Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the Active Knowledge Sharing strategy through a scientific approach in the Dokkai. In learning Japanese, learners often encountered difficulties in reading comprehension or Dokkai. Based on a questionnaire, the difficulties including reading kanji, followed by vocabulary competence and grammar competence. On the other hand, the time limitation in class cause problems of learning method which teacher rarely provide an introduction step to students in the form of questions or vocabulary exercises related to the reading material they will deal with. To overcome this problem, we need a learning strategy that emphasize the cooperative learning among students to achieve the objective of comprehending a reading. We chose the strategy initiated by Silberman (2013), namely Active Knowledge Sharing, as a good way to introduce students to the subject matter that will be learned. In addition, by monitoring how students solving each other's problems in team, teacher can evaluate how much knowledge they have. In this study a scientific approach is complemented to support the active learning in this strategy. The study conducted using an experimental method with pretest and posttest design. The sample are 38 students of fifth semester students who take Dokkai III course. Based on the analysis of research data, it found that the Active Knowledge Sharing strategy through a scientific approach is effective in  learning Dokkai III. The advantages are that students who are initially passive become actively participate in learning and students can also answer the meaning of vocabulary without depending on dictionary or smartphones, and students are encouraged to help each other in solving problems which help students to comprehend the contents of reading easier and faster. However there are the disadvantages of this strategy such as inability to enhance student’s critical thinking and less suitable for students who are more focused if studying alone.

Abstract

Makalah ini ditulis dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media meme dalam pembelajaran Nihonshi. Pembelajaran Nihonshi yang membutuhkan inovasi baru dalam pembelajaran dikarenakan kurangnya kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengolah media belajar yang kemudian membuat mahasiswa kesulitan dalam mengingat materi sehingga penulis memutuskan untuk melakukan penelitian penggunaan meme sebagai media pendukung dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan sampel dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang mengikuti mata kuliah Nihonshi di semester 113 sebanyak 21 orang dan menggunakan metode observasi langsung di dalam perkuliahan dan melalui pre-test dan post-test selama lima pertemuan. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner sebagai langkah penelitian awal diketahui bahwa media meme dalam pembelajaran merupakan hal baru yang lumayan disukai oleh para mahasiswa yang notabene masih remaja. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa 71.9% dari seluruh mahasiswa setuju bahwa 19 meme yang digunakan cocok sebagai media pembelajaran. Dari hasil pre-test dan post-test juga terlihat peningkatan skor rerata mahasiswa dari 30.6% menjadi 37.4% setelah menggunakan media pendukung meme.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the needs of beginner-level reading teaching materials in Japanese Language Education Department of UNJ based on the demands of 21st century skills. This is important to do considering reading teaching materials that currently used are focused on achieving language competency-based learning only. Along with technological developments, especially during the current pandemic, requires researchers in the field of language education to take part in developing other skills outside of language itself. There are four skills that must be mastered by a learner facing the 21st century, known as 4Cs, namely Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration (Bialik, Trilling, & Groff, 2015). In order to achieve these goals, various learning components are required, such as instructional methods, teaching materials, and so on. This study focuses on the development of beginner-level Japanese reading materials that can support building these four skills. This need analysis research is conducted as the initial step of the development research method in determining information about the needs of beginner-level reading teaching materials that support the fulfillment of 21st century skill demands. The data collection technique was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents and interviewing analyzing currently used reading material. The results of the questionnaire survey show that 94.75% of respondents need teaching materials that be able to train 21st century skills especially the metacognitive skill, critical thinking, and digital literacy. Moreover, 91% of respondents need contextual learning process that emphasize the process of inquiry and self-reflection. And from the reading material analysis, it is known that the current teaching materials are focused on basic literacy skills only.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas media alternatif dalam pembelajaran Bunpou. Peran pendidikan guna mengurangi transmisi wabah Covid-19 yang terjadi di seluruh dunia termasuk Indonesia salah satunya ialah dengan menggantikan pembelajaran tatap muka dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ). Namun dalam pelaksanaannya masih banyak ditemukan kendala yang terjadi. Survei pra penelitian yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang, Universitas Negeri Jakarta menyatakan bahwa mengalami kendala pada pembelajaran bunpou yang disebabkan oleh; jaringan internet yang buruk dan keterbatasan kuota pada saat video konferensi berlangsung; kondisi rumah yang tidak mendukung pembelajaran melalui video konferensi; kurang optimalnya proses pemberian dan penerimaan materi perkuliahan; materi pada buku cetak tidak dapat menjadi bahan ajar mandiri. Nojima (2006) membagi e-learning ke dalam dua kategori, asynchronous dan synchronous e-learning. Asynchronous E-learning disampaikan melalui internet dengan bentuk penyampaian materi yang bersifat on demand atau sesuai permintaan. Sedangkan, pembelajaran yang sudah diterapkan dikenal dengan synchronous e-learning merupakan pembelajaran yang dilengkapi dengan satelit komunikasi dan video konferensi. Dalam mengatasi kendala yang terjadi pada pembelajaran digital sinkron dapat digunakan alternatif pembelajaran asinkron. Dalam hal ini, media pembelajaran berbasis website JTEST4YOU merupakan variabel yang akan diteliti berdasarkan kategori yang paling banyak digunakan oleh informan. Guna mengetahui kualitas dan kelebihan JTEST4YOU sebagai media pendukung pembelajaran digital bunpou, sebuah survei online didistribusikan kepada mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Survei tersebut terdiri dari kuisioner dan wawancara, serta menggunakan metode non probability sampling dengan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa JTEST4YOU kapabel untuk dijadikan media pendukung pembelajaran bunpou berdasarkan analisis usability, information, dan service interaction. Kemudahan untuk mengakses kapanpun dan di manapun dengan biaya internet terjangkau; Memiliki tampilan penyajian materi yang sederhana; Materi yang disajikan relevan dengan materi perkuliahan; Memiliki contoh kalimat terbaharui yang memotivasi mahasiswa untuk memahami materi lebih dalam; Tersedianya fitur latihan soal guna mengevaluasi pemahaman mahasiswa merupakan kelebihan JTEST4YOU.

