Performance Analysis Of Cilembu Sweet Burning Using Oven Fuel Based Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Ahmad Thoriq; Asri Widyasanti

Abstract

Cilembu sweet potato are a commodity typical of West Java's Sumedang district which will produce tasty, sweet, legit flavors and honey when burning using an oven. The conversion program of fuel oil to gas indirectly encourages modification of the cilembu sweet potato oven. The aim of this research is to test the performance of gas-fired ovens and observe the characteristics of cilembu during burning. Cilembu sweet potato burning in this study are cilembu sweet potatoes which have been stored for more than ten days, with grade B sizes (100-200 grams / tuber) and grade C (<100 grams per tuber) (SNI Number 01-4493-1998) . The burning performance parameters analyzed included the yield and weight of burned Cilembu sweet potatoes, energy to heat and increase the temperature of the material, energy to vaporize water, energy requirements for cilembu sweet potato burning process, LPG combustion energy, grill efficiency and specific energy consumption. The results showed that the burning process of 10.5 kg cilembu sweet potatoes using an oven with a temperature of 39 0C to 176 0C took 1.22 hours. The average decrease in water content during the burning process is 0.566% bb per minute for grade C and 0.368% bb per minute for grade B with the yield of burned cilembu sweet potato produced at 77.38%. Energy requirements for the cilembu sweet potato burning process were 9,410.68 KJ, LPG combustion energy was 177,050.78 KJ, burning efficiency was 5.32% and Specific Energy Consumption was 44.034,82 KJ / Kg of water vapor.

Abstract

Sukasari in Sumedang areas is one of the areas producing mole tobacco with the best quality with a production capacity of 1.2 tons.ha-1 once harvested. However, the tobacco chopping system has been still conventional which results in the inhibition of tobacco supply from producers (farmers) to consumers. The tool used was to use a knife to slice rolled tobacco with a chopping capacity of 35 kg per 2 worker per day. So the time was need to chopped 1.2 tons of tobacco in 35 days. Besides to long processing time, farmers often feels of back pain sick and right hand cramps, considering the average age of farmers have been above 50 years because the chopping process is carried out every day when the harvest season arrives. Therefore, a study need regarding the engginering design and technical analysis of tobacco chopper machines so that the chopping capacity can the production capacity of 1.2 tons.ha-1. The aims of study is to design a prototype tobacco chopper machine with a capacity of 140 kg.hour-1. This method used in this research is engineering design which is to carry out a design activity that is not routine, so that in it there is a new contribution, both in form and product.  The result of the technical analysis of this tobacco chopper machine is that the chopping power is 0.59 HP, the dimensions of the chopper machine are 800 mm (length) x 757 mm (width) x 1000 mm (height) with the prime mover using a 1 HP electric motor. Actual capacity based on measurement is 66 kg/hour with 96.7% yield. Keywords: chopper machine, engine design, mole tobacco

Abstract

Diversifikasi biji jagung menjadi makanan yang memiliki nilai jual tinggi di Kecamatan Cimanggung dilakukan melalui produksi emping jagung.  Namun perlu dilakukan analisis ekonomi dan nilai tambah untuk keberlanjutan usaha. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini analisis ekonomi yang meliputi biaya produksi, harga pokok produksi, titik impas dan  kelayakan usaha yang meliputi Net Present value (NPV),  benefit cost ratio analysis (BC Rasio), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) dan payback period analysis (PBP) serta analisis nilai tambah. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan pengelola usaha emping jagung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan harga pokok produksi emping jagung siap konsumsi adalah adalah Rp. Rp.17.337 perkg., dengan titik impas produksi 1.606 kg pertahun, BC rasio sebesar 1,99, NPV sebesar Rp.621.028.931 pertahun IRR sebesar 79,38%, PBP selama  2 bulan, nilai tambah sebesar Rp.16.130 per kg dengan rasio 65,29 persen dan keuntungan Rp. 13.081 per kg. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa usaha pengolahan emping jagung siap konsumsi layak.

Abstract

Petani manggis sebagian besar melakukan proses pemanenan dengan cara manual dan masih sangat sederhana, yaitu memetik buah yang masih terjangkau dengan tangan, sedangkan yang tidak terjangkau (jauh) pemanenannya dilakukan menggunakan galah yang terbuat dari bambu. Alat panen bambu masih sederhana dan memiliki beberapa kelemahan yaitu pengarah buah tidak dapat diatur sesuai dengan ukuran buah manggis, galah terlalu panjang dan membutuhkan ruang yang cukup besar, sehingga perlu di rancang alat pemanen manggis dengan kontruksi ringan, tahan lama dan kokoh serta berbentuk teleskopik. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode rancangan teknik yang terdiri dari indentifikasi masalah, perumusan masalah dan penyempurnaan konsep desain, analisis desain, gambar eknik, pembuatan alat dan uji kinerja. Alat panen manggis hasil rancangan terbuat dari alumunium berbentuk teleskopik dengan panjang galah 3 meter. Hasil dari pengujian menunjukkan kapasitas kerja alaat panen hasil rancangan sebesae 23,74 kg/jam.
