Abstract

This community service (PkM) aims to introduce the concept of Positive Psychology (PP) theory into English learning classroom to junior high school students. The method used is through direct teaching and training in the classroom over the course of four meetings. The teaching is carried out in several sessions consisting of material delivery on psychological factors of learning, easy steps to write, the application of positive psychology in relation to learning English, and the theory of writing in English. The teaching series was attended by grade 8 students at MTsN 3 Sleman whose English language skills were relatively low. The result obtained from this community service is that students can apply positive psychology theory in classroom by writing a gratitude journal as the main outcome.

Abstract

Mothers who pursue higher education often face negative stereotypes due to patriarchal culture. Therefore, it is important to advocate for mother-student groups and provide them with support. The PhD Mama Indonesia community is one such support system that spreads its ideas through various internet-based media platforms. This paper examines the communication planning of the PhD Mama Indonesia social movement community in conducting digital activism, specifically through their Instagram account @phdmamaindonesia. The research is qualitative, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews with the head of the Creative Design and Instagram Division, observation of uploads on Instagram @phdmamaindonesia, and supporting literature. The research findings indicate that the community employs four stages of communication planning, namely the Share, Optimize, Manage, and Engage stages, as proposed by the Circular Model of SoMe by Regina Luttrell. However, the implementation of these stages was not optimal in some cases due to the voluntary membership and lack of external funding assistance of PhD Mama Indonesia community. Their Instagram account remains active due to the common interests of the members, which is typical of digital activism.

Abstract

Toxic masculinity speech is a negative communication expression rooted in a culture of masculinity and giving rise to social constructions of maleness. Although global studies on toxic masculinity have been immensely expanded, research emphasizing this practice on social media in Indonesia is still limited. This study analyzes expressions of toxic masculinity in Instagram user comments about Emil Mario, one of the account owners who is frequently in the spotlight and the target of toxic speech on the platform. The research corpus was compiled from 160 comments on 10 posts from January to June 2025 and analyzed using qualitative content analysis methods, employing thematic coding. The results identified five main themes: gender stereotypes, verbal aggression, physical objectification, dominance and control, and rejection of feminine behavior. The results also found the presence of prominent local pejorative terms, confirming the conclusion that expressions of toxic masculinity also reflect local cultural characteristics in the digital space.
