Abstract

Tense is a part of English grammar that becomes something difficult to understand by students. Therefore, it needs interesting and creative learning media to face that problem. This research purposes to evaluate and analyze the implementation of Kahoot as a digital learning media in improving students’ understanding about tenses in higher education. There were 15 students in Civic Department of Education Faculty in Universitas Tompotika Luwuk as the sample of this research. Mix method in concurrent embedded strategy design was chosen as methodology of research. Quantitative data was collected through test, while qualitative data was collected by observation and interview. Hypothesis testing and descriptive analysis was conducted as analyzing technique. The quantitative result found that there was the improvement of students’ study result about tenses from pretest to posttest. The value of t-count (9,5176) which is greater than the value of t-table (2,048) is the proof. Moreover, quantitative result was supported by qualitative analysis result. It was proved by students’ achievement towards understanding indicators, namely translation, interpretation, and extrapolation. This research expected becomes contribution for the teachers and learners for implemented Kahoot as an interesting and creative learning media.

Abstract

This research aimed at describing the topics of compliment, the strategies in responding compliment and the influence of intimacy in complimenting among Saluanese in Nambo sub district. This research was conducted in Nambo sub district, Banggai regency. The study was descriptive research by using qualitative approach. Methods used in collecting data were an observation, an interview, and field notes. There were 31 expressions of compliments and compliment respenses used by Saluanese in Nambo sub district. The result of this research indicates that the most topics used by Saluanese in complimenting were possession about 39%, then appearance 32%, performance 26% and personality 3%. It indicates that Saluanese tends to give compliment in possessive aspect such as children, assets, luxury and position or profession. The most strategy used by Saluanese was agreement about 71%, then non-agreement 26% and other interpretation 3%. It can be concluded that Salauanese likes to get compliment and intimacy contributes in responding compliment

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan topik pujian, strategi dalam menanggapi pujian dan pengaruh pujian dan respon pujian terhadap keharmonisan rumah tangga kader Wahdah Islamiyah Banggai. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif Metode pengumpulan data melalui angket dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa topik yang paling banyak digunakan dalam memuji adalah keterampilan atau kemampuan, kemudian penampilan, kepribadian dan kepemilkan. Adapun strategi yang banyak digunakan dalam merespon pujian adalah menerima pujian, kemudian menolak pujian, mengomentari pujian, diam, membalas pujian, menjelaskan pujian, mengalihkan pujian, merendahkan diri, mengajukan pertanyaan dan meningkatkan pujian. Pujian dan respon pujian berpengaruh terhadap keharmonisan rumah tangga kader Wahdah Islamiyah Banggai.

Abstract

This research aimed at describing the language function especially the directive function used in drama “Death of a Salesman” which focused on act one. This was a descriptive research by using qualitative approach. Method used in this research was library research. The sample of this research was 47 utterances taken from nine scenes (scene 1-9. The writer collected data by using note taking technique. In analyzing data, the writer used descriptive method with following steps : reading the drama, choosing the sentences or utterances which had directive function in it and marked it, classifing the different kinds of directive function, identifying or analyzing the micro function of utterances and concluding the intention or message of drama. The result of this research indicates that there are three kinds of directive function; they are orders, requests, and pleas. Utterances which function as requests then can be subdivided into six groups; they are requests for action, requests for sympathy, requests for information, requests for confirmation, requests for clarification and requests for help. In the chosen utterances there are two utterances (4,3%) which function as order, 35 utterance (74,4%) which function as request and ten utterance (21,3%) which function as plea. The situation of speakers or hearer and the way they utter the utterances can affect the interpretation of utterances.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan teknik Scaffolding dalam meningkatkan minat belajar Al-Qur’an anak usia dini. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PAUD Hafidz Hafidzah MHQ Banggai Kepulauan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti melakukan observasi, wawancara dan catatan lapangan. Adapun prosedur penelitian ini adalah: mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara dan observasi, mengidentifikasi data, menganalisis data dan menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Penerapan teknik Scaffolding dapat meningkatkan minat belajar Al-Qur’an pada anak usia dini. Adapun tahapan Scaffolding yang dilakukan guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar adalah (1) upaya pencegahan dengan cara menjelaskan kepada anak cara mengucapkan huruf, memberikan contoh kata yang memiliki huruf awal dari huruf hijaiyah yang dikenalkan dan menirukan bunyi huruf tersebut (2) upaya pengembangan dilakukan dengan menyediakan alat bantu berupa papan tulis, spidol dan kartu huruf, dan (3) upaya penyembuhan dilakukan dengan memberikan motivasi, semangat dan kesempatan kepada anak dalam mengenal huruf hijaiyah.

Abstract

Pulo Dua merupakan salah satu wisata unggulan di Kabupaten Banggai provinsi Sulawesi Tengah.  Pemerintah Daerah telah melakukan upaya strategis untuk pengembangan dan keberlanjutan Pulo Dua sebagai destinasi wisata kelas dunia. Salah satunya adalah dengan di adakannya Festival Pulo Dua pada Tahun 2019. Kegiatan ini sukses menarik minat wisatawan mancanegara, yang terlihat dari peningkatan jumlah wisatawan asing yang datang berkunjung ke Pulo dua. Namun, tantangan baru muncul, yakni keterbatasan kemampuan masyarakat dalam memperkenalkan potensi yang dimiliki Pulo dua Kepada wisatawan asing secara efektif. Hal ini dikarenakan kompetensi masyarakat khususnya pemuda dalam memahami dan menggunakan bahasa inggris masih sangat minim. Olehnya itu pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatan kompetensi bahasa inggris pemuda melalui pelatihan Tour Guide untuk pariwisata berkelanjutan di Pulo Dua. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode Asset-Based Community Development. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukan peningkatan kompetensi pemuda dalam memahami dan menggunakan bahasa inggris terkait Tour Guide, yang berdampak pada kepuasan wisatawan asing yang mendapatkan informasi yang informatif terkait destinasi wisata Pulo Dua. Dampak dari program pengabdian ini, tidak hanya meningkatkan kompetensi bahasa inggris pemuda tentang tour guide, tetapi juga memperkuat partisipasi pemuda dalam pengelolaan destinasi wisata Pulo Dua secara berkelanjutan