Abstract

Abstract Restrictions on activities outside home due to the prolonged pandemic period provided a monotonous atmosphere, not only among housewives but also teenagers. With the government's policy that provides leeway for the community to return activ outside while still prioritizing health protocols seems like a fresh air to find and start their social interactions again. This community service activity aims to introduce one of Japanese culture, namely the art of paper folding or better known as origami. Based on the preliminary survey conducted, it is known that most of the enthusiasts are housewives and teenagers who want to spend their spare time with useful and fun activities. This activity is in the form of intensive training directly guided by an instructor who has experience and has a business in the field of creating the art of folding both paper and cloth. Therefore, the committee limited the training participants to only twenty people, and all of them were domiciled in the Malaka Sari Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta. The training was conducted offline on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Balai RW 02, Malaka Sari Village. In accordance with the participant's request in the preliminary survey response, the creations made were bookmarks and wall decorations with the theme "Washi Ningyou" or dolls with Japanese paper. And from the results of the questionnaire distributed after the activity, all participants felt satisfied and this activity was useful. Suggestions from participants include extended training time and tutorial video is requested to ease them to recreate ones back at home. Therefore, through the WhatsApp Group, the committee has also distributed a simple tutorial video which made originally by the instructor herself, Miss Siti Nurma Guvita Sari Sri Purnami Wulan, S.Pd. , so it can be said that the whole series of this community service activities is original. Abstrak Pembatasan berkegiatan di luar rumah akibat masa pandemi yang berkepanjangan memberikan atmosfer yang monoton, tidak hanya di kalangan ibu rumah tangga tapi juga para remaja. Dengan adanya kelonggaran untuk beraktivitas dengan tetap mengedepankan protokol kesehatan, masyarakat seakan mendapat angin segar untuk menemukan dan memulai lagi interaksi sosialnya. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan salah satu budaya Jepang yaitu seni melipat kertas atau yang lebih dikenal dengan istilah origami. Berdasarkan survei pendahuluan yang dilakukan diketahui bahwa sebagian besar peminat berasal dari kalangan ibu rumah tangga dan remaja yang ingin mengisi waktu luangnya untuk kegiatan bermanfaat sekaligus menyenangkan. Kegiatan ini berupa pelatihan yang secara intensif langsung dipandu oleh seorang instruktur yang telah berpengalaman dan memiliki usaha di bidang kreasi seni melipat baik kertas, maupun kain. Oleh karena itu agar pelatihan berjalan kondusif panitia membatasi peserta pelatihan hanya dua puluh orang saja, dan semuanya berdomisili di lingkungan Kelurahan Malaka Sari, Kecamatan Duren Sawit, Jakarta Timur. Pelatihan dilakukan secara luring pada hari Minggu, tanggal 7 Agustus 2022 bertempat di Balai RW 02 Kelurahan Malaka Sari. Sesuai dengan permintaan peserta pada respon survei pendahuluan maka kreasi yang dibuat adalah pembatas buku dan hiasan dinding dengan tema “Washi Ningyou” atau boneka dengan kertas Jepang. Dan dari hasil angket yang disebar pasca kegiatan seluruh peserta merasa puas dan kegiatan ini bermanfaat. Saran dari peserta diantaranya waktu pelatihan yang diperpanjang dan diperlukan tutorial agar mudah membuat kembali di rumah. Oleh karena itu melalui WhatsApp Group panitia telah membagikan pula video tutorial yang mudah diikuti setelah kegiatan berlangsung. Video yang dibuat merupakan video asli buatan instruktur yaitu Sdri. Siti Nurma Guvita Sari Sri Purnami Wulan, S.Pd. , sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa seluruh rangkaian kegiatan PkM ini orisinil.

