Abstract

One of the goals of Indonesia's rice improvement program is to develop high-yielding varieties with long and slender rice grains. This study aimed to estimate the genetic parameters affecting gene action, amount of gene action, number of gene control, magnitude of genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, and correlations between yield components and yield of Inpari 31 x Basmati Delta 9 in the F2 generation. The experiment was carried out at an experimental farm at the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto, Central Java, Indonesia. The genetic material used was seed from an F2 population crossed between Inpari 31 and Basmati Delta 9 with the two parental genotypes. Estimates of skewness, kurtosis, genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlations between traits and path analysis were calculated for yield and yield component traits. Results show that additive and complementary epistatic action control yield-related and yield traits. Yield-related trait components and yield are controlled by a monogenic or polygenic genes, depending on the observed trait. Wide genetic variability, high broad sense heritability and high genetic advance were found in the number of productive tillers per hill and grain weight per panicle.  These traits show a significant positive correlation and have a direct effect on the yield; therefore, they can be used as traits in the selection to produce high-yielding rice, with long rice sizes and slender shapes.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is a leading sector in developing national development strategies. plantation subsector has the highest contribution to GDP, which is 3.46%. The GDP of the plantation subsector was obtained from superior commodities, one of which was coffee. In recent years, the stretch of coffee agribusiness in Brebes Regency has begun to appear and has increased, but the impact of increasing coffee farmers' income is still very small. Because farmers' knowledge about how to maintain coffee plants is still very low. The method of collecting data in this study is through literature studies, interviews and observations. The results of this study are (1) Salem District has the highest production yield and the most extensive land compared to 3 other Sirampog Subdistricts which have the most adequate post-harvest processing equipment. (2) The quality of human resources for coffee farmers in Brebes Regency still lacks limited knowledge. (3) Based on the value chain analysis of determinants of downstream products the coffee process is roasting and grinding. (4) Based on an analysis of internal factors shows that coffee business people in Brebes have a very strong internal position. Based on the results of the analysis of external factors showing that the Brebes Regency business actor is able to respond well to the opportunities and threats that exist and based on IE Matrix analysis, the general strategy is to develop aggressively and constructively (5) Based on the SWOT analysis, several proposed strategies are increased intensity of promotion and marketing by involving young people of productive age in each region, (2) stalls / coffee shops or cafes are established in each place (3) Empowering village youth (4) Procurement of necessary equipment, (5) Making / establishing a joint business institution (6) establishing a coffee house

Abstract

Abstract

Gunung Jaya Village, Salem District, there is a Joint Business Group (KUB) "Lulumpang". Previously, the Lulumpang KUB in Gunung Jaya Village, Salem Subdistrict, Brebes Regency carried out the process of peeling cherry coffee manually using mortar and pestle. This process is time-consuming and labor-intensive, resulting in many broken beans. In addition, stripping the dry skin is also still with lumpang-alu, of course this is very time consuming and hampers the production process. "Lulumpang" also does not have an adequate drying room and drying equipment, so if there is an abundance of harvest, they are overwhelmed. Based on some of the problems faced by KUB Lulumpang as a partner, the pengabdi will handle through 3 stages of service that will be carried out in 3 years, namely year 1 focusing on cultivation and post-harvest technology. In this first year, the service program has been carried out in the form of handling post-harvest technology through training and grants of wet skin peeling tools, namely pulper. In the 2nd year, this service focuses on increasing the production and quality of raosted beans. After the General Soedirman University service team conducted counseling and workshops, the roasted bean production capacity increased 5X and group members increasingly understood the importance of quality control and procedures for saving failed products.
