Abstract

Cases of child abuse in the last few years have occurred in Indonesia. Cases of violence that afflict early childhood are caused by several factors, one of which is the lack of sex education in early childhood. An understanding of the knowledge and availability of educators' skills is needed to start the application of sex education. The aims of this research is to find out the relationship between knowledge and attitudes about early childhood sex education in kindergarten teachers. Research method is an observational analytic cross sectional. The study was carried out in 2019. Total sample of kindergarten teacher research was 41 teachers in Pakualaman Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. Data analysis using chi-square test. The results of this research are the majority of teachers' knowledge is good (59.1%) with the majority of attitudes are not supportive (61.4%) which means that the respondent does not have the willingness to provide knowledge about sex education to kindergarten students. Most of the respondents were in the age range beetween 41 to 60 years (63.6%), higher education (93.2%) with non early childhood education undergraduate qualifications (50%), the media often used to obtain information about sex education was electronic media (77.3%) that is by using the internet (47.7%). Relationship between knowledge and attitudes teacher about early childhood sex education. The level of good knowledge has an opportunity of 5.833 times to support the provision of early childhood sex education.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a global public health problem affecting both developing and developed countries with major consequences on human health as well as social and economic development. Anemia resulting from iron deficiency that may adversely affects the infants’ cognitive and motor development. The objective of this research was to find out the risk factors of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in 6 months old infants.Methods: This was an observational research with case-control design. Population was all 6 months old infants having been examined for their hemoglobin levels in Tegalrejo public health center in Yogyakarta from 2017 to 2018. 164 samples were taken with random sampling contained of 82 infants with anemia diagnosis in case group and 82 infants with normal hemoglobin levels for control group. Dependent variable was iron deficiency anemia (IDA) assessed based on hemoglobin level less than 11 gr% and independent variables were IDA risk factors (birth weight, sex, maternal education, maternal occupation, and maternal age) obtained from medical records and direct interviews. Data were analyzed by using logistic regression. Results: the risk factor influencing IDA was exclusive breastfeeding (p<0.05). Infants who did not receive exclusive breastfeeding had 2.16 folds higher risk of having IDA than those who received exclusive breastfeeding. Other risk factors such as birth weight, sex, maternal education, maternal occupation, and maternal age did not correlate significantly to iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding was the significant risk factor toward iron deficiency anemia in 6 months old infants after controlling other risk factors. Therefore, these finding can be implemented by maternal and child health practitioners to make iron deficiency anemia prevention program by eliminating or minimizing its risk factor.

Abstract

Kasus kekerasan anak beberapa tahun terakhir banyak terjadi di Indonesia. Kasus kekerasan yang menimpa anak usia dini, disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor salah satunya adalah kurangnya pendidikan seks pada anak usia dini. Pemahaman tentang pengetahuan dan ketersediaan keterampilan para pendidik sangat diperlukan untuk memulai aplikasi pendidikan seks. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan dan sikap tentang pendidikan seks anak usia dini pada guru taman kanak-kanak. Penelitian merupakan analitik observasional desain cross sectional. Pengambilan data dilaksanakan pada tahun 2019. Jumlah sampel penelitian 41 guru taman kanak-kanak di Kapanewon Pakualaman, Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian berupa tingkat pengetahuan guru mayoritas baik (59,1%) dengan mayoritas sikap tidak mendukung (61,4%) yang memiliki arti bahwa responden tidak memiliki kesediaan untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang pendidikan seksual pada siswa taman kanak-kanak. Sebagian besar responden berada pada rentang usia 41 s.d 60 tahun (63,6%), pendidikan tinggi (93,2%) dengan kualifikasi sarjana non Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) sebesar 50%, media yang sering digunakan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang pendidikan seks adalah media elektronik (77,3%) yaitu dengan menggunakan internet (47,7%). Terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan sikap guru tentang pendidikan seks anak usia dini. Tingkat pengetahuan baik memiliki peluang 5,833 kali untuk bersikap mendukung terhadap pemberian pendidikan seks anak usia dini.
