Abstract

Semiotic is one of considerable approach in study of media, especially television advertisement. Emerging from meaning-based models, semiotic of television advertisement differs from the traditional information processing approach to advertising reception principally, because advertising meanings are constructed within the signifying frame of the “text” by audience or “advertisement reader”, rather than simply being delivered in content by the advertising. In effect, passive terms such as 'reception' and 'processing' in advertising audience relationship are rejected by meaning-based models and replaced with the more active concept of interpretation. This subtle shift in the advertising's syntagmatic and paradigmatic locus has had a number of major theoretical implications for the study of advertising interpretation. Most important, meaning-based models stress that audience members may well produce different interpretations about “meaning” in television advertisement.

Abstract

Sinar Harian has new comer daily newspaper in Selangor, and positioned as an independent newspapers. So, this media use marketing communication concepts in order to accepted by communities in their audience in Malaysia. The whole factor are become from their integrated marketing communication strategy (IMC), that have five indicators included advertising, personal selling, direct marketing, public relations and sales promotions as a promotional mix. Besides IMC strategy, Sinar Harian also make an IMC steps to high up their ranking at Malaysia newspaper industries. IMC steps have four indicators and it is identify market target, make SWOT analized, make a marketing communication goals and strategy with tactics arrangement After the research, researchers got the truth that Sinar Harian are threaten a promotional mix indicators like advertising, personal selling, direct marketing, public relations and sales promotion to get their profits and sold up the newspaper. Then the IMC steps are made for Sinar Harian make a strategy based on SWOT analyzed and the whole IMC steps indicators for their positioning at Malaysia newspapers industries.

Abstract

This research analyzed neutrality and balance of two local newspapers, especially for election reporting during public campaign period (June 9-22,2005) in three cities of Yogyakarta Special Province (Bantul, Sleman, Gunungkidul). The research used quantitative content analysis methods, and the objects of the research were selected news in Kedaulatan Rakyat and Kompas Yogya. The neutrality aspect was measured by dramatization that indicated from the existence of personalization, emotionalism, hyperbola, and irrelevance details. Then, the balance aspect was measured by presentation in some aspects of cover both sides principle, including avoidance of slant and source bias. This research found the lack of neutrality presentation and balance dimension. The highest aspect contributed by hyperbolic and irrelevance details. On the other hand, the imbalance reports occurred by source bias, showed by high percentage of slant and domination of candidates supporter groups.

Abstract

Conflict between Israel and Palestine still become the hot issue that all media covering on it. But the information flow about the conflict is dominated by Western Media. The domination followed by Western Media’s effort to manipulate the information. For example, Western Media called Palestine as a dispute land; meanwhile if we look at the history it was the Israel colonized Palestine.There are several alternative point of view about the conflict. One of the alternative point offered by Joe Sacco, an US comic writer. Sacco offers the stories from fact that often forgotten by the Western Media. This research discuss about Footnotes in Gaza, one of Sacco’s comic. Footnotes in Gaza based on Sacco’s investigation about Khan Younis and Rafah incident in 1956, when the the Palestine civilian were being killed by Israeli soldiers.This research use Sara Mills’ positioning the subject-object as the methods. In The Footnotes in Gaza, clearly seen that the position of the narrator (the subject) is always held by the victims (the Palestinians), while the object is the Israeli with all their act of violence.

Abstract

The political economy of information, as a reference for a communication scientific field, is widely used as a generic term for the political and economic investigation of media discourse. As media construction, an information frequently represent political and economical interests. Critical discourse analysis (CDA) become one important model to analyze relationship between reality, ideology in power relations in media. Interdisciplinary combination of linguistic theory, critical theory and political economics thought used to analyze how political or economical interests play in media appearance.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berusaha mengelaborasi dinamika dan problematika praktik jurnalistik pada salah satu lembaga penyiaran publik, yakni LPP RRI. Isi telaah didasarkan pada beberapa studi yang penulis lakukan di beberapa stasiun RRI, antara lain di wilayah meliputi Gorontalo, Manokwari, Batam, dan Makassar; termasuk pula beberapa studi serupa oleh Tim Peneliti RRI di kota lain pada tahun 2011-2012. Secara umum, pengakuan eksistensi ijembaga Penyiaran Publik sejak satu dekade silam belum diikuti oleh praktik penyiaran yang independen dan memberi layanan informasi yang optimum untuk masyarakat. Pada tingkat praksis jurnalistik, sekalipun kehadirannya pada kawasan terpencil dan perbatasan siaran RRI masih diminati, praktik jurnalisme penyiaran di kedua lembaga tersebut pada umumnya masih belum mampu menjadi pilihan publik. Permasalahan yang dihadapi berkisar pada rendahnya kualitas implementasi manajemen redaksional, termasuk di dalamnya ketersediaan sumber daya yang memadai; perhatian terhadap infrastruktur, serta pengarusutamaan siaran jurnalistik RRI untuk menjadikannya sebagai institusi pers dan penyiaran yang independen. Sebagai karya hasil observasi dan dokumentasi lapangan, tulisan ini tidak berpretensi melakukan kajian dokumentatif terhadap kinerja karya jurnalistik pada siaran-siaran berita yang dihasilkan oleh radio-radio yang dikaji, melainkan lebih pada problematika kelembagaan dan persoalan lapangan dalam konteks pelaksanaan praktik jurnalisme penyiaran di RRI.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran awal bagi masyarakat terkait kredibilitas berita yang disiarkan portal berita daring Detik.com dan Kompas.com dalam insiden bom Sarinah periode 14 Januari sampai 14 Februari 2016. Penelitian dilakukan di portal berita daring media Detik .com dan Kompas.com dengan menggunakan analisis isi kuantitatif. Analisis kuantitatif digunakan untuk mengukur kredibilitas portal berita daring dengan teori objektivitas pemberitaan media massa yang diajukan oleh Denis McQuail. Dengan melihat dimensi faktualitas dan ketidakberpihakan melalui enam aspek di dalamnya seperti factualness, accuracy, kelengkapan, news value, balance dan neutrality. Berdasarkan hasil total skor enam aspek penelitian tersebut, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa nilai kredibilitas portal berita daring Kompas.com lebih tinggi daripada nilai kredibilitas Detik.com di berita Bom Sarinah periode 14 Januari sampai 14 Februari 2016. Kata Kunci: bom sarinah, kredibilitas berita, media daring, analisis isi

