Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed storybook. Research and Development proposed by Branch (2009) consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) was used in developing the product. In the evaluation phase, formative evaluation proposed by Tessmer (1993) consisting of experts review, there were three experts reviewing the product, namely content expert, media expert, and instructional design expert. Three students involved in the one-to-one evaluation, six students involved in the small group phase and eleven students in the field phase. To collect the data, questionnaires, interview, and a test was used. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively for the interview and quantitatively by using the average score for the questionnaires and percentage for the test. The developed product was valid after being evaluated in the expert review phase in terms of its content, media, and instructional design with an average score of 4.1 categorized as highly valid. The product was also practical with an average score of 4.6 in One-To-One and 4.0 in Small Group phase categorized as highly practical. The product was also had very high effectiveness which average score 91.2.

Abstract

The objectives of the study was to develop the textbook for Elementary school of the sixth grade students. The population were eighteen students at the sixth grade A class. Nowadays character building was a national movement in Indonesia. The educators asked to integrate it in the learning process, but unfortunately, there are still many teachers that still had difficult in integrating character building in classroom. In English class character building can be integrated through inserting culture in the material, therefore the students are not only learning about the material but they also learned about the value of the culture. The purpose of this research was develop English material for sixth grade students based on character building. The method of this study was Research and Development (R&D) by ADDIE model (1990) was applied Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and evaluation the product. The subjects of research were the students at elementary school of sixth grade. The result of research showed that the textbook developed was appropriate to the students’ needs and curriculum. The writer concluded that developing English textbook for Elementary school at sixth grade students of SD IT An-nida Lubuklinggau got positive response from six grade students because it can help easier for students comprehend the material clearly. So in this study, the textbook can help students facilitate learning English in the classroom.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out teachers perceptions about the importance of English for young learners at Elementary Schools in Lubuklinggau Timur I . The sample of the research was 83 teachers from 4 Elementary Schools in Lubuklinggau Timur I. The samples were taken through cluster random sampling. The researcher used survey research and the data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. Technique for analyzing the data used simple basic statistical technique. The data were scored by using Likert scale. The results of the research were 1 If the young learners learn English early, the English mastery will be better, 2 English will be useful for the young learners to get a job in the future, and 3 By mastering English, the young learners will have the social and economic benefits in the future. Therefore, it can be concluded that the teachers of Elementary Schools in Lubuklinggau Timur I agreed that English for Young Learners was important. Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out how students speaking in professional context at the 2nd semester of STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau can be improved through inductive approach. The researcher used Action Research or classroom action research. The research conducted at STKIP PGRI Lubuk Linggau academic year 2014/2015. The research conducted to the students who took speaking class (Speaking for Professional context). The class consists of 34 students. The procedures of the actions were four steps as follows: (1) planning, (2) implementing, (3) observing and (4) reflecting. The findings of the strategy implementation were analyzed from the research instruments used, observation checklists, field notes, speaking test and Interview. There were thirty four (34) students as the samples of class room action research. Based on the product of test, they were 30 of 34 students (88.24 percent) successfully passed the final of speaking test. Based on the interview of 34 students in second semester only 6 students who were still not confidence in speaking and there were 28 students or (82.35 percent) who did not feel easily embarrassed when they spoke in the class especially in formal class. Based on the data above, this classroom action research succeeds to improve students skill in speaking for professional context. It means that, inductive approach that has 6 steps, 13 meeting, and 7 topics was success. Keyword: Speaking, Professional Context, Inductive, Approach

