Abstract

Seedborne diseases on peanut seeds can be controlled by using plant leaf extracts which applied by seed treatment. The plants leaf used, such as: sambiloto leaves extract, bay leaves extract, basil leaves extract and guava leaves extract. The aim of this research is to study the effect of application several plants leaf extract and obtain the best extract to control seedborne fungal pathogens on peanut seeds and its effect to germination of peanut seeds. The research has been conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Disease and Greenhouse Experimental Farm at Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru. This research has been conducted experimentally by using a completely randomed design (CRD), consisting of 5 treatments, namely: without application of plants leaf extract (E0), sambiloto leaves extract 30% (E1), bay leaves extract 30% (E2), basil leaves extract 30% (E3) and guava leaves extract 30% (E4). The data obtained were statistically analyzed with analysis of variance and to compare the mean of treatments, and Tukey’s test at level 5% was applied. The result obtained 5 isolate seedborne fungus on peanut seeds. The results showed that application of basil leaves extract was able to inhibit the growth of Rhizoctonia sp. (30.25%), Macrophomina sp. (41,00%), Rhizopus sp. (20,25%) and Aspergillus sp. (15,00%), the extract of bay leaves had a higher inhibition of Aspergillus sp. (31.25%). The application of bay leaves extract resulted in a better germination rate of (93.00%). The application of the four plants leaf extract were not able to affect the total normal germination seeds and seedling height.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the effect of biofungicide tablets with active ingredient of the consortium consisted Trichoderma virens endophyte and mycorrhiza indigenous and to get the best formula to control the JAP disease on rubber plant. The research was carried out experimentally by using a completely randomized design (RAL), consisting of 6 treatments and 4 replications in order to obtain 24 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of two seeds, so there were 48 rubber seeds. The treatments seed were: F1 (15 ml T. virens endophyte), F2 (15 gr inokulan mychorrhiza), F3 (15 ml T. virens endophyte + 15 gr inokulan mychorrhiza + 100 gr palm fronds powder + 25 gr zeolite + 25 gr tapioca powder), F4 (15 ml T. virens endophyte + 15 gr inokulan mychorrhiza + 100 gr sago powder + 25 gr sago dregs + 25 gr tapioca powder), F5 (15 gr inokulan mychorrhiza + 100 gr solid + 25 gr zeolite + 25 gr tapioca powder) and F6 (15 ml T. virens endophyte + 100 gr cocoa shells powder + 25 gr sago dregs + 25 gr tapioca powder). Parameter observerd were initial symptoms on seedlings, intensity of disease, addition of plant height, stem diameter, and weight of dry seedlings. The data obtained were analyzed for variance followed by further tests of honest real difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results indicated that F3 (15 ml T. virens endophyte + 15 gr inokulan mychorrhiza + 100 gr palm fronds powder + 25 gr zeolite + 25 gr tapioca powder) was the best formula in controlling JAP with initial symptoms of infection of 24,50 days with the seedling height was 69,46 cm, stem diameter and dry weight were 6,60 cm and 103,62 gr respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the best composition of planting media using PETI (unlicensed gold mining) which is best for the growth of Sansevieria aubritiana 'Tiger' and Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii'. This research was conducted at the greenhouse of the Faculty of the Agriculture University of Riau. The research was carried out experimentally by using a Completely Randomized Design (Factorial) consisting of two factors, the first was plant type (S) and then planting media (M), which consisted of 6 treatments and 3 replications. So that 18 research units were obtained. The treatments consisted of M1S1 (Coffin land + TKKS compost 1:1, type S. aubrytiana 'Tiger'), M2S1 (Coffin land + husk charcoal 1:1, type S. aubrytiana 'Tiger'), M3S1 (Coffin land + TKKS compost + husk charcoal 1:1:1, type S. 'Tiger'), M1S2 (Coffin land + TKKS compost 1:1, type S. trifasciata 'Laurentii'), M2S2 (Coffin land + husk charcoal 1:1, type S. trifasciata 'Laurentii') and M3S2 (Coffin land + TKKS compost + husk charcoal 1:1:1, type S. trifasciata 'Laurentii'). The data obtained were then further tested by Duncan's multiple range test at 5 %. The results of the study concluded that the combination of planting media of Coffin land + husk charcoal 1:1 was to be able to increase height, the number of leaves, leaf length, root volume, and the number of tillers in S. aubrytiana 'Tiger'. The use of a combination of planting media of Coffin land + TKKS compost 1:1 was able to increase height, the number of leaves, leaf length, and leaf width on S. trifasciata 'Laurentii'.
