Abstract

The paper focuses on the policy analysis influencing the internationalization of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in Indonesia. Three approaches of internationalization are explored in this study: the market knowledge approach, the network approach and the international entrepreneurship approach. This article attempts to figure out internationalization as a process starting from the creating of favorable preconditions to the strengthening stage based on the interrelationship among those approaches. The purpose of this article tries to combine the important dimensions proposed by each approach towards an integrative policy approach based on the concept of competitiveness and connectivity. The conceptual model of integrated policy in this study contributes to resolve inefficiency issue as the main gap in the existing strategic policy on SME internationalization in Indonesia; enhance integrative policy analysis literature and propose a more integrated strategic policy for promoting internationalization.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has reshaped global trade and commerce, particularly in the European Union (EU), where the Digital Single Market (DSM) strategy seeks to create an integrated online economy across member states. This research examines the intersection of the DSM and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), particularly focusing on copyright protection in the digital space. The EU’s efforts to eliminate cross-border barriers, enhance e-commerce, and foster innovation have profound implications for copyright law, highlighting both opportunities and challenges for creators and businesses. Through the introduction of the EU Copyright Directive (Directive 2019/790), the EU aims to modernize copyright rules, offering greater legal certainty and protection for digital content creators. However, the digital economy also brings challenges such as geo-blocking, territorial licensing, and issues related to piracy, which hinder seamless access to digital content across borders. This study explores the benefits and obstacles of the DSM strategy in relation to IPR, providing insights into the complexities of balancing copyright protection with the need for an open and integrated digital market.

Abstract

As trade in fish between Indonesia and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) States intensifies under the Indonesia-EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA), it becomes paramount to harmonize international trade with sustainable fisheries management. This study delves into this crucial nexus, employing descriptive and analytical legal research methodologies. It scrutinizes the sustainable development provisions embedded within the IE-CEPA, examining how these trade regulations align with and support sustainable fisheries management principles. The study further investigates the compliance of Indonesia with these rules, focusing on the protection of marine fishery resources, the suppression of Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, and the promotion of sustainable fishing practices that safeguard fish stocks and marine ecosystems. Ultimately, this research underscores the potential for a positive synergy between trade liberalization and environmental stewardship, ensuring the long-term viability of fishery resources while fostering economic growth for both Indonesia and EFTA States.
