Abstract

The Knitting division of PT Mulia Knitting Factory aims at improving the performance of K413 machine so that losses can be minimized. A basic parameter is required to describe the effectiveness of the machine as the first step for improvements. The parameter used was overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The result of the calculations showed that the OEE rate of K413 machine was 68.48%. The poor rate was due to the low availability and performance ratio of the K413 machine caused by the operators that prefer to handle the new machine, the position of the K413 machine in the high flywaste area, the same maintenance schedule with the new machine, the poor quality of the material, and the lack of operators. Estimated financial losses due to this problem was 4,526,715 rupiahs per month. The new standard of OEE is set at 83,61 %. Increasing the number of operators with a clear job description, using new engine spare parts, advancing the maintenance schedule of the K413 machine, and changing the machine position can improve the OEE rate of the K413 machine.                 Keywords:   overall equipment effectiveness, availability ratio, performance ratio, quality ratio, financial loss estimation, improvement

Abstract

The library is an institution that collects printed and recorded knowledge and manage them in a special way in order to meet the intellectual needs of its users through a variety of modes in the interaction of knowledge. Currently, many users of Ukrida‘s library said that Ukrida‘s library services can not meet their expectations. The objective of this study is improving the Ukrida‘s library services by using the Servqual and Quality Function Deployment methods. The results show that tangible and reliability dimention have the biggest gap and the variables that need to improve are depanding on others such as the number of locker and internet (multimedia) facilities. Based on House of Quality results, the proposed improvement is checking the condition of the books as well as providing critique and suggestion boxes. Keyword: Servqual, Quality Function Deployment, House of Quality

Abstract

PT Mulia Knitting Factory (PT KMF) is a textile industry that produces cloth rolls for the manufacture of clothing in addition to  underwear as its main product. There are two kinds of cloth rolls produced: plain cloth rolls and patterned cloth rolls. After the drying process, wet cloth rolls were still found. The operator’s lack of training, the old drying machine, the different absorption level of materials, and the inappropriate temperature were estimated to be the causes. PT MKF wanted to decrease the wet cloth rolls after the drying process by improving the machine performance so that potential losses can be minimized. The Taguchi method is therefore appliedto determine the process temperature to be used in the drying process. Taguchi method resulted in100oC internal temperature and 96oC external temperature for white yarn,103oC internal temperature and 98oC external temperature for light colored yarn, and 108oC internal temperature and 103oC external temperature for dark colored yarn. Using the obtained temperature settings had decreased the numbers of wet yarns. Abstract

AbstrakPT Mulia Knitting Factory (PT KMF) adalah industri tekstil yang menghasilkan gulungan kain untuk pembuatan pakaian, selain pakaian sebagai produk utamanya. Terdapat dua jenis gulungan kain yang dihasilkan, yaitu gulungan kain polos dan gulungan kain bermotif. Ditemukan bahwa setelah proses pengeringan, masih terdapat gulungan kain basah. Hal ini terjadi karena operator tidak mendapatkan pelatihan, mesin pengering yang sudah tua, tingkat penyerapan bahan yang berbeda, dan suhu yang tidak tepat. PT MKF ingin menurunkan gulungan kain basah setelah proses pengeringan dengan meningkatkan kinerja mesin sehingga potensi kerugian dapat diminimalkan. Oleh karena itu, metode Taguchi digunakan untuk menentukan temperatur proses yang harus digunakan dalam proses pengeringan. Metode Taguchi memberikan temperatur dalam 100oC dan temperatur luar 96oC untuk benang putih, suhu dalam 103oC dan suhu luar 98oC untuk benang berwarna terang, dan suhu dalam 108oC dan suhu luar 103oC untuk benang berwarna gelap. Dengan menggunakan pengaturan suhu yang diperoleh menyebabkan jumlah benang basah menurun. Abstract

