Abstract

Loneliness is a feeling that arises due to a lack of interpersonal relationships and is considered unsatisfactory. One way to divert loneliness is to use a cell phone. Excessive use of cell phones can cause Nomophobia. This study aimed to determine the relationship between loneliness and Nomophobia in migrant students in Banda Aceh. This study uses a quantitative approach with the product-moment correlation method. This research uses the loneliness scale, developed based on aspects of loneliness identified by Peplau and Perlman (1981), with a reliability coefficient of 0.962. Additionally, it employs the nomophobia scale, based on aspects of Nomophobia identified by Yildirim and Coreia (2014), which has a reliability coefficient of 0.923. This study's population was migrant students active at the Ar-Raniry State Islamic University and Syiah Kuala University. The sampling technique used in this research is quota sampling with a total sample of 200 respondents. The study found a correlation coefficient of r = 0.209 with p = 0.002, indicating a significant positive relationship between loneliness and Nomophobia among migrant students in Banda Aceh. This means that the higher the loneliness, the higher the Nomophobia experienced by migrant students in Banda Aceh. Vice versa, the lower the loneliness, the lower the Nomophobia experienced by migrant students in Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Background: Hospital-acquired nosocomial infections, which cause more than 100,000 patient deaths each year, are often associated with poor nurse compliance with prevention guidelines, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Compliance with PPE effectively reduces the risk of infection, but several studies have shown low levels of nurse compliance, associated with unfavorable work environments, high workloads, and lack of knowledge and competence. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, compliance with PPE has become increasingly important in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Purpose: To determine the factors related to the level of nurse compliance in using PPE. Methods: This study uses a literature study method to explore factors related to the level of nurses' compliance in using PPE. Data were taken from articles published from January 2023 to January 2024 through the Pubmed National Library of Medicine database. Article searches were limited by the criteria of articles having full text, in English, and keywords used in the search including compliance, nurses, personal protective equipment (PPE), and nosocomial infections. Results: Research shows that nurses' knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, education, training, and motivation play a significant role in increasing awareness of PPE use. In addition, adequate provision of PPE, supporting facilities, safety culture, hospital organizational commitment, and government regulations also determine compliance. Conclusion: Although the availability of PPE facilities is a major contribution to prevention, nurse preparedness is needed to reduce disease transmission and ensure that the health care system continues to function during times of crisis, especially during the spread of infectious diseases.

Abstract

Environmental issues are increasingly urgent, highlighting the need for pro-environmental behavior, especially among students. This study aims to examine the role of religion and differences in pro-environmental behavior between Islamic boarding school students and public school students. A quantitative approach with comparative techniques was used. The measuring instrument was the Pro-Environmental Behavior Scale by Larson et al. (2015). The sample consisted of 221 students selected from a population of 643 using probability sampling with a cluster sampling technique. The results showed a significant difference in pro-environmental behavior (t = 6.689, p = 0.000), with Islamic boarding school students scoring higher (Mean = 112.5; SD = 13.6) than public school students (Mean = 101.6; SD = 9.7). These findings suggest that the religious-based educational environment contributes to shaping students’ environmental awareness. A clean and religious educational setting plays an important role in fostering greater concern for the environment among students.
