Abstract

A numerous study focused on learners’ motivation using Self-determination Theory perspective in language learning has documented in ESL/EFL Context. However, there is still limited study that investigates motivation in self-determination theory where the context in language learning particularly in English camp. Hence, this study investigates the perceived motivation using Self-determination theory by EFL learners in English Camp Program. Case study used as a research design which is to investigate the phenomenon of motivation in English camp. The data were collected from four learners as the participants in English Camp Program by semi-structured interviews and analyzed qualitatively using thematic analysis. In sum up, this study discovered that English Camp able to create autonomous motivation through authentic learning, effective teaching strategy, and tutors as an agents’ roles. In the end, the contribution of this study is to facilitate educator, especially in English language learning to create high-quality motivation.

Abstract

Commencing his teaching career as a university students’ English teacher in a religious surrounding, Harry, with his free-will and open-minded personality, has experienced a turbulent feeling. He was sometimes confused to situate himself in certain situations which turned him out to be a little bit more clunky. Within the framework of Hargreaver’s (2001) emotional geography, this present study explores the life of Harry amidst his two years teaching experience at one university in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia. This scrutiny was geared by employing in-depth interviews. Utilizing narrative inquiry as the research methodology, the researchers share the stories of Harry when updating into a novel teaching and cultural circumstance and delving into his emotional ups and downs. The findings of this study revealed five major issues, namely (1) Harry needs to be more careful when engaging with the students (2) teaching is the work of the soul, no matter what (3) exhaustion is very human, (4) experienced-based teaching practice, and (5) having supportive colleagues truly help.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Early English mastery for children is very urgent considering Indonesia has an important position in the world's interests, both economically, socially, culturally and politically. Therefore, the global communication capability is one of the national agenda which is affixed to the national curriculum which must be studied from elementary level to university. Local Language Wisdom Immersion approach based on Local Wisdom comes as an effort to face the challenge. The targets of this program are young learners, ranging in age from 10-12 years old, who sit at the elementary school level. Learners learn English using a mix of local and international content, enabling cross-cultural learning, and learning patterns using second language acquisition. Furthermore, the portfolio assessment is used for assessment, including test, questionnaire, observation, and documents. The advantages of English language immersion based on local wisdom, ie learners in addition to mastering basic English, they are also prepared psychologically, socially and culturally. Their future hopes will be the future of national communications capabilities of global communications capabilities. ABSTRAK: Penguasan bahasa Inggris sejak dini menjadi sangat urgen mengingat Indonesia memiliki posisi penting dalam pencaturan kepentingan dunia, baik secara ekonomi, social, budaya maupun politik. Oleh karena itu, kemampuan komunikasi global menjadi salah satu agenda nasional yang dibubuhkan menjadi kurikulum nasional yang harus dipelajari mulai tingkat dasar sampai perguruan tinggi. Pendekatan English Language Immersion berbasis Kearifan lokal hadir sebagai upaya menghadapi tantang tersebut. Sasaran program ini adalah pebelajar muda (English young learners), dengan rentang usia 10-12 tahun, yang duduk ditingkat sekolah dasar. Peserta didik belajar bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan perpaduan konten lokal dan internasional, sehingga memungkinkan akan adanya belajar lintas budaya, dan pola-pola belajar menggunakan teori pemerolehan bahasa kedua (Second language acquisition). Selanjutnya portfolio assessment digunakan untuk melihat kemampuan, kinerja dan prestasi yang terukur dengan menggunakan alat assessmen, diantaranya test, kuesioner, observasi, dan dokumen. Kelebihan dari English language immersion berbasis kearifan lokal, yaitu peserta didik disamping dapat menguasai bahasa Inggris dasar, mereka juga dipersiapkan secara psikologis, sosial dan budaya. Harapan kedepan mereka akan menjadi duta bangsa di masa depan yang akan menyampaikan pesan kepada dunia bahwa bangsa Indonsia adalah bangsa yang besar yang memiki keunggulan-keunggulan lokal yang dapat dinilai secara ekonomi maupun politik yang patut dibanggakan ditingkat dunia melalui kemampuan komunikasi global yang mereka kuasai.

Abstract

The West Java Government has categorized Tasikmalaya be at level 4 (heavy) related to the spread of Covid-19. Community Health Centre of Cibeureum provides health services for the community in Cibeureum District, covering 5 villages. Community Health Centre of Cibeureum provides hospitalization . The average pre-Covid visitasion was 150-200 patients per day, then during the Covid period it decreased to 50-70 patients per day. During the PSBB period, employees of the Community Health Centre of Cibeureum have experienced significant changes in work psycholog, because in addition to having the obligation to serve community, employees were worried about exposure to the Covid-19 virus. There are various kinds of air sterilization methods, including using high pressure : both positive and negative, ultraviolet light, HEPA, and ozone. Apart from being used as an antiseptic, ozone has antiviral, antifungal, and antiprotozoal functions. On the other hand, ozone can also have adverse health effects if used without using standard regulations.

