Abstract

Dental health problems in Indonesia are still a matter that still needs serious attention because the prevalence of caries reaches 60-80% of the population, and ranks 6th as the most common disease. Dental and oral health services, especially aimed at groups prone to dental health problems, namely pre-school children and elementary school children. The purpose of the activity was to improve the degree of dental and oral health of visitors to posyandu in Marga sub-district. This community service was carried out on Posyandu paramedic assistance in Kukuh village, Kec. Marga, Kab. Tabanan. Implementation of activities in the form of training with lecture methods, question and answer and simulation. The targets were 35 Posyandu paramedic assistance. The results of the training were obtained by the level of knowledge of paramedic assistance about oral and dental health as much as 62.9%, all paramedic assistance (100%) were skilled in brushing their teeth in the right way and early detection of cavities.Keywords: training, paramedic assistance, oral and dental health

Abstract

Good oral and dental health is one of the supporting factors for achieving optimal overall health. Efforts to maintain oral and dental health should begin early, during elementary school age. This study aimed to analyze the effect of health education on students' knowledge of oral and dental health maintenance by comparing their knowledge before and after the educational intervention among second- and third-grade students at SD N 1 Takmung in 2025. The study employed descriptive methods to determine the mean and percentage, and analytical methods to examine the effect of the educational intervention on students' knowledge. A pre-test and post-test design was used with a total population of 45 respondents. The results showed that before the educational intervention, the highest frequency of knowledge level was in the fair category, with 27 students (60.00%), while the lowest frequency was in the poor category, with six students (13.33%). After the educational intervention, all respondents (45 students, 100%) were classified in the very good category. The average knowledge score before the intervention was 68.67, categorized as fair, while after the intervention it increased to 92.22, categorized as good. The study concluded that the frequency of knowledge levels improved from predominantly fair to all respondents being in the good category, and the average knowledge score increased from the fair category to the good category. The results of the statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a Z value of −5.78 with p < 0.00, indicating a statistically significant difference between the knowledge scores before and after the educational intervention.

Abstract

Masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada remaja masih menjadi salah satu permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat yang perlu mendapat perhatian melalui upaya promotif dan preventif. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan Kader Posyandu Remaja dalam pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan pengendalian indeks plak pada remaja dan calon pengantin di Kelurahan Pedungan, Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan. Metode kegiatan dilakukan melalui pelatihan kebersihan gigi dan mulut menggunakan desain pretest-posttest terhadap 45 kader pada Februari–Oktober 2026. Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap pengetahuan, sikap, keterampilan, dan status plak setelah pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan seluruh kader (100%) memiliki pengetahuan baik, sikap baik, dan keterampilan sangat baik. Sebanyak 40 kader (88,89%) memiliki kategori plak sangat baik dan tidak ditemukan kategori plak buruk. Pemberdayaan kader melalui pelatihan efektif meningkatkan kapasitas kader sebagai agen promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut di masyarakat.
