Abstract

This article aims to explain on Arne Naess’ notion of relation between religion and nature. For Naess, relation between religion and nature has double face. On the one hand, religion is a good source for human being in understanding nature and himself. Religion teaches man how to creates a mutual relation with nature. On the other hand, religion is also the source of ecological crisis since through biblical interpretation which is anthropological oriented gives man knowledge and power to control even exploits nature wantonly. Therefore, to stop ecological crisis we need to shift our anthropological interpretation to an ecological interpretation. Using descriptive and analysis method, this study hopes to contribute on understanding of Naess’ concept on relation between religion and nature.

Abstract

This articleaims to respond Al Gore’s critics onArne Naess’ concept of deep ecology. ForAl Gore, deep ecology of ArneNaesshas reduced the position and the role of human being in nature. The reason is becauseNaess’s deep ecologyis assumed to see human being as the source of destruction on earth and alien which is not part of nature; it grasps man as creature without ability to think and to have free will; and it has no solution for current ecological crisis. Naess, in constrast, comprehends human beings as good in himself, part of nature, and a unique creature. Because of this uniqueness, human being has responsibility to protect and to preserve nature. Thus, although they have differences, both deep ecology of Naess and the ecology of Al Gore havemany similarities. These similarities can be used ascontribution to any effort to save the earth today.Key words: ekologi dalam, menusia, alam, antroposentrisme, ekosentrisme

Abstract

This article intends to explain on Francis Fukuyama’s idea of the politics of identity Fukuyama suggests that identity politics can threaten the stability of liberal democracy by dividing society based on group identities such as ethnicity, race, religion, or gender. In explaining the phenomenon of identity politics, Fukuyama highlights the demand for recognition based on the concept of thymos, a psychological aspect of human beings seeking acknowledgment. According to him, individuals and groups have a fundamental need for their dignity and identity to be recognized. When these demands are unmet, feelings of dissatisfaction and injustice can arise, leading to social and political conflict. He emphasizes the importance of moral values such as freedom, justice, and respect for individual rights. He contends that liberal democracy must be supported by a strong moral foundation to endure and thrive amidst modern challenges. Francis Fukuyama's thoughts provide valuable insights into how to sustain and strengthen liberal democracy in the contemporary era. By understanding the impact of identity politics and the demand for recognition, as well as reaffirming a commitment to fundamental moral values, societies can maintain stability and justice within the liberal democratic system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the relationship between utilitarian ethics and the use of social media by primary school children. This paper critically examines the potential positive and negative effects of social media use for primary school children from the perspective of utilitarian ethics. The hermeneutic method is a philosophical method that examines, explores and seeks meaning for a particular concept. The researcher tries to reflect and interpret the study of utilitarian ethics while providing a sharp analysis of the issue in the context of social media use for primary school children. The results of the analysis show that utilitarian ethics can influence the behaviour and use of social media for primary school students. The implementation of utilitarian ethics has both positive and negative effects on children's social media behaviour. The value of utilitarian ethics can develop children's digital moral behaviour such as altruistic attitudes, positive cooperation, productive and responsible actions, social awareness, being critical of social issues, and engaging in online learning communities using social media. The results of this analysis are expected to provide philosophical contributions for students to use social media more responsibly, wisely and in accordance with universal moral values.
