Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership of school principals in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a quantitative descriptive research method with as many as 63 school principals as respondents who were scattered throughout Indonesia. Data collection was carried out online using an open questionnaire via the google form platform. The data were then analyzed using theme and percentage analysis to measure and analyze the conditions of learning governance during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results showed that 54.55% of the learning activities in schools were carried out online during the Covid-19 pandemic. Then in online learning activities 36.89% use google classroom, 20.39% use zoom, and 15.53% use Whatsapp. Most of the applications used to carry out online learning activities are Google classroom, Zoom and WhatsApp and a few others use other applications. Some of the governance processes in schools have been carried out well but some have not been maximized because they are constrained by the availability of facilities, networks, tools and the limited skills of teachers in using technological media. Learning strategies as well as discussions and strengthening between school principals and school personnel are needed to maximize school governance especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The process of physical growth and development in children is often disturbed, one of the causes is malnutrition. Another case in the elderly, where problems that often occur besides malnutrition are also mobility disorders. Mobility disorders in the elderly are caused by the elderly worrying about moving their bodies, for this reason, fitness training is needed for the elderly to be able to carry out their daily activities. The purpose of this PkM is to provide balanced nutrition education for children and the elderly and physical exercise to improve elderly fitness. The method used is to provide education (counseling) and fitness practices. The participants who attended amounted to 68 people. The implementation of this community service begins with preparation, namely coordination with partners and the team. The implementation of the service starts from anthropometric examinations; providing education on child and elderly nutrition; fitness training; and giving tokens of appreciation from the service team and partners. The education went well which was marked by the many curiosities of the participants, as well as during the practice of physical exercise, the participants felt that the exercises given could be done easily for elderly people with limited mobility. Providing education and refresher exercises needs to be done regularly, for that the partners can follow up cooperation with facilitators who can guide church health cadres.

Abstract

Older adults face a heightened risk of falling both indoors and outdoors due to age-related declines in balance. One contributing factor is weakness or instability in the ankle joint, which can significantly impair postural control and lead to limitations in daily activities. As balance deteriorates, functional capacity in the lower limbs declines, further hindering mobility and independence. Enhancing ankle strength and stability is therefore essential to improving balance and reducing fall risk in this population. This study investigates the impact of Strategic Ankle Exercise on balance and falling risk among older adults. Employing a one-group pre-test and post-test experimental design, the study involved 33 participants who met the inclusion criteria and were selected through total sampling. Balance was assessed using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test. Paired sample t-tests conducted via SPSS revealed a significant improvement in dynamic balance following the intervention: BBS scores increased from 44 to 50.8, while TUG scores decreased from 15.5 to 10.1 (p < 0.001). A correlation analysis indicated a strong negative relationship between changes in BBS and TUG scores (r = -0.86; p < 0.001), suggesting that improvements in balance were associated with reduced fall risk Strategic Ankle Exercise emerges as an effective, evidence-based intervention for enhancing balance and minimizing fall risk in older adults. These findings support the integration of this program into geriatric care strategies. Future research should explore optimal exercise dosage and customization to maximize benefits across diverse age groups and functional levels. Keyword: Balance, Ankle strategic exercise, BBS, TUG

Abstract

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder in college students and one of the contibuting factors is the anxiety they experience in their daily lives. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between anxiety and insomnia in college students. A cross sectional design was used in this study to achieve the objectives, employing two valid and reliable questionnaires to represent the study variables. The first questionnaire, the Self Reporting Questionare (SRQ), is used to assess anxiety, and responding affirmatively to six or more questions is indicative of the presence of mental and emotional disorders . The second questionnaire is Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), which is utilized to assess insomnia. The population of this study consists of active undergraduate students enrolled at one private university in Jakarta. A total of 290 students are selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data are analyzed using The Chi Square test and the calculating of the Odds Ratio (OR) value through IBM SPSS 21 software. The prevalence of insomnia in this student population is found to be 83.1%, while the prevalence of anxiety is 57.2%. A significant association is identified between anxiety and insomnia (p < .001). Students who experience anxiety are found to be 7.1 times more likely to report insomnia compared to those who do not experience anxiety. This suggests that Anxiety, as one of the psychological disorders, has a strong influence on the sleep quality of college students, increasing their likelihood of developing insomnia by sevenfold. The findings of this study highlight a considerable co-occurrence of anxiety and insomnia among students. Further research is warranted to explore potential interventions that address both conditions simultaneously and to identify other factors that may contribute to sleep disturbances and psychological distress in the population.