Abstract

Kemampuan abad ke-21 merupakan hal wajib yang harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa dewasa ini. Nadiem Makarim memaparkan bahwa kemampuan abad ke- 21 adalah (1) kreativitas dan inovasi, (2) berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah, (3) komunikasi, (4) kolaborasi, (5) pemikiran komputasi, dan (6) kasih sayang. Project Based Learning (PjBL) diasumsikan mampu mengasah kemampuan abad ke-21 pada mahasiswa. Metode ini tepat diterapkan pada mata kuliah penerjemahan karena bukan hanya kompetensi berbahasa yang harus dimiliki oleh penerjemah, namun juga kemampuan untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan penerjemahan beserta menerapkan strategi untuk mengatasinya. Kedua kompetensi ini dapat diasah melalui penerapan metode PjBL Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan PjBL dalam mengasah kemampuan abad ke-21 mahasiswa Program Studi Sastra Jepang STBA JIA. Tahapan penerapan PjBL pada penelitian ini mengacu kepada tahapan PjBL yang dikembangkan oleh The George Lucas Education foundation dan Doplet. Indikator kemampuan abad ke-21 yang digunakan adalah indikator yang dipaparkan oleh Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) Framework. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa PjBL pada mata kuliah penerjemahan di STBA JIA dapat mengasah kemampuan abad ke-21 khususnya berpikir kritis, memecahkan masalah, berkomunikasi, dan berkolaborasi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of "Nobinobi Yomikaki" teaching materials developed as teaching materials for beginner level reading and writing courses towards the formation of 21st century skills in elementary level students. This is based on the needs for reading and writing teaching materials for first semester students, especially students who have never studied Japanese at all. Efforts to form 21st century skills are the focus as well as the basis for developing teaching materials because the demands of students to be able to survive and perform in the digital world, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, realize how important non-technical skills are as technical skills. The research method uses a mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative approach was used to measure reading speed, which is a basic literacy skill, while the qualitative approach was used to describe the results of observations of how the use of this teaching material on the formation of 21st century skills. The research population is the 2022 batch of students in the Japanese Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, with a sample of 24 people, namely students who have never studied Japanese at all. Based on the study, it is known that the structure of teaching materials supports the development of 21st century skills, namely the ability to think critically, creatively, communicatively, collaboratively, and succeeds in fostering positive character so that in this digital era students are ready to become part of global citizens or digital citizens. And as the impact of these skills development, through the activities that force students to communicate their ideas both orally and in writing, their Japanese reading and writing skills also improved.

Abstract

This study aims to determine what forms of social problems exist in Tetsuya Nakashima's Kokuhaku film. These causal factors trigger these problems and how to solve the problem using a literary sociology approach. This study employs Wellek and Warren's sociological theory of literary works and Soekanto's theory of existence, sources, and techniques for solving social problems. This study employs a descriptive-analytic method and data gathering procedures gleaned from a literature review. According to the study's findings, there are 27 social problems in Tetsuya Nakashima's Kokuhaku film, including 15 data on societal norm violations in the form of child delinquency, eight difficulties with family disintegration, three crime problems, and one bureaucracy problem. In this video, two causes generate social problems: psychological factors and cultural aspects. Authoritarian measures solve the majority of the social problems in this film.

