Abstract

Abstract. In July 2019, the community was shocked by the circulation of illegal and counterfeit drugs that originated from the use of expired or damaged drugs that were discarded carelessly. The results of the supervision of the POM show that the findings of illegal and fake drugs tend to decrease, namely 29 cases in 2017, 21 cases in 2018, and 8 cases in early 2019. To eradicate the circulation of illegal drugs and drug abuse as well as increasing the degree of public health, the University of Muhammadiyah Palopo Pharmacy Study Program applies collaborative and synergistic based policies together across sectors. This action was moved by especially the professional organization of the Indonesian Pharmacist Association (IAI) PC Palopo through the "Let's Remove Trash Medicine" Movement in Latuppa Village, Mungkajang District, Palopo City. This movement is one of the community empowerment movements that is inseparable from the National Action to Eradicate Illegal Drugs and Drug Abuse (Aknas POIPO), which was launched by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2017. As a continuation of improving health and well-being through prevention of the circulation of illegal drugs and drug abuse, on September 29, 2019, the Pharmacy Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Palopo conducted a service titled "Let's Remove Drug Waste." Through this community service activity, the Pharmacy Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Palopo educates the public to be aware of illegal and counterfeit medicines by disposing of Expired and Damaged Medicines Waste Correctly.

Abstract

The wound is defined as a breakdown of the epithelial integrity of the skin, which can be caused by sharp or blunt trauma, temperature changes, chemicals, explosions, electric shocks, or animal bites. Jatropha sap (Jatropha cuniculus L.) contains tannins and saponins that can stop bleeding, prevent infection, and play a role in wound healing. This study aims to determine whether the sap of Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) in the form of a gel can heal cuts and determine the concentration of jatropha sap in an effective gel formulation in healing cuts in experimental animals. The sap was collected and then formulated into a gel with concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25%. The results showed that the gel formula with a concentration of 15% Jatropha gum could heal wounds for 18 days, a 20% concentration could heal wounds for 17 days, and a 25% concentration could heal wounds for 14 days. At the same time, the gel base cures for 19 days. From the research, it can be concluded that Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) latex in the form of a gel can provide the best healing effect at a concentration of 25% with the fastest wound healing time of 14 days.

Abstract

Inventory control is a very important element in the management of pharmaceutical supplies. Inventory control at Hospital “X” in Palopo City is currently using the consumption method, which has the risk of running out of medicine (stock out). Methods that can minimize this risk are the ABC, EOQ, and ROP analysis methods. The research aims to group drug items into 3 ABC groups based on investment value, find out the optimal order quantity using the economic order quantity (EOQ) calculation, and determine the time to reorder drugs using the reorder point (ROP) calculation. This type of research is non-experimental and uses mixed methods; data collection is done retrospectively for quantitative data and directly for qualitative data. The results of the analysis of the ABC method of branded generic drug included in group A were 18 types (12%) with an investment value of 70.17% of the total investment value, group B, namely 22 types (14.67%) with an investment value of 20.38 % of the total investment value, and group C drugs, namely 110 types (73.33%) with an investment value of 9.46% of the total investment value. Based on the EOQ calculation analysis, the optimal number of orders for group A branded generic drugs varied between 683 and 34 units. The results of the calculation and analysis using the ROP method show that the reorder point for group A branded generic drugs varies between 234 and 7 for each drug unit.

Abstract

Smoking behavior is a lifestyle that affects blood pressure in a person suffering from hypertension. Cigarettes contain nicotine which can make a person dependent by stimulating dopamine in the brain and increasing the hormone adrenaline which triggers the heart to work harder so that it has an impact on high blood pressure or hypertension in the sufferer. This study aims to identify the relationship between smoking behavior and systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in communities in Kamanre District, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. This research is a quantitative study that uses a correlation analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 96 respondents. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The results of the study were analyzed using the chi-square test. Based on the chi-square test, there is a meaningful relationship between the number of cigarettes and blood pressure where (p value < 0.05) p = 0.016 for systolic blood pressure and p = 0.014 for diastolic blood pressure. The results of the chi-square test between cigarette type and blood pressure did not have a meaningful relationship p = 1,000 for systolic blood pressure and p = 0.294 for diastolic blood pressure. And the chi-square test results between smoking duration and systolic blood pressure there is a meaningful relationship p = 0.027 and diastolic blood pressure p = 1,000 there is no meaningful relationship.
