Abstract

Abstract. The aim of the study was to get deeply the implementation intercultural approach in Japanese speaking learning activities at senior high school. The research method is qualitative using direct observation. While the process of collecting data used documentation, video record, field note, the interview is appropriate with the research setting. The result of research found that Japanese speaking activities inside and outside the classroomhave some components, namely learning method implementation, the role of teacher and students, the role of native speaker teacher, and the material of learning. It has combined the linguistics aspect and culture to increase students’ comprehension of Japanese language and culture. Keywords: Intercultural Approach, Japanese Speaking, Learning Activities

Abstract

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk merangkumkan masalah-masalah sosial budaya masyarakat Jepang yang dapat memicu perselingkuhan dalam suatu keluarga. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif yang didasarkan pada dua alasan yaitu permasalahan yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini yaitu tentang pemicu perselingkuhan istri serta kaitannya dengan sosial budaya Jepang. Kemudian penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan ekstrinsik, yaitu pandangan dan penilaian peneliti dari kacamata netral. Objek penelitian ini adalah transkrip subtitle dan adegan dalam film Jepang “Red” yang berpusat pada tokoh utama wanita, Toko.Data yang dikumpulkan merupakan dialog dan adegan yang mengandung konteks penyebab perselingkuhan dan hubungannya dengan patriarki dalam keluarga Jepang.Berdasarkan analisis data, penyebab karakter Toko Sugiri melakukan perselingkuhan dengan Kurata dalam film Red didominasi oleh alasan psikologis. Alasan psikologis tersebut antara lain adanya masalah kepribadian, tekanan, dan kebutuhan. Penyebab seorang wanita Jepang yang berstatus istri melakukan perselingkuhan dipengaruhi oleh sistem patriarki yang tertanam dalam sistem keluarga Jepang, terutama sistem ie dimana kedudukan wanita hanya berfokus pada pekerjaan domestik dan melayani suami. Hal itu sangat menekan wanita Jepang. Ketidakbebasan inilah yang membuat wanita Jepang mencari hubungan di luar pernikahan yang bisa melepaskan mereka dari belenggu sistem ini.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the needs of beginner-level reading teaching materials in Japanese Language Education Department of UNJ based on the demands of 21st century skills. This is important to do considering reading teaching materials that currently used are focused on achieving language competency-based learning only. Along with technological developments, especially during the current pandemic, requires researchers in the field of language education to take part in developing other skills outside of language itself. There are four skills that must be mastered by a learner facing the 21st century, known as 4Cs, namely Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration (Bialik, Trilling, & Groff, 2015). In order to achieve these goals, various learning components are required, such as instructional methods, teaching materials, and so on. This study focuses on the development of beginner-level Japanese reading materials that can support building these four skills. This need analysis research is conducted as the initial step of the development research method in determining information about the needs of beginner-level reading teaching materials that support the fulfillment of 21st century skill demands. The data collection technique was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents and interviewing analyzing currently used reading material. The results of the questionnaire survey show that 94.75% of respondents need teaching materials that be able to train 21st century skills especially the metacognitive skill, critical thinking, and digital literacy. Moreover, 91% of respondents need contextual learning process that emphasize the process of inquiry and self-reflection. And from the reading material analysis, it is known that the current teaching materials are focused on basic literacy skills only.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of "Nobinobi Yomikaki" teaching materials developed as teaching materials for beginner level reading and writing courses towards the formation of 21st century skills in elementary level students. This is based on the needs for reading and writing teaching materials for first semester students, especially students who have never studied Japanese at all. Efforts to form 21st century skills are the focus as well as the basis for developing teaching materials because the demands of students to be able to survive and perform in the digital world, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, realize how important non-technical skills are as technical skills. The research method uses a mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative approach was used to measure reading speed, which is a basic literacy skill, while the qualitative approach was used to describe the results of observations of how the use of this teaching material on the formation of 21st century skills. The research population is the 2022 batch of students in the Japanese Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, with a sample of 24 people, namely students who have never studied Japanese at all. Based on the study, it is known that the structure of teaching materials supports the development of 21st century skills, namely the ability to think critically, creatively, communicatively, collaboratively, and succeeds in fostering positive character so that in this digital era students are ready to become part of global citizens or digital citizens. And as the impact of these skills development, through the activities that force students to communicate their ideas both orally and in writing, their Japanese reading and writing skills also improved.

Abstract

This study aims to collect the information needed to find a form of teaching material that fits the needs of students and the demands of a new 21st-century skill-based curriculum in writing courses at the basic secondary level (Sakubun II). The research method used is R&D with a mixed approach. These qualitative and quantitative approaches aim to describe the needs of students, lecturers, and study programs for writing teaching materials following the 21st-century curriculum. Data collection techniques were carried out in three ways: reviewing documents, questionnaires, and observation. The results showed that the Japanese Language Education Study Program FBS UNJ needed teaching materials focused on achieving writing skills and could also motivate students to have ideas and be creative in writing easily. Regarding the structure of teaching materials, various teaching materials are needed to encourage students to write in digital literacy discourse. From the questionnaire results, three needs were found at the top level, namely the need for teaching materials that focus on critical thinking skills, creativity, and basic literacy, so the portion of activities that can accommodate these needs must be enlarged.

Abstract

This research focused on morphological interference in Jakarta State University student‟s composition. This research aimed to analyze the type of morphological interference in composition and its effect to the student‟s composition. Student‟s composition were taken from two composition classes of first year Japanese Language major student on their second term. The type of morphological interference that analyzed in this research are divided into three types: Function of morphemes and likelihood of transfer, Replica functions of equivalent morphemes, and Abandonment of obligatory distinction. Meanwhile, the effect of morphological interference are Less Production, Added Production, Wrong Production, and Wrong interpretation.
