Abstract

Misoprostol is licensed to treat gastric ulcers but now it is widely used for a variety of indications in osbtetrics and gynecology. This is called ‘off-label’ use. Misoprostol is cheap, stable at room temperature and easily to access it. Available in tablet form, it can be administred vaginally, rectally, sublingually and bucally. This review explains benefit and risk of misoprostol in obstetric and gynecology field.

Abstract

Background: Psychotic disorder becomes a mental health problem recently that reduce quality of life of the patient. As the matter of fact, psychotic treatment induce another problem such as extrapyramidal symtomps (EPS). Trihexyphenidyl is the first choice as conjuctive treatment to prevent EPS. Objective: To determine the description and characteristics of trihexyphenidyl utilization on patient with psychotic who receive antipsychotic therapy at Ghrasia Hospital Yogyakarta. Methods: This study is a non-experimental descriptive with cross sectional design with the secondary data obtained from the medical record of patients with psychotics on January 2014 – January 2015 to perceive the utilization of trihexyphenidyl on patient who receive antipsychotic therapy at Ghrasia hospital. The sample is determined by Slovin formula, the data is analyzed with univariat analysis technic. Results: The majority of psychotic patients at the Ghrasia Hospital are about 25-40 years old (61,7%). It describes that the pattern of the psychotic disorder most likely happening at middle age, which 98 patients are male (63,6%). The combination of two antipsychotics becomes the most used regiment at Grhasia, 113 patients (73,4%) receive the combination of two antipsychotics theraphy, 39 patients (25,3%) receive single antipsychotic therapy and 2 patients (1,3%) receive the combination of three antipsychotics. 136 patients (88,3%) receive trihexyphenidyl twice a day on undefined skizophrenia 65 patients (42,2%) and 18 patients (11,7%) once a day. 149 patiens (96,8) are not examined before THP is given before the initiaton of the theraphy. Conclusion: Administration trihexiphenidyl as adjunctive therapy is given to the psychotic patients twice a day and most of them are not initiated by the examination of syndrome extrapyramidal.

Abstract

Drug abuse (Narcotics, psychotropics, and addictives) as social illness is harmful to various aspects of human life such as health, education, security, and social economy, and this is a serious threat to Indonesia as a big nation. Drug abuse has strong relationship with str ss triggered by stressor. Some researches report that to prevent stress, social support is one of important sources applied beside constitution, intelligence, financial resources, faith and religion, hobbies and aspirations. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between social support and stress among drug abuse inmates in Yogyakarta Narcotics Penitentiary. We used descriptive analysis with cross sectional method. This correlational study was conducted in Yogyakarta Narcotics Penitentiary with 52 subjects using stress scale and Social Support Questionnaire. Analysis on correlation using Kendall Tau formula. 51,9% of total respondent had medium stress level and 57,7% had very high social support level. Statistical test found significant relationship between stress with social support ( P-value = 0.002, t = -0 .328) and duration of drug abuse (P-value = 0.015, t = 0.312). There is significant relationship between social support and stress among drug abuse inmates in Yogyakarta Narcotics Penitentiary.

Abstract

Interprofessional education (IPE) is a learning method that allows the clinical clerkship to study together, exchange knowledge, and develop the skill that is needed in interprofessional collaborative work practice. This article analyzed the elements within IPE including background, operational definition, goals and benefits, implementation, as well as competency in IPE. Furthermore, the role of IPE for medical students especially in pharmacology subject was discussed. In summary, interprofessional collaboration (IPC) is needed to answer the high demand and complexity of patient problems in minimizing medication errors due to low IPC. The IPE is an early step towards realizing IPC where each profession can understand each other’s roles and responsibilities to achieve comprehensive patient health.

Abstract

In 2017, one billion people contracted fungal infection with 11.5 million people contracted life-threatening infection and 1.5 million death per year. Orchid is a plant that grows in tropical and sub-tropical countries, the same places where fungal infection occurrence is high. On previous studies reported that orchid contains alkaloids and polyphenols such as flavonoid, and phenol acid. The review aimed to identify the orchid as a potential antifungal resource. A scoping review was used. The type of articles reviewed were original articles obtained from five electronic journal databases published within 2012-2021. Three articles reported similar result which was that orchid extract has a significant antifungal activity although the part of plant used was different, ranging from the root, to the leaf. Two articles reported a specific antifungal activity against Candida albicans while the remaining one against Trichophyton rubrum. In conclusion, the root, leaf, branch, and flower extracts of orchid is potential antifungal resources.