AbstrakSebuah perusahaan manufaktur yang bergerak pada industri makanan di Indonesia masih  menggunakan mesin manual dalam proses packing. Proses ini membutuhkan lebih banyak tenaga kerja dan masih terdapat kondisi bottleneck. Perusahaan perlu meningkatkan efisiensi lini produksi, terutama pada packing line. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan jumlah dari stasiun kerja optimal dengan menggunakan metode terbaik, dan menentukan perencanaan yang optimal dari packing line. Kriteria evaluasi untuk metode terbaik adalah output dan proses, dan kriteria evaluasi untuk garis keseimbangan adalah garis efisiensi dan jumlah stasiun kerja. Empat pendekatan berbeda yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan analitis (Branch and Bound method), pendekatan heuristik (Rank Position Weight System method), pendekatan metaheuristic (Ant Colony Optimization method) dan pendekatan simulasi (metode COMSOAL). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efisiensi jalur meningkat 12% dan jumlah stasiun kerja menurun menjadi 11 stasiun kerja. Perusahaan dapat mengurangi biaya tenaga kerja sebesar Rp 6.006.000 per bulan dengan perencanaan yang optimal.Kata kunci: Line Balancing, Efficiency Line, Branch and Bound, Rank Position Weight System method, Ant Colony Optimization, COMSOALAbstractA manufacturing company engaged in food industry in Indonesia is still using manual machines in the packing process. This process requires more manpower, and bottleneck still occurs. The company needs to increase the efficiency in production line, specifically the packing line. This study aims to determine the optimal number of work stations by applying the best method, and to determine the optimal planning for the packing line. The evaluation criteria for the best method were output and process, whereas the evaluation criteria for balance line were the efficiency line and the number of work stations. Four different approaches used in this study were analytical approach (Branch and Bound method), heuristic approach (Rank Position Weight System method), metaheuristic approach (Ant Colony Optimization method) and simulation approach (COMSOAL method). The results showed that the line efficiency increased to 12% and the number of work stations decreased to 11 units. The company can reduce labor costs up to IDR6.006.000 per month by applying the optimal planning. Abstract

Abstrak Untuk meminimalkan kerugian akibat produk yang cacat, perusahaan harus menghasilkan produk berkualitas tinggi dan memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen dalam melakukan kegiatan produksi. Untuk itu perusahaan perlu menerapkan manajemen mutu dalam produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meminimalisasi produk yang cacat dengan menggunakan metode Value Stream Mapping (VSM) dengan alat Quality Filter Mapping (QFM). Silver adalah jenis produk cacat dengan persentase tertinggi. Proses produksi yang menyebabkan produk cacat paling tinggi adalah proses persiapan material. Perbaikan proses menunjukkan bahwa produk cacat dan biaya kualitas menurun sekitar 33,88%. Therefore, the manufacturer needs to implement quality management in production. This study aims to reduce defective products by applying Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method using Quality Filter Mapping (QFM) device. Silver has the highest possibility to be defective. The production process that causes defective products the highest is during the material preparation. Abstract

Abstrak Pendekatan metaheuristik telah banyak diterapkan untuk memecahkan masalah optimasi. Meskipun terdapat kelebihan yang diperoleh melalui pendekatan ini, banyak penelitian yang menghadapi masalah untuk memilih kinerja pengukuran kriteria dan metode yang paling tepat. Penelitian ini mengusulkan pendekatan fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) untuk melakukan pemilihan metode metaheuristik terbaik dalam studi kasus perancangan tata letak fasilitas. Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process digunakan untuk menentukan bobot masing-masing kriteria dan alternatif. Penelitian ini menggambarkan suatu kerangka metodologi berdasarkan kriteria yang sesuai dan teknik fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process untuk memilih metode metaheuristik yang optimal. Metode yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah fasilitas tata letak berorientasi proses. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa metode yang dipilih mampu menghasilkan kinerja yang lebih baik dari penelitian sebelumnya.Kata Kunci: metaheuristik, fuzzy AHP, perancangan tata letak   Abstract Metaheuristic approaches have been widely implemented to solve optimization problems. Despite the advantages of these approaches, previous research encountered problems in determining the most appropriate performance measurement criteria and method. This study proposed a fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach to select the best metaheuristic method for facility layout design. Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process was used to determine the weight of each criteria and alternative. This paper provides a practical framework based on appropriate criteria and fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process technique to selecting the optimal metaheuristic method. The method chosen in this study was used to solve the process-oriented facility layout problems. Abstract

