Abstract

Corruption has already become a part of culture in the society. Corruption happens in both government and private sector; the most concerning thing is the involvement of the head of institutions which supposed to be a role model for young generation. There are a lot of things have been done to decrease our corruption cases from law perspective, unfortunately a preventive attempt from education perspective has not much been applied. Anti-corruption education is a preventive effort to build self-awareness and integrity against corruptive behavior. The research objective was to obtain an overview of whether anti-corruption education could develop students’ sensitivity and concern for corruption issues. The research method used is action research through collective self-reflection which is integrated with the student-centered learning approach carried out in groups and is achieved through reflective critical action of group members as individuals whose learning outcomes are measured. There were 25 university students from 7 faculties participated in this research. The findings showed that students were able to identify corrupt actions based on personal and group experiences. Participants were also able to identify the impact of time corrupt behavior on individuals and institutions. In the reflection stage, participants reveal the values of integrity such as honesty, responsibility and consistency between attitudes and behavior, as well as religious values which believed to be a fortress against corrupt actions. The action research is followed up by making an action plan to become a person with an integrity and in managing anti-corruption student organizations.

Abstract

Abstract

The research addressed a psychological orientation of young people towards politics (Psychological Orientation towards Politics/POTP). It focused on three primary variables: Political Efficacy (PE), Political Interest (PI), and Political Knowledge (PK) in relation to gender identity (male and female), ethnicity (Tionghoa & non-Tionghoa), and educational background (socio-political science and non-socio-political science). As a young democratic country, Indonesia faced various challenges while pursuing robust democracy like another developed country. One big challenge faced by Indonesia was related to the awareness of political participation, the most central element for a democratic country where people must be aware that they have legitimate power. To overcome these challenges, investigation on variables related to psychological dimensions of humans was needed to start developing a behavioral map of political behavior in Indonesia, particularly concentrating on young people as the next generation of Indonesia democracy. Data were collected from the online panel. Results from descriptive statistics and linear regression models with three blocks have shown that these three variables have played an important role in determining POTP in young people. PK is the most affected variable compared to the other two variables. In conclusion, the identification of ethnicity (Tionghoa vs. non-Tionghoa) and educational background are possible factors that may affect the degree of POTP in the female group.

Abstract

Women naturally supposed to be able to conceive and give birth to children. This perception puts pressure on women who experience involuntary childlessness. Cultural factors are one of the factors that plays a role in shaping subjective well-being in women who experience involuntary childlessness from the Batak tribe. The pressure that is felt not only comes from herself, but also from her family, because of the strength of the Hagabeon value. The amount of pressure felt by the woman also had an impact on the evaluation of her life. This qualitative study uses a semi-structured interview technique to see the description of the subjective well-being of women who experience involuntary childlessness in a Batak family based on Diener's Subjective Well-Being theory. The results show that women with involuntary childlessness has a tendency to have less fine subjective well-being. The pressure due to the appreciation of the Hagabeon values, or the support provided by the family, is a factor that plays a role in the differences in the subjective well-being among the participants. In addition, physical and occupational health factors also play a role in the formation of a subjective well-being.

Abstract

As a large multiethnic country, Indonesia has limited studies regarding factors that may influence the national identity of Indonesians of Chinese descent. This study examined the relations between four variables—ethnic identity, multiculturalism, social distance, and Indonesian national identity—between Chinese (n = 159) and non-Chinese Indonesian university students (n = 158) in Jakarta. A multiple-group path analysis was conducted to analyze data from Chinese and non-Chinese samples. The results revealed that structural covariance invariance was the best fit, describing ethnic identity’s direct prediction of national identity and social distance’s indirect prediction of national identity, fully mediated by multiculturalism. The mean score comparisons showed that both groups exhibited higher national identity than ethnic identity. A context of living in a global urban-metropolitan city may influence identity formation.

Abstract

Work is essential for fulfilling life's needs, including for physically disabled individuals. These individuals have significant opportunities in the workforce, supported by government initiatives aimed at enabling their employment. Despite this support, their participation remains low due to internal and external factors. Internal factors include a low self-concept, while external factors involve a work environment that is not accommodating to people with disabilities. This research aims to provide an overview of self-concept and the factors influencing the self-concept of physically disabled individuals working in government companies. A qualitative approach with narrative methods was used, involving semi-structured interviews conducted twice. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the data. The results indicated that all three participants had a positive self-concept. They accepted their life conditions and maintained realistic expectations based on their abilities. Influential factors shaping their self-concept included support from parents and friends. Additionally, age differences were found to be a differentiating factor.

Abstract

The continuous workload and emotional burden experienced by oncology nurses at Hospital X can lead to compassion fatigue as a side effect of their work. The impacts include demotivation, low quality of care, and even risks to patient safety. This study aimed to examine the resilience process from compassion fatigue experienced by oncology nurses using qualitative methods. The researcher conducted semi-structured interviews with three nurses with different lengths of experience as oncology nurses. The results of this study showed that all three participants had achieved resilient reintegration with different ways to process it. The emotional burden due to the holistic issues of patients and their families and the complexity of care were the primary factors contributing to compassion fatigue. The research findings can be used to design preventive and remedial efforts to improve nurses' emotional and psychosocial well-being.
