Abstract

Diaper rash is a common condition among children aged 0–18 months and is often caused by mothers' insufficient knowledge of proper perianal care. This community service program aimed to improve mothers' knowledge regarding perianal care for children aged 0–18 months in Dukuhlo Village, Tegal Regency, through the provision of an educational module. The program involved 51 mothers who had children aged 0–18 months and used disposable diapers. Participants were selected using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The intervention consisted of a pre-test, distribution of a perianal care educational module for self-directed learning, and a post-test evaluation. The results showed that prior to the intervention, the majority of mothers (58.8%) had poor knowledge regarding perianal care. Following the educational intervention, 92.2% of the mothers demonstrated good knowledge. These findings indicate a significant improvement in mothers' knowledge after receiving education on perianal care. Educational modules combined with demonstrations and audiovisual media can effectively enhance mothers' knowledge, thereby helping to prevent diaper rash in children.
