Abstract

Menarche is a critical developmental milestone that often generates anxiety and maladaptive perceptions among adolescent girls when adequate preparedness is lacking. This study examined the effect of psychoeducational intervention on menarche readiness among female students at SD Negeri Gebangsari 01 using a school-based quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study involved 45 fourth- and fifth-grade female students selected through total sampling. Menarche readiness was measured using a validated and reliable ordinal-scale questionnaire, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to assess within-subject changes. The findings demonstrated a significant increase in mean readiness scores from pretest to posttest, accompanied by a shift toward higher readiness categories and reduced variability in responses. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between pre-intervention and post-intervention readiness levels (p < 0.05), indicating that the observed changes were attributable to the psychoeducational intervention. These results suggest that structured psychoeducation effectively enhances cognitive and emotional preparedness for menarche among primary school girls. The study highlights the strategic role of schools as early intervention settings for reproductive health education and supports the integration of psychoeducational programs into elementary school health promotion initiatives.

Abstract

There is a substantial increase in physical, psychological, and emotional development during adolescence, the developmental period before adulthood. Primary dysmenorrhea, or menstrual pain caused by an unexplained medical cause, affects many young women during this period and can negatively impact their learning ability and overall well-being. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 10 Semarang.  This study used a cross-sectional technique to measure correlation. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Using a stratified random sampling procedure, a total of 128 respondents were selected. Multiple logistic regression and the chi-square test were used for statistical analysis of the collected data. Based on the analysis results obtained from 128 research respondents, it was shown that the duration of menstruation (p=0.003), family history (p=0.000), body mass index (p=0.003), and physical activity (p=0.003) were significantly associated with the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea. Meanwhile, age at menarche (p=0.060), and menstrual cycle (p=0.654) did not show a significant relationship. Conclusion there are factors that influence the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea in female adolescents at SMA Negeri 10 Semarang.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in children remains a significant health problem in Indonesia. The success of TB treatment in children greatly depends on the involvement and readiness of the family as the primary companion during therapy. Lack of knowledge, emotional readiness, and family support can lead to non-compliance with treatment and drug resistance. The OAT Parent's Program is a family-based intervention that aims to improve parents' readiness to accompany their children undergoing TB therapy. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the OAT Parent's Program on family readiness to undergo pulmonary TB treatment in children at the Sari Asih Ciledug Hospital children's ward. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group. The sample consisted of 60 respondents divided into an intervention group and a control group. The instruments used were questionnaires on knowledge, attitudes, actions, and family readiness. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests. The results showed a significant increase in family readiness after the OAT Parent's Program was administered to the intervention group (p < 0.05). This program effectively improved the knowledge, attitudes, actions, and readiness of families compared to the control group. In conclusion, the OAT Parent's Program has been proven effective in improving families' readiness to accompany their children undergoing pulmonary TB treatment.
