Abstract

Abstract The success of the national education system can be seen from the performance of teachers. Teacher performance is expected to boost the quality and relevance of education, in its implementation depends on many factors that influence it and interrelated, such factors competence, motivation and discipline. This research is aimed to analyze the effect simultaneously (together) or partially (individually) between teacher professional competence, work motivation, and work discipline on teacher performance. The method used in this research is quantitative with the type of explanatory research and a sample of 120 teachers taken using proportional random sampling techniques. The results showed the teacher's professional competence, work motivation, and work discipline simultaneously had effect on teacher performance. Teacher professional competence has effect on teacher performance. Work motivation has effect on teacher performance. Work discipline has effect on teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aimed at examining the opportunities for adapting the passion scale to Japanese literature students who carried out the online learning process in Indonesia. This study used quantitative covariance structure design as the application of item response theory. From a sample of 148 undergraduate students, originally from three different courses. Data were obtained by filling out a virtual questionnaire which adapted from the original Dual Model Passion scale. Since this scale had been developed abroad, the data were analysed quantitatively using confirmatory factor analysis and regression, this study replicated the similar analysis while examined passion by using five criteria such as time, like, value, passion, identity as used in the previous development process. In addition, the criteria for student characteristics (gender and age) and conditions (first year vs. advanced year) in attending online lectures by observing the relationship between the two main dimensions of passion). The results showed that first year students tend to have a higher harmonious passion (HP), while second year students had a higher obsessive passion (OP). In conclusion, several things needed to be considered by researchers and lecturers at tertiary institutions such as course and student characteristics, so that students' passion remained good even though they had to study online during the outbreak of the Covid-19.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This was a preliminary study to explore the constructs on active instruction as perceived by Indonesian teachers at junior secondary schools in order having an appropriate measure for teaching. Secondary data, picked up from MGPBE under the sponsorship of European Union, were used. There were two steps of sampling process. Firstly, picking up by chance 917 participating teachers originated from seven provinces such as East Nusatenggara, West Nusatenggara, Central Java, West Java, South Celebes, South Borneo. Secondly, 207 teachers were randomly selected from the same provinces. Using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed eight factors namely training benefit, instruction plan, process of active instruction, teacher professional satisfaction, media use, instruction evaluation, classroom situation, and school climate. This study concluded that all the factors were statistically valid and reliable, ready to be used for wider range of districts in this country.

Abstract

This paper discusses the validity and reliability of a measuring tool that reflects active learning in elementary schools, which is called the Active-Learning-in-Primary-School Scale (SPASD). The research was quantitative, which adheres to the idea of item-response-theory. The data used was secondary that was obtained from the Managing-Good-Practice-for-Basic-Education program, which was collected under the sponsorship of the European Commission based on five different provinces in Indonesia using a questionnaire developed under the coordination of UNICEF even though it has not been statistically validated. The sample of 1021 primary school teachers met the requirements for analysis. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis proves that there are several constructs. Seven valid dimensions were found namely training utilization, teaching planning, learning process, and evaluation, use of media, teacher professional satisfaction, and classroom climate. Some items were removed because they were not valid, even though all the hypothesized constructs remained valid and reliable. In conclusion, the tested scale was valid and reliable with a slight modification of the structure. It is recommended that the application of the constructs should be re-confirmed if it is applied in the context of different places, cultures, and school conditions.

Abstract

Abstract

The 21st century and revolution 4.0 have demanded students to be able to master high-level thinking skills (HOTS) and be able to take advantage of increasingly modern technology. This study aimed to discover the effects of digital literacy, creative thinking, and critical thinking on the problem-solving abilities of elementary school students in West Jakarta. Data collection was carried out using a survey system and closed questionnaires. From a sample of 117 students picked up from five clusters randomly of Dian Harapan Daan Mogot School representing primary schools in West Jakarta. Data analysis was a quantitative approach using regression. The results of the study show that digital literacy has a positive effect on the ability to solve problems. Digital literacy has a positive effect on checking information. Digital literacy skills do not have a positive effect on justification. Creative thinking has a positive effect on checking information. Creative thinking does not positively affect justification. Creative thinking has a positive effect on the ability to solve problems. Critical thinking positively affects the ability to solve problems.

Abstract

Mathematics lessons playing important roles in problem-solving skills. Problem-solving skills can be measured from students' mastery of concepts which is the result of learning activities to understand objects through observation and experience. This research aimed to prove the influence of using the Magic Cards educational game media, learning motivation, self-confidence, and the interaction between learning motivation and self-confidence on mastery of concepts in Mathematics. Data collection was carried out by using written tests and questionnaires. The cluster random sampling was used to obtain the research subjects. The samples of this study were two learning groups consisted of 61 grade II primary pupils in VLD, East Jakarta. This study applied two sorts of design, namely experimental and correlational with a quantitative approach. The data analysis in this research is descriptive and inferential - using multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that the use of the Magic Cards as an educational game media had positive effects on concept mastery. Learning motivation and self-confidence also had positive effects on concept mastery. However, no interaction effects between learning motivation and self-confidence on concept mastery in Mathematics learning for grade II pupils of private primary schools in East Jakarta.