Abstract

This study aims to collect the information needed to find a form of teaching material that fits the needs of students and the demands of a new 21st-century skill-based curriculum in writing courses at the basic secondary level (Sakubun II). The research method used is R&D with a mixed approach. These qualitative and quantitative approaches aim to describe the needs of students, lecturers, and study programs for writing teaching materials following the 21st-century curriculum. Data collection techniques were carried out in three ways: reviewing documents, questionnaires, and observation. The results showed that the Japanese Language Education Study Program FBS UNJ needed teaching materials focused on achieving writing skills and could also motivate students to have ideas and be creative in writing easily. Regarding the structure of teaching materials, various teaching materials are needed to encourage students to write in digital literacy discourse. From the questionnaire results, three needs were found at the top level, namely the need for teaching materials that focus on critical thinking skills, creativity, and basic literacy, so the portion of activities that can accommodate these needs must be enlarged.

Abstract

Abstract This Community Service Activity (P2M) aims to provide basic Japanese language training to foreign workers in Japan. This activity was carried out as a form of contribution from Jakarta State University to international problems, especially in Japan as one of the countries on the Asian continent. As is known, Japan is currently one of the countries that employs many foreign workers. This is because demographically, Japan is a country with the highest hyperage in the world. Data shows that 21% of Japan's population are elderly people aged 65 years and over, and it is predicted that by 2050 the number of elderly people will reach 40%. This is a strong reason why Japan needs productive age workers from other countries. Apart from the benefits obtained by Japan, there are several problems that arise along with the increasing number of foreigner living and working in Japan. One of them is the problem of communication. The existence of a language wall or 'kotoba no kabe' between companies as users and foreign nationals as workers which of course greatly affects the company's performance. The targets of P2M are workers of Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian nationality. From the results of the preliminary survey, it is known that the Japanese language training needed is Japanese Language Proficiency Test level N3 and N4 training. The method used is training via the Zoom platform which is carried out once a week on Saturdays and Mondays for 2 months. At the end of the session, a JLPT simulation test was given in collaboration with the UNJ Language UPT, and it was found that 60% of participants passed the JLPT N4 and 20% of participants passed the JLPT N3. From the results of the post-preliminary survey, it was found that participants were satisfied and agreed if similar activities were held again in the coming year. In addition, it was found that 72.7% of participants had problems with the training time. This is because workers still work on Saturdays and Sundays, so solutions need to be considered in the implementation time in the future. Keywords: foreigners; kotoba no kabe; Japanese language training Abstrak Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (P2M) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan bahasa Jepang tingkat dasar kepada para pekerja asing di Jepang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan sebagai bentuk kontribusi Universitas Negeri Jakarta terhadap permasalahan di tingkat internasional, khususnya di Jepang sebagai salah satu negara di benua Asia. Seperti diketahui, saat ini Jepang merupakan salah satu negara yang banyak mempekerjakan tenaga kerja asing di negaranya. Hal ini dikarenakan secara demografis Jepang merupakan negara dengan hyperage tertinggi di dunia. Data menunjukkan bahwa 21% penduduk Jepang adalah lansia yang berusia 65 tahun ke atas, dan diprediksi pada tahun 2050 jumlah lansia akan mencapai 40%. Hal ini menjadi alasan kuat mengapa Jepang membutuhkan tenaga kerja usia produktif dari negara lain. Terlepas dari keuntungan yang diperoleh Jepang, ada beberapa kendala yang muncul seiring bertambahnya jumlah warga negara asing yang tinggal dan bekerja di Jepang. Salah satunya adalah masalah komunikasi. Adanya tembok bahasa atau 'kotoba no kabe' antara perusahaan sebagai pengguna dengan warga negara asing sebagai pekerja yang tentunya sangat mempengaruhi kinerja perusahaan. Sasarannya P2M adalah para pekerja berkewarganegaraan Thailand, Vietnam, dan Indonesia. Dari hasil survey pendahuluan diketahui bahwa pelatihan bahasa Jepang yang dibutuhkan adalah pelatihan Japanese Language Proficiency Test level N3 dan N4. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan melalui platform Zoom yang dilakukan seminggu sekali pada hari Sabtu selama 2 bulan. Di akhir sesi diberikan tes simulasi JLPT bekerja sama dengan UPT Bahasa UNJ, dan diketahui 60% peserta dinyatakan lulus JLPT N4 dan 20% peserta dinyatakan lulus JLPT N3. Dari hasil survey pasca pendahuluan diketahui bahwa peserta puas dan setuju jika kegiatan serupa diadakan kembali pada tahun mendatang. Selain itu diketahui bahwa 72,7% peserta memiliki permasalahan waktu pelaksanaan. Hal ini dikarenakan para pekerja tetap bekerja pada hari Sabtu maupun Minggu, sehingga perlu dipikirkan solusi dalam waktu pelaksanaan di masa mendatang.