Abstract

Pengembangan diri dan profesional dianggap vital di kalangan guru untuk mendukung peran mereka sebagai agen perubahan dalam lingkungan pendidikan. Namun, sedikit perhatian ditujukan pada masalah bagaimana guru membangun, memperkuat dan memelihara pengembangan diri dan profesional mereka, terutama di tingkat sekolah menengah di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, program ini bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi guru dalam membangun, mengembangkan dan merefleksikan pengembangan diri dan profesional mereka melalui menulis. Program ini dilaksanakan di SMP dan SMA Terpadu Darulmutaalimin di Kota Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Peserta program ini adalah 27 guru dari sekolah tersebut. Program ini dilaksanakan dalam sembilan pertemuan setiap minggunya dengan tema utama 'menulis sebagai cerminan pengembangan pribadi dan profesional guru'. Program ini mengadopsi Participatory Action Research (PAR) untuk membantu guru mengembangkan pengembangan diri dan profesional mereka melalui kegiatan menulis (Kemmis, et. al. 2014). Kegiatan program ini meliputi empat tahapan besar, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Hasil pelatihan ini menunjukkan bahwa guru mampu mendorong pengembangan diri dan profesional mereka melalui menulis cerita. Selain itu, mereka menganggap bahwa menulis merupakan strategi yang efektif untuk merefleksikan pengalaman dan persepsi mereka. Juga, menulis membantu mereka mengomunikasikan apa yang tidak terucapkan. Selanjutnya, menulis memotivasi mereka untuk lebih produktif dalam kehidupan pribadi, akademik dan profesional mereka. Berdasarkan fakta ini, memberdayakan guru untuk memiliki pengetahuan dan praktik yang memadai dalam menulis cerita memungkinkan mereka untuk melakukan pengembangan diri dan profesional secara berkelanjutan, memperkuat kegiatan refleksi secara personal dan menjadi pendidik yang produktif.

Abstract

Nowadays, English is regarded as a crucial language to master, particularly for communicative competence. One of many approaches to help learners to master English is Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). CLT has been recognized as the most common approach to promoting communicative competence. Moreover, it has been implemented by many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) countries involved in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the CLT implementation as performed by an EFL teacher in teaching spoken language at Secondary School. To achieve the aim, this study used a descriptive case study as a research design. The participant of the study was an EFL teacher who implements CLT in teaching spoken language. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observation, and document analysis. The result of the data collection was analyzed by using Qualitative Data Analysis from Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2014). The findings revealed that the CLT implementation has been performed by an EFL teacher through three components. Those are seen from the teacher’s way of deciding the material, being a facilitator in the teaching-learning process, and applying teaching-learning strategies. This research indicates that the use of the CLT approach could facilitate learners to develop communicative competence skills. Keywords: Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Spoken Language.

Abstract

Tujuan dari revitalisasi BUMDes untuk akselerasi pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat desa adalah untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa melalui pemberdayaan sel-sel potensi yang dimiliki desa baik terkait sumber daya alam maupun manusia. Revitalisasi BUMDes perlu dilakukan dalam rangka meningkatkan kinerja BUMDES untuk meraih pencapaian terbaik. Untuk kepentingan tersebut dipilih dua desa berdasarkan karakteristik tertentu yakni di Desa Cijulang dan Desa Sukaresik di Kabupaten Ciamis. Target dari kegiatan adalah para pengelola BUMdes, aparat, dan masyarakat mendapatkan (1) pengetahuan dalam pengelolaan BUMDes, (2) pemahaman manajemen resiko, (3) pengalaman dalam membuat analisis SWOT, dan (4) Pendampingan kewirausahaan kepada UMKM. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan model revitalisasi BUMDes dalam konteks pemberdayaan ekonomi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama 6 bulan diawali dengan observasi dan wawancara untuk mendapatkan data awal, Focus Grup Discussion (FGD), pembuatan model, penyusunan program revitalisasi dengan memperhatikan permasalahan yang dihadapi, yaitu dibidang manajemen, sistem informasi, peran serta dan kepercayaan masyarakat dan transparansi, dan kerjasama dengan perusahaan. Output atau luaran yang dihasilkan adalah publikasi artikel pada jurnal pengabdian dan media massa, dan sistem informasi BUMdes (SIBDes).