Abstract

Drug use in the service program is intended as a first step in the prevention ofdrug trafficking among teenagers early on. Elementary school students grades 5 and 6are students with the transition to the age of adolescence for the next 1-2 years theywill move into the adolescent level. When children move on to middle and high schooleducation usually desire to explore for themselves become more powerful, and tend tobe dangerous and are vulnerable to the negative things.Lack of knowledge of the greatdangers that lurk as a result of their delinquency makes the juvenile may be falling preyto trafficking and drug use. Moreover, based on author interviews with the schoolobtained the explanation that the introduction of drug activities or similar activitiesrelated to the prevention of juvenile delinquency had not been established at all.In thatregard the authors deliberately do this activity as a form of devotion in order to reducenegative behavior and drug abuse and other harmful additives in the future. In theactivities carried out for approximately 12 hours these children are very enthusiastic andbe understood definitions, forms, uses and dangers of drugs and commit to not use it inthe future.

Abstract

Beberapa tahun belakangan penonton televisi kita akrab disuguhi dengan beragam tayangan misteri. Umumnya tersaji dalam bentuk sinetron, yang biasanya diklaim sebagai acara religi, dan kadang memang diorientasikan untuk sarana dakwah. Tayangan-tayangan sinetron religius memang tidak terlepas dari kecerdikan produsennya di dalam membidik rasa penasaran dan kebutuhan hiburan pemirsanya yang sebagian besar umat Islam. Kendati demikian, seringkali tayangan program-program siaran relijius ini menyimpan persoalan tersendiri, yakni menjauhnya konten program dari pemahaman agama yang rasional dan berdimensi tauhid murni. Dari perspektif aqidah Islam, sebagian besar program relijius justru cenderung mengandung nuansa kesyirikan, baik yang nyata atau terselubung. Alih-alih menjadi acara yang bertujuan meningkatkan akidah penonton (muslim), acara yang ditayangkan televisi ini justru menampilkan penyimpangan akidah, sehingga sesungguhnya yang ada di dalam konten acara religius bertentangan dengan makna religiusitas sendiri.

Abstract

Salted fish is a fish product with simple preservation method as a solution to increase value added, extend shelf life and expand the distribution chain, and provide convenience and distinctive taste to be consumed. The groups of small industries and marketer “POKLAHSAR SRIKANDI” and “BOGOWONTO” have produced 10-50 kg salted fish per day. The fish is taken from Congot coastal areas, to increase its value added when it was in low price because it was abundant and to maintain the stability of Pohlaksar’s income when it was scarcity. Both the POKLAHSAR have commitment to produce healthy salted fish (without formaldehyde) but they had problem, especially in the rainy season, in drying process that took a long time and attrack the flies so it can be harmfull. Program of Science and Technology for community has applied dryer as innovation product to improve  productivity, hygiene and quality of salted fish. The dryer which was made of affordable material, has affordable operation manner and maintenance, so it can be adopted by fishermen. The design of dryer combine solar heating systems and air heating units using modified furnaces. This dryer is capable to dry 25 kg of fresh fish by reducing their water content from 72.2% to 12.3% within 9 hours. The salted fish processed within this dryer was more white, crunchy and not fishy than the salted fish dried by convensional drying. In addition, the programs also consist of packaging advisory, marketing and business coach to trigger the motivation of both POKLAHSAR for their development and sustainability.
