Abstract

Dental caries is a disease that is still be a health problem in Indonesia. The high prevalence of caries amongst permanen teeth of Indonesia people associated with the patterns of consumption sugary foods and the tooth brushing behavior that are not good. When tooth brushing at a certain moment had not alone do one of the way that can be done by oral rinsing with water after eatingt sugary foods. The aim this study to determine the correlation between the oral rinsing habit with water after eating sugary foods with the occuring risk of caries on permanent teeth of twelve years old children in Denpasar.This observational study with case control design used 144 respondents as the samples that were divideed into case and control were 72 responden for each. Data of case were obtained from the result of survey by UKS program in Puskesmas Densel IV and systematic random sampling for control samples. The data were analysed using univariate and bivariate by chi-square. The habit of oral rinsing with water after eating sugary foods can reduce occuring risk dental caries is 3,250 just than the respondents who do not have the oral rinsing habit with water after eating sugary fodds. Oral rinsing with water after take a meal can dissolve carbohydraths that attched on the tooth surface so the oral rinsing habit with water after eating sugary foods can reduce occuring risk of dental caries. The suggestion is if do not have time for tooth brushing so can do by oral rinsing with water.

Abstract

Dental school health services is one way to increase the children awarness for maintaining oral health since early age which is expected to improve the oral health for all people but until now the incidence of dental caries is stilil high. Dental caries incidence in twelve years children still remains high is often associated with consumption patterhs of sugary food and not properly tooth brushing. This study aimed to determine the correlation of tooth brushing behavior and consumption patterns of sugary foods with caries on permanent dentition at twelve years children. This study is an observational with case control design used 144 of twelve years children as samples (72 cases and 72 controls). Case samples had been obtained based on examination by Health  School Services (UKS) of Puskesmas Densel IV mean while control samples were taken by a systematic random sampling. Data had been analyzed by univariate, bivariate with chi square, and multivariate with double regression. The results of the logistic regression test showed that the not properly tooth brushing can significantly increase the occuronce dental caries risk was 9.077 times. The consumption patterns of sugary foods can increase the occurance dental caries risk was 8.826 times. The not gargling habits with  water after eating sugary foods can increase dental caries risks was 3.250 times than the habitual of gargle with water after that. While variable of gender that no association with the incidence caries on permanent dentition at twelve years children. The tooth brushing behavior, consumption patterns of sugary foods, and gargling habits with water had related to incidence of dental caries. The gender were not related to the incidence of dental caries.

Abstract

Periodontal disorders is one of the risks that can occur at patients with Diabetes Mellitus. The ignorance of patients for prevention and checking their teeth and mouth that caused periodontitis and result in early tooth lossed. The one solution that can be done for Diabetes Mellitus patients in preventing of periodontal disorders is to right brush their teeth regularly. The aim of the study was to analyze the influence of booklet to increase of knowledge, attitude, and behaviour of  Diabetes Mellitus patients in prevention of periodontal diseases in prevention of periodontal diseases at Puskesmas II Denpasar Utara in 2018. The type of this study is action research that was in dental health education form to improve the knowledge and behaviour to maintain the healthy teeth to total population that amount to 100 patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Puskesmas II Denpasar Utara. The results of this study were based on Paired Sample Test and Willcoxon showed that there is a significant effect on using the booklet to increase of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of tooth brushing that each p = 0.00 (p 0.05).

Abstract

Dental health and periodontal tissue are very critical in adolescence. Teenage oral cavity problems are caused due to poor dental and oral hygiene and irregular eating patterns. Promotion of dental and oral health in adolescents can be done through counseling both individuals and group counseling, while those who have tartar problems need to get scaling. The purpose of this study is to improve oral hygiene and knowledge about the maintenance of oral and dental health of students of SMP No. 2 Marga in Tabanan Regency in 2018. Method of this study is one group pretest and posttest without control group design. Data was taken before an action and evaluating it after that. The result of this study showed that there is an increased in the average value of knowledge of students before and after getting counseling with an average value before counseling was equal to 57.74 with less criteria and after counseling increased to 72.02 with good criteria. The results of statistical analysis of the value of knowledge indicate that the increase is not significant. The average OHI-S value of students decreased from 2.36 to 1.29 with moderate criteria, and the results of statistical analysis showed that the decline was significant, which means that with scaling action there was a significant increase in students' dental and oral hygiene, so it can be concluded that scaling and counseling can improve dental and oral hygiene of students and increase knowledge about how to maintain dental and oral hygiene.

Abstract

       Health promotion is one of the efforts to improve the capacity of the community, through learning from, by, for and with the community. Thus they can help themselves, and develop community-based activities, in accordance with the culture of the local community and are supported by policies with a health perspective. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of online dental and oral health education in increasing knowledge about dental and oral health care for members of the Gianyar tourism community. This research is a pre-experimental study with one group pre and post test design. The number of respondents in this study were 80 people consisting of 47 men (58.75%) and 33 women (41.25%). The education level of respondents was mostly high school / equivalent 27 people (33.75%) and at least 2 people (2.5%) at postgraduate level. The average level of knowledge of respondents before being given counseling on oral health was 66.18 and after counseling was 74.18. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test obtained a negative ranks value of 0, which means there is no decrease from the pertest value to the post-test value. The positive rank value was 77, this result shows that 77 respondents experienced an increase in the value from the pretest to posttest. The conclusion of this study is that respondents have increased their knowledge after being given counseling on dental health maintenance.

