Abstract

The study aimed to measure the influence of relative deprivation toward intergroup prejudice within undergraduate students in the Faculty “X” at Universitas Gadjah Mada. The relative deprivation theory predicted that when a person or a group is believed to be having limitation/weakness in comparison to the other people/groups, psychological problems and negative behaviors will be likely to occur. Pettigrew (2008) stated that the relative deprivation experienced by a group is strongly related to the occurrence of intergroup prejudice. This study was conducted by using a quasi-experimental method with pre test – post test control group design. A total of 20 undergraduate students participated in this study, which were grouped into two experimental groups (one group with narrative intervention and one group with narrative and provocation intervention) and one control group, after being selected through a proportional random sampling. Data were collected by using two scales, i.e. relative deprivation scale and intergroup prejudice scale. A one-way ANOVA analysis was used to see the difference between pre- and post-test scores across the three groups. Result of the study showed that relative deprivation did not influence the occurrence of intergroup prejudice. Keywords: relative deprivation, prejudice, intergroup

Abstract

James H. Liu, Professor Psikologi Sosial dari Massey University, New Zealand, wafat di Labuan Bajo pada tanggal 11 Agustus 2024 dan meninggalkan catatan penting dalam sejarah perkembangan psikologi sosial di Indonesia. Obituari ini – ditulis dari sudut pandang penulis sebagai kolaborator dan murid doktoralnya.– berusaha memotret motif dan visi akademik yang ingin dicapai oleh James Liu selama perjalanan karir akademiknya, berbagai aktivitas yang telah ia rintis dan lakukan bersama para sarjana psikologi Indonesia, serta berbagai program yang telah ia rencanakan ke depan. James Liu sangat percaya dan menaruh harapan besar pada potensi generasi muda peneliti psikologi sosial di Indonesia untuk berkontribusi di dalam diskursus psikologi global di satu sisi, dan di sisi lain berdampak dalam menciptakan kehidupan yang lebih baik. Tulisan ini akan menggarisbawahi legacy James Liu dalam perkembangan psikologi sosial Indonesia di masa lalu dan yang akan datang.

Abstract

Asesmen kompetensi penting dalam manajemen SDM untuk memetakan kebutuhan pengembangan pegawai. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, salah satu perusahaan sektor transportasi di Indonesia, mengembangkan asesmen kompetensi dalam bentuk tes menggunakan metode Situational Judgment Test (SJT). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan analisis kualitas butir SJT kompetensi inti dengan model Rasch berdasarkan sampel karyawan PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia. Metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria pemilihan sampel yaitu karyawan PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia yang merupakan kelompok jabatan level 1 (officer) sebanyak 3,989 karyawan. Analisis kualitas butir dilakukan dengan model Rasch pada 27 butir soal yang mengukur 3 kompetensi inti, yaitu Customer Focus (CFO), Driving Innovation (DIN), dan Building Strategic Partnership (BSP) untuk level jabatan 1 (officer). Hasil analisis Rasch menunjukkan keseluruhan butir fit dengan nilai infit dan outfit dalam rentang (0,5 - 1,5), sedangkan pada measure seluruh butir berada dalam rentang logit sedang (-2,0 - 2,0). Wright Map menunjukkan bahwa 3 kompetensi inti memotret abilitas pada tingkatan rerata. Namun, butir soal pada kompetensi CFO dan DIN tidak memotret abilitas rendah maupun tinggi, sedangkan pada BSP butir soal tidak memotret abilitas rendah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa instrumen SJT ini memiliki kualitas dan keandalan butir yang baik dan dapat digunakan sebagai asesmen kompetensi inti di PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia.