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out communication strategies used by the Primary teachers in EFL classroom. The sample of the research was 3 teachers in grade 2, 5 and 6 at Palm Kids Elementary School of Lubuklinggau. The samples were taken through Purposive sampling. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research and the data were collected by using observation, interview, and documentation(field note and video recording). The result revealed that communiction strategies used by the English teachers’ were code switching, intra-lingual, IL based strategies, non-linguistics, cooperative, and formal reduction. In the other English teachers’ responded towards are the communication strategies helped the students understood the meaning, made the students easier to understood the material, helped students to understand what English said, helped to explain the material more detail in teaching and learning process and made the students have to master English well. Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out teachers’ perceptions about the importance of English for young learners at Elementary Schools in Lubuklinggau.Type of survey used in this study was cross-sectional survey research. To select the sample, cluster random sampling used in this research. Cluster random sampling here focused on the eight (8) districts of Lubuklinggaucity (Lubuklinggau Utara1-2, Selatan1-2, Barat1-2 and Timur1-2). The researchers chose randomly four (4) districts.The researcher used the representative sample from each districts chosen. 100 teachers, 100 students, and 100 parents are samples. The researcher used survey research and the data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. Technique for analyzing the data used simple basic statistical technique. The data are scored by using Likert scale. The results of the research were: 1) the respondents agree that the children who learn foreign language early as possible will get the better result. 2) the respondents very agree that economic globalization has pushed the necessity of workers who are able to speak English. 3) the respondents agree that the enthusiasm of parents in supporting their children to learn English hopefully can help their children will have social and economic benefits in the future. Based on the result of the data, it can be concluded that the teachers, students and parents of Elementary Schools in Lubuklinggau agree that English for Young Learners is important. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the ability of the first students to write present continuous sentences triggered by picture. In specific the purposes of this study are as follows: 1. to describe the students’ ability of SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang to write positive form sentences in present continuous tense triggered by pictures. 2. to describe the students’ ability of SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang to write negative form sentences in present continuous tense triggered by pictures. 3. to describe the students’ ability of SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang to write interrogative form sentences in present continuous tense triggered by pictures. The design of this study was a descriptive in nature. According to Gay (1987:189), descriptive research involves collecting data in order to answer question concerning the current status of the subject of the study. The instrumentation that used to collect the data in this research was writing test. It consisted of 20 pictures. In this test, the students were required to write present continuous in simple sentences (positive sentences, negative sentences and interrogative sentences) triggered by pictures. Based on the result of the study, in general, the students’ ability to write present continuous tense in simple sentences triggered by pictures was moderate since there were 24 students (55.81%) from 43 students had moderate ability. Data also exhibited that their ability to write positive form, negative form, and interrogative form was moderate with percentages as follow: 69.77% for positive form present continuous tense sentences triggered by pictures, 67.44% for negative form present continuous tense sentences triggered by pictures and 76.74% for interrogative form present continuous tense sentences triggered by pictures.

Abstract

The problem of the research was: “What are the teacher’s problem found in blended learning at SMAN 8 Muara Beliti?”. The objective of the research was to find out the teacher’s problem found in blended learning at SMA N 8 Muara Beliti. The sample of the research was an English Teacher at SMAN 8 Muara Beliti. The samples were taken through Purposive sampling. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research and the data were collected by interview, and documentation. A kind of interview used by the researcher was unstructured interview. Interview and documentation used to identify English teacher’s problem in teaching English when daring and luring process. Abstract

ABSTRACT The problem of this research was “is it significantly effective to teach vocabulary through the Concept Attainment Model (CAM) at SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020?” The objective of this research was to find out whether or not it is significantly effective to teach vocabulary through the Concept Attainment Model (CAM) at SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020. The population of this research was all of the seventh grades consist of 43 students of SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020 and total number of sample was 18 students from VIII.A. The sample in this research was taken through cluster random sampling. In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental method. In collecting the data, the researcher used written test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used three techniques. They were: individual score, normality test and matched t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis, the researcher found out that the students’ average score was 59.166 in the pre-test and it increased in the post-test which score was 78.888. The result of matched t-test was 7.498, while ttable was 1.734. It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Furthermore, it was significantly effective to teach vocabulary through the Concept Attainment Model (CAM) at SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020.