Abstract

Pregnancy can affect dental and oral health including how to brush your teeth. This condition occurs an increase in levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone, due to nausea and vomiting in the morning. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship of knowledge level and gestational age to the behavior of pregnant women about how to brush their teeth in Gianyar Regency in 2021. This type of research is crossecsional research with survey methods using gooleform links. The respondents to this study were pregnant women at the time of KKN IPE which amounted to 45 people. The results showed respondents how to brush their teeth on the front how to going up and down as much as 57.78%, how to brush teeth on the side facing the cheeks by going up and down slightly twisting as much as 71.11%, how to brush teeth on the mastication by way back and forth as much as 100%, How to brush your teeth on the part facing the tongue and sky sky in a way gouging from the gums to the surface of the teeth as much as 60%. Bivariate analysis with a p value of of 0.05 showed no meaningful association between knowledge level and gestational age to pregnant women's behavior on how to brush their teeth. The conclusion of this study shows that most pregnant women brush their teeth in the right way and there is no relationship of knowledge level and gestational age to the behavior of pregnant women about how to brush their teeth.

Abstract

8.5 % of the  Gianyar regency population have  the teeth and  mouth problem. The knowledge of oral health care needs to be improved. The Oral health is a fundamental part of  public health and well-being .The purpose of this study is to know the differences of oral health care knowledge level of SDN 2 Singapadu Kaler students before and after given education. The total population of  this experimental sudy were 40 students. Data was based on the answers of the questionnaire before and after given education.The results of this study showed that the oral health care knowledge level of SDN 2 Singapadu Kaler students before and after given education were different significantly (p0.05). The mean of knowledge level after given education had changed from 63.87 to 91. Conclusion of this study is  the oral health care knowledge level of SDN 2 Singapadu Kaler students after given education has increased.

Abstract

Dental and oral disease is a public health problem today, especially periodontal tissue disease and dental caries. Both of these diseases will be able to cause interference with the function of mastication, so that it can interfere with the process of digestion and absorption of food. Statistics show that dental and oral disease affects almost everyone, including people with disabilities, including the physically disabled group. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of knowledge on tooth brushing behavior of people with disabilities at the Cahaya Mutiara Foundation Ubud, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency in 2020. The research method was Pre and Post tests, which were tested with a one sample test from Wilcoxon. The results showed that the higher the target's knowledge of how to take care of teeth, the better the target's behavior for brushing teeth. The statistical test showed that there was a significant effect on increasing knowledge before and after being given counseling, namely the P value of 0.00. The conclusion is that there is a significant effect on increasing knowledge before and after being given counseling, namely the P value of 0.00. It is recommended to keep  until their behavior is formed into a habit that supports dental and oral health.

Abstract

 Dental and oral health problems in the school age group are an important concern in the development of dental and oral health because children are a group that is vulnerable to dental and oral diseases. Efforts to educate about the maintenance of dental and oral health to target school children are the first priority. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the level of knowledge of dental and oral health maintenance through outreach with posters and videos media which was carried out online to students of SDN 2 Kaliakah, Negara Subdistrict in 2022. The research was a pre-experimental one group pretest and posttest design. The type of data used is secondary data. The results showed the percentage level of knowledge before counseling with the most poster media with less criteria was 36.67% and increased to very good criteria 86.67%. The most video media with sufficient criteria is 40%, and after counseling all students have very good criteria 100%. The average level of knowledge with poster media is 53 (less), after counseling it becomes 89.17 (very good), while before counseling with video media 59.17 (less) it increases after counseling to 93.83 (very good). The Mann-Whitney analysis test showed a significant difference in the level of knowledge through counseling with video and poster media with a significance value of p 0.05. In conclusion, the level of knowledge of respondents using video media is higher than using posters.

Abstract

Statistics show that dental and oral disease affects almost everyone, including people who have diabetes mellitus. Tooth brushing behavior is one of the most important and effective health behaviors for the maintenance of dental and oral health by preventing plaque from forming on the teeth. Brushing your teeth will reduce the contact of sucrose and bacteria so that it can prevent caries. This Community Service Method is this service is carried out by providing counseling and training on brushing teeth. The measurement of knowledge and behavior of brushing teeth was carried out by pre-posttest. Furthermore, the collected data were analyzed descriptively and analytically. Namely an increase in knowledge about dental and oral health after community service activities, namely before counseling most of the knowledge targets were categorized as lacking and after counseling their knowledge became good category. After the tooth brushing training activity, there was an increase in tooth brushing behavior from the poor category to the good category. The results of the statistical test showed that there was a significant difference in the knowledge, and tooth brushing behavior before and after the counseling and brushing training activities with a significant value of 0.000 (p 0.05). It is recommended to holders of non-communicable disease programs, especially chronic disease programs at puskesmas and related parties, to continue to provide promotive services in the field of dental health on an ongoing basis.
