Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of self-regulated learning training which is carried out in short duration (90 minutes). This quasi-experimental study used one-group pretest-posttest design that inlvolve seventh grade middle school students as participants. Students’ self-regulated learning was measured at the baseline (pre-test), after the intervention (post-test), and 3 months after the intervention (follow-up). Data analysis with one-way repeated measures ANOVA showed significant differences between three SRL time measurement, F (2, 16) = 8.23, p = 0.003, ω² = 0.21. SRL score at post-test (M = 3.93, SD = 0.31) higher than at pre-test (M = 3.46, SD = 0.42). Post hoc analysis with Bonferroni correction indicated that SRL increased following the intervention (posttest) with large effect size (d = -1.408, p = 0.009). SRL declined 3 months after posttest (d = 0.752, p = 0.162), yet insignificant. This brief SRL training can increase self-regulated learning with some points need to be discussed further.

Abstract

As students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), it is important to possess altruistic behavior. Those who choose to study in FKIP are individuals who aspire to become teachers. One of the main reasons people choose the teaching profession is their desire to help others, which reflects altruistic behavior. According to Stinnett (1968), the teaching profession is characterized as a vocation motivated by the need to help others rather than by financial gain. One of the factors influencing altruistic behavior is internal locus of control. This study aims to determine the relationship between internal locus of control and altruistic behavior among students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population consisted of 6,706 students, with a sample of 332 students selected using the simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the Internal Locus of Control Scale and the Altruistic Behavior Scale. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation test. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between internal locus of control and altruistic behavior among FKIP students at Syiah Kuala University, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of r = 0.830 and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the higher the internal locus of control, the higher the level of altruistic behavior, and conversely, the lower the internal locus of control, the lower the altruistic behavior.

Abstract

Although Aceh had issued a number of regulations concerning sexual violence against children, the trend of sexual abuse in Aceh has tended to increase annually. This article investigated the Aceh government's response to child sexual abuse cases through the Banda Aceh Municipal UPTD PPA as instructed by Qanun No. 9/2019. This article relied on qualitative research, using case studies and in-depth interviews about the Aceh sexual violence victims' treatment from their advocates at the UPTD PPA office in Banda Aceh. The interviews were intended to analyse the implementation of Qanun No. 9/2019 on the Implementation of Response to Violence against Women and Children in Aceh.  This study concluded that the implementation of Aceh Qanun number 9 of 2019 concerning the organizing and addressing violence against children had not been well carried out and had not yet been efficient. It was evidence that although Aceh had passed a number of regulations on the prevention of sexual violence against children, including Qanun Aceh number 9 of 2019, the local government had not yet issued technical guidelines for implementation; therefore, relevant agencies currently not working collaboratively in dealing with children's sexual abuse cases in Aceh and remained working in a sectoral manner. In addition, the community and parents were less motivated to report cases of sexual abuse that occurred in their environment because it was seen as a disgrace. In addition, child victims often experience mental decline, thereby making it difficult to obtain information about what had happened to them.

Abstract

Environmental issues are increasingly urgent, highlighting the need for pro-environmental behavior, especially among students. This study aims to examine the role of religion and differences in pro-environmental behavior between Islamic boarding school students and public school students. A quantitative approach with comparative techniques was used. The measuring instrument was the Pro-Environmental Behavior Scale by Larson et al. (2015). The sample consisted of 221 students selected from a population of 643 using probability sampling with a cluster sampling technique. The results showed a significant difference in pro-environmental behavior (t = 6.689, p = 0.000), with Islamic boarding school students scoring higher (Mean = 112.5; SD = 13.6) than public school students (Mean = 101.6; SD = 9.7). These findings suggest that the religious-based educational environment contributes to shaping students’ environmental awareness. A clean and religious educational setting plays an important role in fostering greater concern for the environment among students.
