Abstract

The organization structure of the main institutions greatly affect the management of the institution's own library. The research found that library y not fit into the organization structure of x explicitly, the library is only a complementary part to make the library be underestimated and was not an important part from the main organization. Another reason is not appointed someone to be head librarian who takes full responsibility and will have the authority to lead the library. That problem caused the library staff work without direction from a single command, so that the library management is not going well

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the alumni engagement program in order to improve the academic quality of the study program. This study uses an exploratory method with a qualitative approach.. Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with alumni and interviews with the head of the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, were used to collect data. Data analysis was carried out in stages, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The findings revealed that alumni of the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, were involved in a variety of academic and non-academic programs, which were carried out by fellow alumni, active students, and those working with study programs. These initiatives allow alumni to stay connected to their alma mater. However, numerous programs did not run as anticipated, and other activities were unsustainable. This is because program implementation requires collaboration. As a result, the alumni involvement program in increasing the quality of the Library Science Study Program at UIN Jakarta has not been fully utilized.

Abstract

This study discusses the literacy activities of students at school, which aims to determine the literacy activities carried out and the library's role in increasing the literacy of SDI Al-Azhar 4 students. In addition, to find out the obstacles and solutions they face. The research method used for this study is a qualitative approach and this type of case study research. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observation, and literature review. The results of this study include 1). Although SDI Al-Azhar 4 has not implemented the School Literacy Movement (GLS) in the school curriculum, it has indirectly implemented GLS in their schools through reading activities in class, storytelling, book reviews, and library classes. 2) The library has a role as a facilitator in increasing the literacy of SDI Al-Azhar 4 students by facilitating reading materials, library class hours, and library activities. In addition, the library (librarian) also plays the role of educator in literacy activities through storytelling, watching films, and reading in classes organized by the library. 3). Obstacles libraries face in providing literacy activities, namely reading materials that are easily damaged because they are often read by students, which are then resolved with a solution given a budget for repairs and procurement of new books. Besides that, another obstacle faced is the Covid-19 pandemic which has changed the learning system by not being face-to-face. This problem is given a solution by carrying out literacy activities online.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of inclusive education for blind students in the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was used, involving interviews, observations, and documentation. The selection of informants used a purposive sampling technique, namely, the head of the study program and several lecturers who had taught courses in inclusive classes. Triangulating sources carried out data validity testing. The study results showed that lecturers understand the concept of inclusive education but do not understand the specific needs of blind students. Study programs and lecturers are not fully ready to implement inclusive education due to the absence of standards and technical guidelines. Teaching activities are carried out based on the understanding of each lecturer. Various obstacles were identified in this study, ranging from inadequate facilities for blind students that have not been properly accommodated by the campus to the absence of training or technical guidance for lecturers in preparing themselves to teach in inclusive classes, to the lack of motivation for blind students with special needs in lectures. The suggestion from this study is that a policy should be established regarding lecture activities for students with special needs, particularly those who are blind. This research implies that there must be improvements in clear policies and guidelines, strengthening of human resources, preparation of supporting facilities and infrastructure, increasing campus awareness and sensitivity, and ongoing evaluation and supervision.