Abstrak Seiring dengan terjadinya perubahan variasi permintaan pada setiap periode untuk produksi tertentu menyebabkan perusahaan harus memiliki rencana produksi yang berbeda setiap periode sesuai dengan kapasitas produksi. Untuk membantu dalam melakukan perancangan volume produksi yang optimal, diperlukan metode yang sesuai. Pada kasus ini, line-4 MV plant PT X memproduksi enam jenis kabel twisted dengan jumlah produksi dan profit yang berbeda-beda. Metode Theory of constraints (TOC) dapat mengidentifikasi masalah produksi, terutama dalam hal kendala kapasitas. Metode ini dilengkapi dengan Linear Programming dalam membantu merancang volume produksi optimal dengan profit maksimum. Dari hasil pengolahan data ditemukan kendala pada semua proses dan dari hasil perhitungan Linear Programming menggunakan software Win-QSB dapat diketahui volume produksi optimal, yakni NFA2X 2x16 sebanyak 52,7 km, NFA2X 4x16 sebanyak 0 km, NFA2X 4x25 sebanyak 10 km, NFA2X-T 3x70+50 sebanyak 140,5 km, AAAC-S 70mm sebanyak 16 km, dan AAAC-S 150mm sebanyak 14 km. Terdapat peningkatan keuntungan sebesar 1,9% dibandingkan dengan realisasi (existing). Analisis utilitas menyatakan bahwa tidak ada lagi kendala pada kapasitas sumber daya atau bernilai di atas 100%. Kata Kunci: Theory of Constraints, kapasitas, optimalisasi  Abstract Frequent demand changes in certain periods require companies to have different production plans according to the production capacity. To help designing optimal production volume, an appropriate method is necessary. In this case, the 4th-line MV plant of PT X produces six types of twisted cable having different amount of production and profit. The Theory of Constraints (TOC) method can identify production problems, especially in terms of capacity constraints. This method comes with Linear Programming to design optimal production volumes resulting in maximum profit. The data processing revealed constraints on the entire processes. The results from the calculation of Linear Programming using Win-QSB showed the optimal production volume as follows: NFA2X 2x16 as much as 52.7 km, NFA2X 4x16 as much as 0 km, NFA2X 4x25 as much as 10 km, NFA2X-T 3x70+50 as much as 140.5 km, AAAC-S 70mm as much as 16 km, and AAAC-S 150mm as much as 14 km. An increase in the profit rate was at 1, 9% compared to the realization (existing). The utility analysis suggested that there was no more constraint on the resources, or which value above 100%. Keywords: Theory of Constraints, capacity, optimization

Abstrak PT Mulia Knitting Factory divisi knitting ingin meningkatkan kinerja mesin K413 sehingga beberapa kerugian dapat diminimalkan. Parameter dasar diperlukan untuk menggambarkan efektivitas mesin sebagai langkah awal perbaikan. Parameter tersebut adalah overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa tingkat OEE mesin K413 adalah 68,48%. Tingkat efektivitas yang rendah disebabkan oleh rendahnya rasio ketersediaan dan kinerja dari mesin K413. Diagram tulang ikan menunjukkan bahwa penyebab rendahnya rasio ketersediaan dan kinerja dari mesin K413 adalah operator yang lebih memilih untuk menangani mesin baru, posisi mesin K413 di daerah dengan flywaste tinggi, jadwal pemeliharaan yang sama dengan mesin baru, kualitas bahan yang buruk, kurangnya operator. Estimasi kerugian finansial akibat rendahnya rasio ketersediaan dan kinerja dari mesin K413 adalah 4.526.715 rupiah per bulan. Standar baru OEE ditetapkan sebesar 83,61 %. Saran perbaikan yang perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas peralatan secara keseluruhan dari mesin K413 adalah meningkatkan jumlah operator dengan deskripsi tugas yang jelas, menggunakan sparepart mesin baru, jadwal pemeliharaan mesin K413 yang lebih awal dari mesin baru, dan relayout posisi mesin K413 sehingga mesin dapat menjadi prioritas diperbaiki dan bebas dari debu.Kata kunci: efektivitas peralatan keseluruhan, rasio ketersediaan, rasio kinerja, rasio kualitas, estimasi kerugian finansial, peningkatan  AbstractThe Knitting division of PT Mulia Knitting Factory aims at improving the performance of K413 machine so that losses can be minimized.
