions that exist in society are one of the things that will continue to exist, so their existence must be preserved by community members. One of the typical traditions possessed by Indonesian citizens is the tradition of mutual cooperation. One of the traditions of mutual cooperation in rural communities that still exists today is the sinoman tradition. The sinoman tradition in Ngampel Village has experienced a decline in participation from the village's youth. The decline in participation was due to the many services offered to help during the celebration process. This research uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Research data was obtained from primary data originating from observations and interviews. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from literature study. The results of the research show that people's lives are starting to change, making people have a choice in participating in activities at weddings. Changes in roles in youth participation in the Sinoman tradition are caused by the burdens and responsibilities that these youth have. Apart from that, it is also caused by changes in thinking patterns and technological advances which make many things more practical and efficient.

Abstract

The unfocused cultivation of character values in the learning process is a problem in the field of education that can result in a lack of affective and pyschomotor aspects for students. Moreover, the lack of opportunities for the cultivation of character values is currently also affected to students with special needs, one of which is blind in SLB A YKAB Surakarta. Character problems are shown in the limited social skills of blind students who seem to still be independent (individualist) when interacting with others in SLB. Therefore, a good solution step is needed to help blind students fix the problem and grow their social skills through the process of instilling the character values of gotong royong and pangerten. This study aims to examine the extent to which blind students apply the cultivation of the character values of gotong royong and pangerten utilizing the stages of Bandura's social learning theory in the learning activities of SLB A YKAB Surakarta. The method used is qualitative with phenomenological approach. The research data sources were obtained from 6 informants, namely 2 teachers, 2 blind students, and 2 parents of students as research subjects. The results showed that blind students have implemented the process of instilling character values according to the stages of social learning. This is evidenced by the results of the actualization of students who have been able to bring up the attitude of togetherness as a reflection of the orientation of gotong royong and pangerten.

Abstract

The increasing amount of waste generation in Surakarta City demands an effective waste management strategy based on community participation. The Central Waste Bank of Surakarta (BSI) serves as a solution to reduce the volume of waste entering the Final Disposal Site (TPA) while fostering environmental awareness within the community. This study aims to analyze the strategies implemented by Bank Sampah Induk Surakarta in mobilizing community participation in waste management and its relation to the concept of the New Social Movement. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The use of a descriptive method aims to provide a clear and in-depth depiction of the strategic processes applied by BSI in encouraging community participation in waste management. The results of the study indicate that the strategies implemented by BSI include education and outreach on waste separation, the provision of adequate facilities, ease of operational access, and community involvement in involvement in sustainable programs. These strategies align with the characteristics of the New Social Movement, which emphasize collective participation, environmental sustainability, and community-based social change. The strategies implemented by BSI have resulted in increased public awareness and engagement in waste management. This study contributes to the development of more effective and sustainable community-based waste management policies and serves as a reference for waste bank programs in other regions.
