Abstract

ABTRACTThe purpose of this study was to determine the implications of political messages on social media on the electability of presidential candidates in the 2019 elections among millennial voters in Kendari City. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The method used in this research is interviews and documentation. The results of this study explain that Based on the observations of researchers on social media Facebook, political messages related to the 2019 presidential election are classified into three parts, namely first, those related to the vision, mission and work programs of the presidential candidate pairs, secondly those related to religious, racial and class sentiments and the third is messages related to the personal life of the presidential candidate pair, whether it is related to family, friends, and so on. The presidential candidate pair number 2 and their supporters are the pairs who are most aggressive in making posts on social media so that the presidential candidate pair number 2 tends to be more popular on social media compared to the presidential candidate pair number 1. Political messages on social media as a medium to introduce and increase the popularity of candidates but has no implications for the electability of millennial voters in Kendari City.Keywords: Political Communication, Social Media, Millennial Voters, Presidential Candidates, 2019 Election

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas bagaimana persepsi Mahasiswa Fakultas Ushuluddin, Adab dan Dakwah IAIN Kendari terhadap konten dakwah pada siaran Radio Fajar 107.7 FM, yang merupakan radio komunitas pada program studi Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam IAIN Kendari. Segmen pendengar dari radio ini adalah 90% adalah mahasiswa IAIN Kendari dan masyarakat yang berada diseputaran kampus IAIN Kendari. 90%  dari Konten siaran pada Radio Fajar  bernuansa Islami dan mengusung pesan-pesan dakwah dalam setiap acaranya. Selebihnya diisi dengan konten informasi seputar kampus dan music yang sedang popular di kalangan mahasiswa dan pendengar.  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan Teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa persepsi mahasiswa terhadap konten dakwah Radio Fajar adalah media audio tersebut  menyalurkan berbagai pengetahuan agama, sehingga dapat mengarahkan pendengar kepada jalan kebaikan. Agar siaran di Radio Fajar bisa diterima pendengar dengan baik khususnya siaran dakwah maka perlu suatu pembaharuan mengenai konten dakwah yang tepat sehingga Civitas Akademika IAIN Kendari tidak merasa bosan dengan siarannya. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan cara mengatur menu siaran acara yang bersifat edukatif, informatif, persuasif, komunikatif, stimulatif serta pengaturan peralatan siaran yang lebih baik. Kata Kunci: Radio Fajar, IAIN Kendari, Dakwah.

Abstract

The concept of terrorism according to Youval Noah Harari in his book 21 Lessons says that to reduce acts of terrorism is to not commit hysteria in the mass media. Therefore, the author's question appears to further examine whether there is a mutually beneficial relationship between terrorism and the mass media. How should the mass media, government, and society behave in the face of an act of terrorism? This article uses the library study method. Based on the results of the study found that there is indeed a symbiosis between terrorism and mass media. Acts of terrorism in the mass media have news value and certainly affect the ratings of programs and media. However, it is explained that the media must still hold the principle of social responsibility that provides the best information for the audience or society. On the other hand, the government should not panic in responding to acts of terrorism. The government must establish a strategy so that all terrorism-related information can be properly controlled and not cause fear in the community.

Abstract

Pers function, beside as an information between the public and the government, also could be a transfer of social control and social values and culture in society too. The press can also be a media propaganda that conveys the teachings of Islam and Islamic values to people ofIndonesian that dominant of in Muslim. But, in the era of media convergence at this time, press Islam in Indonesia is not able to develop properly. It is caused by a lack of capital from the manager of the press Islam, the lack of professional personal are educated to understand thecombination of business activities, editorial, printing techniques and a variety of advanced devices and the lack of interest in reading among Muslims especially the themes of Islam. Thusresulting in less interesting views of Islam with media content that impressed "heavy" to read.Indutrialisasi of mass media today demanded the Islamic press is not the only idealism, but alsodevelop media businesses to finance the smooth operation of the press, in addition to the needfor professionalism of workers in managing the Islamic press media. Release Islam also needs tounderstand the market taste and class audience of readers who want a rational religiousofferings, which can be digested by common sense and is relevant to the level of their lives. Inaddition to media contents, press Islam also should pay attention to their physical appearancethat appeal to readers. With so releases Islam can survive amid tough competition in the era ofmedia convergence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze literacy media among state university students in Kendari regarding the issue of SARA in social media and to provide solutions to enhance the student’s media literacy skills. This study is design in descriptive qualitative approach. Required data for this study were collected through snowball sampling. Data analysis was carried out using Individual Competence Framework. This study reveals that the level of media literacy skills of the students was classified as basic. In other words, the students had basic skills to utilize the media and had limited media usage. The users understood the basic functions, reveal the basic codes and use them for final objectives. The students’ ability to critically analyze the received information was limited. As a result, the ability to communicate through the media was also limited. The solutions to improving media literacy skills of state university students in Kendari can be through incorporating knowledge regarding media literacy in the curriculum of study programs, conducting research related to media literacy among lecturers and students, holding trainings and workshops, providing media literacy knowledge through leader opinions such as religious leaders and community leaders, and developing religious studies on campus.

Abstract

Information and communication technology development allows every individual to obtain and produce information quickly. This development brings us to the post-truth era, where truth is relative. Generation Z is among the most intense social media user groups. Based on this, this research wants to look at online media literacy among Gen Z in Baruga District, Kendari City, in the post-truth era. This research method is descriptive qualitative by analyzing the individual competence framework, namely data analysis through data analysis techniques, to determine online media literacy skills from three levels: basic, medium, and advanced. The study results show that the online media literacy level of gen z Kendari City in responding to hoax news on social media is still at a basic level. The technical skill ability of Gen Z based on indicators of the individual competence framework is at a medium level. Critical understanding ability is still at the basic stage. Meanwhile, social competence, which consists of Communicative abilities, is still at a basic level. Gen z media literacy skills in Kendari City still need to be improved. Efforts that can be made to increase gen z online media literacy are conducting training related to online media literacy for gen z, both carried out by the local government and support from religious leaders.
