Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis makna denotatif dan makna konotatif yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu pada album The Greatest Showman. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis kualitatif deskriptif sebagai prosedur untuk melakukan penelitian. Penulis menemukan 27 lirik yang mengandung makna denotatif dan makna konotatif dalam sembilan lagu pada album The Greatest Showman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kata, frasa, atau kalimat dalam lirik lagu dalam album The Greatest Showman mengandung makna denotatif dan konotatif. Makna denotatif menunjukkan makna “kamus”. Makna konotatif menunjukkan makna tersirat yang mana menginterpretasikan berdasarkan konteks dalam semua lirik dalam lagu tersebut. Pesan umum dari seluruh lagu The Greatest Showman adalah memberi toleransi dan pantang menyerah untuk mencapai impian kita, menjadi diri kita sendiri, tidak takut untuk menjadi berbeda dan tidak peduli yang orang lain pikirkan atas impian kita Kata kunci : Denotasi, konotasi, analisis, snowman album Abstract-The purpose of this research is to analyze of the denotative and connotative meaning that are contained in the song lyrics of the greatest showman album this study uses descriptive qualitative analysis as a procedure for conducting research. The writer finds 10 lyrics that contain the denotative and connotative meaning in the nine songs of the greatest showman album. The results show that the word, phrases or sentences in the lyric song of the greatest showman album included denotative and connotative meaning. The denotative meaning shows the “dictionary” meaning. The connotative meaning shows the implied meaning that is interpreted based on the context of all lyrics in the songs. The general messages from the whole of the songs in the greatest showman are giving tolerance, not giving up on our dream, being ourself, not being afraid to be different, and not caring what others think of our dream. Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to introduce Schoology as a digital classroom platform to improve the quality of educators in teaching. This activity involved two lecturers and one student from Indraprasta University PGRI. The target participants of this community service activity are junior high school educators Yayasan Wanita Kereta Api II Jakarta. This activity was attended by 11 teachers of SMP YWKA 2 Pulogadung, East Jakarta. The approach used is Andragogy. Andragogy as the art and science of helping students (adults) to learn, the science and arts of helping adults learn (Knowles, 1970). The practice and discussion methods used can help facilitate participants' understanding. This activity went smoothly without any significant obstacles.. Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di TK Islam Amar Ma’ruf yang berlokasi di Jl. Rambutan No.2 Rt.04/10, Kel. Baru, Kec. Pasar Rebo, Jakarta Timur untuk membagikan pengetahuan dan informasi mengenai penggunaan metode Jolly Phonics dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris di pendidikan usia dini dan taman kanak-kanak. Kegiatan yang dilakukan selain memberikan penjelasan secara teoritikal dan praktikal mengenai metode Jolly Phonics juga di perdetail dengan memberikan penjelasan tentang bagaimana mengaplikasikan metode tersebut dengan tehnik yang sesuai dan variasi model pengajaran dari Jolly Phonics Method . Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan berupa pelatihan untuk para guru yang mengajar di TK Islam Amar Ma’ruf Pasar Rebo, Jakarta Timur. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan yaitu Community Language Learning yang mana saling berbagi informasi layaknya seperti konsultan dan klien. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini dilakukan selama bulan Maret-Juli 2019. Hasil dari kegiatan abdimas para guru dapat menerapkan metode jolly Phonic pada pengajaran di Taman kanak kanak Al Ma ruf. dan dapat  membuat booklet yang diberikan kepada para guru untuk dapat digunakan dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan metode Jolly Phonics.

Abstract

This research is aimed at analyzing univeristy students’ errors in using Passive Voice. Specifically, it is aimed for obtaining and identifying the common error in using passive voice and finding out what factors which trigger the students make such errors. The data sources of this research were 38 students of fifth semester university students of in South Jakarta which were taken by random sampling. The researcher used the descriptive analysis method in this research to describe students’ errors and analyzed the data by using formula: P = The data were taken from the test. The findings showed that there are 229 errors made by students. The common error made by students in using Passive Voice was Misformation, which consists of 152 errors or 66.3%. According to Brown’s theory, it was interpreted that, intralingual transfer, interlingual transfer, context of learning and communicative strategies are causes of those errors.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of social criticism in the documentary film Netflix: Miss Americana (2020) by using John Fiske's Semiotic analysis technique. Based on the research finding, the writer concludes that there are social criticism representations in documentary film Netflix: Miss Americana seen from media interviews and entertainment reality shows. Through the whole interviews and arguments, Taylor Swift explained in the movies that she needs to be on the right side of history especially through political views. She also mentioned in Miss Americana that she doesn’t want any other else’s input about her body and others' criticism to impact her life anymore. Furthermore, this documentary film also says that speaking up against what isn't right is a necessity, especially if we are young and we are a woman. "Miss Americana" offers an effective backstage look at Taylor Swift that works best when the megastar opens up about her life
