Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to describe the critical mathematical discourses in Socrates' scientific learning. The subjects of this study were 9 students of class VII-2 of SMP Global Madani Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2018/2019 who were chosen purposively. Then, 9 students were selected as research subjects consisting of three students with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities. This research data was qualitative data about students’ critical mathematical discourses obtained through observation, interviews, and documentations. Furthermore, data analysis was carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that: (1) The students’ critical mathematical discourses that occurred in Socrates scientific learning more dominantly led to indicators of students’ critical thinking abilities, namely interpretation and analysis, (2) Students’ mathematical critical discourses appeared more often when the teacher asked Socrates questions of type of clarification and the reasons and evidence of the investigation, (3) Students’ mathematical critical discourses were more dominant when students do the scientific stages of associating and communicating.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of problem based learning models that utilizing edutainment on students’ mathematical communication skills. The population of this research was all students of grades X IPA of SMA Negeri 3 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2018/2019. The sample of this research were students of class X IPA 1 as many as 31 students and X IPA 2 as many as 32 students, that were choosen by cluster random sampling technique. This reseach used pretest-posttest control group design. Data analized using Mann-Whitney U test with ???? = 0,05. Hypothesis test results showed that gain of students’ mathematical communication skills in the problem based learning class that utilizing edutainment was higher than students in the problem based learning class. Based on this analysis it was concluded that the problem based learning model that utilizing edutainment affects the mathematical communication skills of students. Keywords: Effect, Problem Based Learning Model, Edutainment, Communication Skills

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Problem Based Learning Model Toward Student’s Mathematical Communication Skill. This quasi-experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of problem based learning (PBL) model toward student’s mathematical communication skill. The population of this research was all students of grade 7th Junior High School state of Natar in academic year 2018/2019 as many as 353 students that distributed into eleven classes. Through purposive random sampling technique, students of class of VII B as many as 32 students and class of VII C as many as 32 students were chosen as the research sample. This research used pretest-posttest group design. The research data were obtained by the essay test of student’s mathematical communication skill. The result of t -test and proportion test with  was known that the data of student’s mathematical communication skill through problem based learning model was higher than the data of student’s mathematical communication skill through non-PBL model and proportion of student through problem based learning model with standard of minimum of completeness 70 more than 60%. So that, problem based learning model was effective towards student’s mathematical communication skill. Keywords: mathematical communication skill, problem based learning

Abstract

Abstrak: Efektivitas Alqurun Teaching Model Bantuan Papan Tulis Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep Matematis Siswa. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas Alqurun Teaching Model (ATM) bantuan papan tulis ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 9 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2018/2019 dengan jumlah 272 siswa yang terdistribusi ke dalam 9 kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B sebanyak 30 siswa dan VII C sebanyak 30 siswa yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan ujidan uji proporsi dengan taraf signifikansi . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mengikuti ATM bantuan papan tulis lebih tinggi daripada pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mengikuti ATM biasa. Maka, ATM bantuan papan tulis efektif terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Kata kunci: alqurun teaching model bantuan papan tulis, efektivitas, kemampuan   pemahaman konsep matematis

Abstract

Abstrak: Deskripsi Disposisi Berpikir Kritis Matematis Siswa dalam Pembelajaran Socrates Saintifik. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan disposisi berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran Socrates saintifik. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 9 siswa kelas VII-2 SMP Global Madani Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2018/2019. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga siswa berkemampuan matematis tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Data penelitian ini adalah data kualitatif mengenai disposisi berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh simpulan bahwa siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematis tinggi, sedang dan rendah ternyata dapat memunculkan disposisi berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran matematika menggunakan metode Socrates Saintifik pada materi perbandingan. Indikator disposisi berpikir kritis matematis yang dominan muncul adalah indikator analitis dan kepercayaan diri. Kata kunci: disposisi berpikir kritis matematis, metode Socrates, pendekatan saintifik

Abstract

Abstract: The Effectiveness of Discovery Learning Model in Terms of Students’ Mathematical Communication Skills. This quasi experimental research aimed to examine the effectiveness of discovery learning model in terms of students’ mathematical communication skills. The population of this research was all students of grade VII of SMP Negeri 26 Bandarlampung in even semester in academic year 2018/2019 as many as 233 students, that were distributed into eight classes. By using purposive sampling technique, two classes were taken as the sample that were VII B class as many as 30 students and VII D class as many as 29 students. This research used the pretest-posttest control group design and the data collecting technique was test. The data obtained from this research was the score of students’ mathematical communication skills. Based on the result of t-test and proportion test using 5% of significance level, it was concluded that discovery learning model was not effective in terms of students’ mathematical communication skills. However, the mathematical communication skills of students who following discovery learning was higher than mathematical communication skills of students who following conventional learning. Keywords: discovery learning, effectiveness, mathematical communication skills

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model on students’ mathematical representation skills. The population of this research were all students of grade 7th of SMPN 31 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2018/2019 that were distributed into nine classes. The sample of this research were students of class VII D and VII E that were selected by purposive sampling technique. This research used posttest only control group design and test technique to collect data. The data was analyzed using t-test and proportion test with 5% of significance level. The results showed that students’ mathematical representation skills through guided inquiry learning model was higher than students’ mathematical representation skills through conventional learning, but the mathematical representation skills ability of students who followed the guided inquiry learning model reached less than 60% of the number of students. So that, guided inquiry learning was non effective on students’ mathematical representation skills. Keywords: effectiveness, guided inquiry, mathematical representation

Abstract

Abstract: The effectiveness learning model of think talk write on students’ mathematical representation skills. This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of cooperative learning Think Talk Write type on students' mathematical representation skills. The population of this research was all students of eighth grade in SMP N 1 Kotabumi in the academic year of 2018/2019  as many as 244 students which were distributed into eight classes. The sample of this research were all students of class VIII D as many as 32 students and VIII E as many as 32 students who were selected by cluster random sampling technique. The design which was used in this research was the pretest-posttest control group design and the data collecting technique was tested. The research data was the increasing score of mathematical representation skills obtained through an essay test. Based on the result of proportion test and test using 0,05 of significance level, concluded that cooperative learning Think Talk Write type was not effective on students mathematical representation skills

Abstract

This study aims to describe the achievement of the numeracy cognitive level of elementary school students on a minimum competency assessment. The population of this study were fifth grade students at C-accredited elementary school in Lampung province. The sample of this study selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a level 2 numeracy test instrument developed by the Center for Evaluation and Learning of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Mann-Whitney test. It was concluded that: a) students’ category of numeracy ability was “competent” (mean score 43.04); b) there is no significant difference between the numeracy abilities of male and female students; c) the highest percentage of correct answers was matching type questions (62.9%); and d) the lowest cognitive level was achieved is in the measurement concept which was only 28.6. Keywords: elementary school students, minimum competency assessment, numeracy cognitive level. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp428-436
